As Ye Wushuang stepped into the main hall of the Soul-Devouring Hall, he was immediately greeted by a cacophony of sounds. Figures of all shapes and sizes were gathered within the hall, creating a chaotic and lively atmosphere.
“What do you want?” a guard holding a knife demanded, stepping forward. Standing at over two meters tall and with a robust build, he exuded an air of menace as he spoke.
“I want to participate in the life-and-death arena,” Ye Wushuang replied calmly.
The guard took a moment to size up Ye Wushuang, who appeared to be no more than fifteen or sixteen years old and rather frail. With a sneer, the guard said, “Kid, do you even know what the life-and-death arena is? Once you step onto that platform, even if you’re from one of the four great families, no one will be held responsible if you die there.”
“I know,” Ye Wushuang said indifferently.
The guard was taken aback for a moment, then waved his hand and said, “Follow me.”
Leading Ye Wushuang through a series of twists and turns, the guard brought him to a vast underground arena at the back of the Soul-Devouring Hall. As they entered, the noise level increased dramatically, filled with shouts, curses, and roars.
In the midst of this chaotic scene, several square platforms stood in the center of the arena, each hosting a pair of warriors locked in fierce combat. The moment Ye Wushuang and the guard entered, a loud thud echoed from one of the platforms. A warrior’s head exploded, blood spraying everywhere as he met a gruesome death. However, the onlookers surrounding the platform were unfazed; some cheered excitedly, while others cursed in frustration.
The guard, clearly accustomed to such sights, remained expressionless. Ye Wushuang, too, maintained his composure, which surprised the guard slightly.
“Geng Yue, who is this?” a melodious voice suddenly rang out.
A woman approached from the side, her presence commanding attention. She was dressed in a light purple gown that flowed gracefully to the ground, accentuating her tall and elegant figure. Her oval face was strikingly beautiful, with lips as bright and fiery as a red rose. Glancing down, one could see the revealing neckline of her dress, showcasing an alluring curve that was hard to ignore.
This woman was incredibly enchanting. Yet, despite the lack of decorum among the warriors present, they only dared to steal quick glances at her chest before quickly averting their eyes, as if afraid of being caught.
Geng Yue quickly replied, “Miss Xiao, this young man says he wants to participate in the life-and-death arena. I’m bringing him here to register.”
“**Him**?” Miss Xiao scrutinized Ye Wushuang from head to toe, then said, “You’re Ye Wushuang from the Ye family.”
Ye Wushuang nodded.
Miss Xiao then waved Geng Yue away, saying, “I’ll take it from here. You can leave.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Miss Xiao led Ye Wushuang to a room at the back of the underground arena and closed the door behind them, effectively shutting out the noise from outside.
With a sly smile, Miss Xiao looked at Ye Wushuang and said in a seductive tone, “Ye Wushuang of the Ye family, I heard this morning that you were quite embarrassed outside the Holy Pill Pavilion. On your wedding night, you tried to take advantage of your own younger sister-in-law?”
She stepped closer to Ye Wushuang, her chest almost touching his cheek. She playfully adjusted her clothing, her breath sweet and alluring as she whispered, “What does Ye Wushuang think of Mo Xiao? Am I more captivating to you than Yun Ziyan?”
Ye Wushuang raised an eyebrow and replied, “I heard that the Soul-Devouring Hall is a place for money and strength. These matters have nothing to do with you, do they?”
“Just a joke, Ye Wushuang, don’t be angry,” Mo Xiao said with a laugh, seeing that Ye Wushuang was unfazed and uninterested. “Are you sure you want to participate in the life-and-death arena?”
