Ye Wushuang gazed at the bustling crowd and the constant flow of carriages, and couldn’t help but be taken aback. “As far as I know, Qingyun Academy only admits a few hundred students each year. This scene… it doesn’t seem to match that at all!”

Xiao Yuan also scratched his head in confusion. Although he was from the Xiao clan, he was from a collateral branch and didn’t have much knowledge of the outside world.

“That’s because many of these people are not students who have come for the assessment to enter Qingyun Academy, but rather those who have come to see them off,” a graceful voice explained.

Ye Wushuang and Xiao Yuan turned their attention to the speaker and were both surprised.

“Miss Wang.”

The voice belonged to Wang Xueqi. Dressed in martial attire, she exuded an air of confidence and strength, her slender figure accentuating her formidable presence with a touch of heroic spirit that matched any man’s.

“Prince Ye,” she greeted with a smile. “Prince Xiao. It’s nice to see you again.”

Beside her stood Wang Hongsheng, the city lord of Liuyue City, who looked somewhat ill at ease.

“Prince Ye, it’s good to see you again,” Wang Hongsheng said with a chuckle.

“Dad, what are you so nervous about…” Wang Xueqi chided her father gently.

Wang Hongsheng sighed and explained, “I came to Qingtian City this time to report to the royal family and inform them of what happened in Liuyue City. I’ve met many important figures. The capital… I was here once before, also for the Qingyun Academy assessment, but unfortunately, my talent was lacking and I failed.”

“Now, seeing Qingyun Academy again, I can’t help but feel nervous,” he added with a wry smile, turning to Ye Wushuang. “How is Third Uncle Ye?”

“Thank you for your concern. He is well,” Ye Wushuang replied politely.

Wang Hongsheng then said, “Prince Ye, this capital city is truly a place where dragons and tigers lie in wait. You must be careful while cultivating at Qingyun Academy. Sometimes it’s best not to act impulsively and to keep a low profile.”

“Thank you for your concern, City Lord Wang,” Ye Wushuang responded with courtesy.

Wang Xueqi, however, seemed displeased. “Father, Prince Ye is extraordinarily talented. What do you have to worry about?”

Wang Hongsheng and his daughter had arrived in the capital a few days earlier. As soon as they settled in, they heard people talking about Ye Wushuang. His debate victory over Shen Yunrui at Qingyun Pavilion and his triumph over Saint Shaoqing in the alchemy competition had already made him quite famous in just a month since he arrived in the capital. This young man was truly a hidden dragon, about to soar into the sky.

“Let’s go and register together,” Wang Xueqi suggested.

“Sure,” Ye Wushuang and Xiao Yuan agreed.

The three of them walked together toward one of the gates. At that moment, some senior students from Qingyun Academy approached them warmly, offering guidance on what to do next.

The surroundings were lively, but soon, a commotion arose nearby.

“You… you’re being too unreasonable!” a young man shouted, his face flushed with anger.

“We parked our carriage here first. Why should we move just because you arrived? It’s packed here; there’s nowhere to move to!” another voice retorted.

Then, a mocking voice replied, “Why should you move? Because this is a carriage from the Shang clan. Will you move or not?”

“No way!”

A thud followed the argument. It seemed that a fight had broken out. A figure leaped up and was thrown out of the crowd, landing on the ground with a thud, bruised and battered.

“Chengtian, Chengtian, are you alright?” an anxious voice called out. A middle-aged man hurriedly pushed his way through the crowd to check on the young man lying on the ground.

Qing Chengtian?

Ye Wushuang, Wang Xueqi, and Xiao Yuan were all taken aback.

At that moment, several figures emerged from the crowd, led by a young man dressed in luxurious robes, who arrogantly demanded, “You blind fool! How dare you block the way for a carriage from the Shang clan?”

Qing Chengtian, with a swollen cheek, spat out, “You’re being unreasonable. This is Qingyun Academy; you can’t just act however you want!”

“Chengtian, don’t say anything more,” Qing Zhonghao, the city lord, quickly interjected, trying to appease the group of young men. “We’ll move, right away.”

“Damn it, you still don’t know your place, do you?” the leading young man cursed. “It’s too late to move now!”
