The surroundings here were dim, yet the towering sculpture, standing at ten zhang tall and upright, seemed to emit a glow that made it clearly visible at first glance. The sculpture, intricately carved and evidently ancient, remained lifelike and as good as new despite its age.

Elder Zhuo Qun spoke up, “This is the place!”

“The sculpture possesses a certain degree of self-awareness. It is likely the entrance, but to pass through it, one must undergo its trials.”

“We previously tried every possible method here to pass the sculpture’s tests and enter the secret realm beyond, but all our attempts ended in failure.”

Upon hearing this, Tian Linzi inquired, “Is there no limit to the number of attempts?”

“Yes, there is no limit!”

This piqued interest. If this was the case, it was highly probable that it was left by a powerful individual, and there should be something valuable within.

Tian Linzi kicked Han Chen and said, “You, go try first and see if what you said is true.”

“Alright, alright.”

Han Chen walked to a position ten zhang in front of the sculpture.

Suddenly,

the ten-zhang-tall sculpture began to shimmer with a faint blue light all over its body.

Then, the sculpture’s eyes opened, and two beams of light shone on the dark and damp stone ground, creating a brightly lit area.

Han Chen stepped into the illuminated zone.

Instantly,

a phantom figure appeared, floating in the air between the sculpture’s eyes, its robes fluttering in the wind with an air of composure.

The phantom figure spoke, “If you wish to enter this door, you must cleanse the three roots. What are the three roots?”

Han Chen immediately replied, “The roots of heaven, earth, and humanity!”

The phantom figure continued, “The path of the sage, where does the path lie?”

Han Chen hastily answered again.

When he reached the fourth question,

“Wrong!”

The phantom figure waved its hand, and its body gradually dissipated.

Han Chen stepped back, his face flushed as he said, “This sculpture has its own consciousness. It asks various questions. If you answer correctly, it will continue to the next one. If you answer incorrectly, it ends.”

“We tried several times and managed to answer up to four questions correctly at most. Moreover… the questions are not fixed.”

“As for the total number of questions and what happens if you answer them all correctly, we are not clear.”

Ye Wushuang looked at Tian Linzi.

Tian Linzi nodded and took Elder Zhuo Qun to one side.

Seeing Elder Zhuo Qun being taken away, Han Chen immediately panicked and hurriedly said, “I’m telling the truth. You can’t go back on your word!”

Ye Wushuang, however, patted Han Chen on the shoulder and said with a smile, “Don’t worry. I’m just separating you to ask each of you a few questions. If your answers are consistent, it proves you’re not deceiving me!”

Upon hearing this, Han Chen was stunned.

Ye Wushuang was too meticulous!

“How did you find this place?” Ye Wushuang asked.

Han Chen immediately replied, “Before entering the Sage’s Tomb this time, Elder Zhuo Qun and I reviewed the ancient records of the Sage’s Tomb in our Spiritual Sword Pavilion and unexpectedly found half of a jade slip that mentioned this place. We originally just wanted to give it a try, but it turns out this place really exists.”

“Oh?”

Ye Wushuang then smiled and asked, “What did the jade slip record?”

Han Chen continued, “The jade slip was only half, mentioning that this place is eerie. We don’t know who left the jade slip, and it didn’t say what’s inside…”

“But there were a few words I remember very clearly, something about the sage’s path, the path cannot be deceived!”

The sage’s path!

The path cannot be deceived!

Ye Wushuang asked several other questions, and then asked the same questions to Elder Zhuo Qun, making sure the two hadn’t played any tricks. Satisfied, Ye Wushuang walked up to the sculpture.

The sculpture’s eyes gleamed with light.

Soon, the light shone on Ye Wushuang, and the phantom figure reappeared.

“The path I see is not necessarily my path,

What does this mean?”

The phantom figure asked directly.

Without hesitation, Ye Wushuang slowly replied, “The path I see may not be the true path suitable for me. Most beings are easily blinded by a single leaf on their journey…”

As Ye Wushuang spoke eloquently, Tian Linzi, Yu Yourong, and the others listened, feeling a sense of profound mystery ripple through their hearts.

Soon, the phantom figure began to ask the second question.

This time, Ye Wushuang’s answer left many present in a state of confusion.

Next came the third question, the fourth question…

No matter what question the phantom figure posed, Ye Wushuang spoke confidently. Whether right or wrong, no one knew for sure, but the phantom figure didn’t stop, continuing to ask questions. The onlookers realized that Ye Wushuang’s enigmatic answers were indeed correct!

When Ye Wushuang reached the tenth question, the hovering phantom figure gradually dissipated.

Then, from within the sculpture, a staircase extended out, reaching Ye Wushuang’s feet.

Ye Wushuang took a breath and stepped forward.

At the same time, Tian Linzi, Yu Yourong, and the others followed suit.

But as they approached the staircase, they felt a tremendous repulsive force, pressing down and preventing them from climbing up.

Yu Yourong’s face turned cold, and she unleashed a torrent of spiritual energy to counteract the repulsive force.

Suddenly.

With a loud bang.

Yu Yourong’s body was pushed back several zhang, and she knelt on the ground, her face pale.

“It seems I have to go alone!”

Ye Wushuang turned to the others and said, “Wait for me here. I’ll go see what’s going on first.”

“Be careful, Master,” Tian Linzi said worriedly.

Tian Linzi had always been more concerned about Ye Wushuang’s life than Ye Wushuang himself.

After all, if Ye Wushuang were to die, he would be in trouble too!

Ye Wushuang nodded and stepped onto the staircase.

With each step, a layer of the staircase beneath Ye Wushuang’s feet disappeared until, eventually, Ye Wushuang vanished between the sculpture’s eyes.

All the light around them disappeared.

Everything returned to its original state.

Yu Yourong coldly said, “Keep an eye on Zhuo Qun and Han Chen. If Ye Wushuang doesn’t come back, kill them both.”

Tian Linzi nodded.

Elders Zhuo Qun and Han Chen, upon hearing this, were bewildered.

How could they know whether Ye Wushuang would come back or not? It had nothing to do with them!

But Yu Yourong didn’t care about that at all.

At the same time.

Ye Wushuang found himself in a dim and chaotic place, surrounded by darkness.

Soon, several luminous stones appeared in his hand, and Ye Wushuang scattered them around.

The luminous stones fell in different directions, illuminating the general outline of the area where Ye Wushuang now stood.
