Yun Jie immediately sensed something was terribly wrong. He stepped back and looked up at a young man crouching by the window.
  ”It’s you, Ye Wushuang.”
Yun Jie’s face darkened, and his hand clenched instinctively.
  Thud!!!
A sword qi flashed through the air.
His left hand was severed instantly.
A long sword pressed against the middle of his spine, and a cold voice rang out: “If you dare move recklessly, I guarantee this sword will pluck out your spinal cord!”
Hearing this, Yun Jie trembled and stood frozen, not daring to move a muscle.
”Ye Wushuang, why are you here?”
Nowadays, Ye Wushuang’s reputation was immense. Every cultivator at the Wangwo and Zhaixing realms, even if they hadn’t met him in person, had surely seen his portrait.
  ”Why can’t I be here?”
Ye Wushuang’s gaze was calm but laced with killing intent: “Let me ask you—where are Xing Hanwen, Nangong Shang, and the others?”
Knowing his fate was sealed, Yun Jie curled his lips, stiffened his neck, and remained silent.
  ”You”re one tough bastard, huh!”
Huang Yu thrust his sword forward, the blade directly slicing off a section of Yun He’s body and shattering it. Yun He writhed in unbearable pain, lying on the ground with a deathly pale face, his body trembling uncontrollably.
”They’re all inside this ancient city!”
Sweat drenched Yun He’s face as he spoke in a low voice: “Lord Xing Hanwen, Lord Nangong Shang, Lord Yun Quyan, and Lord Yun Quyin each lead a large team, with each large team divided into five squads. They are spread out searching this ancient city.”
”Ye Wushuang, if Yun You and I don’t return soon, they’ll know we’re in danger and will definitely come looking for us. By then, you…”
”No need for you to worry about my safety.” Ye Wushuang’s voice was calm as he stepped forward, lightly lifting his left foot. Looking at Yun He, he said indifferently: “Since they’re all here, that’s enough.”
  BAM!!!
With one stomp, Yun He’s head exploded instantly.
Looking at the two corpses in the room, Ye Wushuang pondered and said: “Since they’ll definitely send people here, let’s just wait for them.”
Huang Yu chuckled darkly: “Then let’s play some tricks and ambush them.”
  ”Mm.”
  At the same time, elsewhere.
Among one of the Yun family’s squads.
A burly, bearded man strode into a domed, arched building.
  ”Brother Yun Zhan!”
Inside the arched circular building’s hall, five people had already gathered. Upon seeing the bearded man arrive, they all stood up.
  ”Hmm, is everyone here?”
  The man’s voice boomed.
A man in his thirties at the forefront said, “Yun Jie and Yun You haven’t returned yet.”
Hearing this, Yun Zhan raised an eyebrow.
”Which area were those two responsible for?” Yun Zhan snorted.
Over a hundred people were divided into four large teams, each further split into five squads. The number of members in each squad was maintained between eight to ten, with squad leaders at least at the Star-Plucking Realm to prevent any dangers.
Now, everyone had scattered and was advancing forward, searching the ancient city for any mysteries.
At the designated gathering time, Yun Jie and Yun You’s absence naturally displeased Yun Zhan, their squad leader.
The man who spoke earlier added, “It’s not far from here. They should have returned by now. Could they have encountered some danger?”
Hearing this, Yun Zhan immediately asked, “Did any of you find anything?”
  All five shook their heads.
Yun Zhan said impatiently, “The gathering time set by Lord Yun Quyin is approaching. Yun Zheng, go look for those two. Stop dawdling.”
”The people from Xuantian Mansion passed through here first, so chances are they’ve already taken all the good stuff.”
  ”Hmm.”
The man named Yun Zheng strode away.
Yun Zhan sat on a stool inside the hall, cursing, “Those birdbrains from the Xuantian Mansion really left nothing behind. I can see many places were practically turned upside down.”
  The group chatted idly.
After waiting for less than half an hour, Yun Zheng suddenly stumbled back in a panic, his face pale.
  ”Something’s wrong.”
Yun Zheng urgently shouted, “I saw Yun Jie’s corpse inside a pavilion. Yun You wasn’t there. I was worried about potential danger, so I didn’t investigate further…”
Hearing this, Yun Zhan immediately stood up, his expression grave.
”Yun Zheng, go notify Lord Yun Quyin at once. The five of us will go check it out first.”
  ”Understood.”
  Yun Zheng immediately jogged away.
Yun Zhan looked at the other four and said, “Stay alert. It might be Xuantian Mansion’s surveillance team striking from the shadows.”
  ”Yes!”
  ”Yes!”
At once, Yun Zhan led the four toward the pavilion where the corpse was found.
Upon reaching the pavilion, they saw its door broken, tables and chairs in disarray, with Yun Jie’s body lying amidst the chaotic mess.
”Yun Qiancheng, you go scout.” Yun Zhan said decisively.
Hearing this, one of the four reluctantly stepped forward.
  Why him?
Even if unwilling, Yun Qiancheng cautiously and warily walked towards the attic.
After entering and checking for a long time, nothing strange was found.
Only then did Yun Zhan lead the other three into the attic together.
Yun Jie’s death was gruesome—one hand severed, his spine snapped, his face twisted in horror, clearly having suffered before death.
Seeing this, Yun Zhan immediately cursed: “If I find out who did this, I’ll skin them alive.”
”Look for clues, see if it was the work of the Xuantian Mansion!”
  ”Yes.”
The four were about to split up.
  Suddenly.
  Buzz……
Inside the attic, spiritual patterns rose from the ground on all sides.
The entire attic was instantly enveloped by a spiritual array.
  In an instant.
  ”Ah… ah…”
  Two screams rang out.
Yun Zhan’s nerves tensed as he suddenly felt a sharp sword aura aimed straight at his back.
Without hesitation, Yun Zhan swung his blade backward in a direct slash.
However, the blade froze halfway in the air, never completing its descent.
A sword had already pierced his neck, blood gushing out, ending his life.
  ”So… fast…”
Yun Zhan’s words were cut short as he breathed his last, his corpse collapsing to the ground.
A mid-stage Heaven-reaching Realm expert had died just like that.
Ye Wushuang sheathed his sword and stood firm, while Huang Yu on the other side had already dealt with the other two.
  Five figures had become corpses.
All this happened in just a few breaths of time.
In truth, Ye Wushuang himself was at the mid-stage Heaven-reaching Realm. With a sneak attack, not only could he instantly kill warriors of the same level without issue, even late-stage Heaven-reaching Realm experts wouldn’t pose much difficulty.
Although Huang Yu wasn’t as strong as Ye Wushuang, he had now reached the mid-stage Heaven-reaching Realm as well, making it quite simple for him to assassinate other Arrogant Void Realm experts.
  ”Let’s retreat!”
  Ye Wushuang spoke up.
The two quickly left the area.
After roughly half a quarter of an hour, a group of over twenty people arrived at the scene.
From a distance away, the leader, Yun Quyin, raised an eyebrow, her expression darkening.
When the twenty-plus individuals entered the pavilion and saw the corpses on the ground, their faces turned grim with shock one by one.
