Chapter 76: A Knight? a Big Eater!
Over the next week, everything in Hillenbrand Town proceeded smoothly.
Whether it was the construction in the Southern New Development Zone or the cooking lessons in the kitchen, all tasks were carried out efficiently.
Under the illusion of “I’m really skilled at teaching,” Lolth successfully taught Kanor a variety of recipes from different regions, including doughnuts, dumplings, pancakes, burgers, sandwiches, sushi, fried chicken, clams, noodles, skewers, and spicy hot pot with barbecue and stinky tofu.
Kanor was able to pass on most of these recipes to the ladies, gradually understanding the essence of Earth cuisine. She became more versatile and even began creating new dishes based on ingredients, seasonings, and cooking methods she had never encountered before.
With a daily variety of delicious food, construction in the Southern New Development Zone progressed rapidly and entered its final stages.
As the leader, Lolth prepared for the next phase of construction.
However, she had already used up more than half of her stored building materials.
These days, Lolth’s richest resources were Abyssal Crystals and the common currency of the continent.
“It’s time to go shopping.”
After some thought, Lolth reached a simple conclusion.
She had always planned to go out and explore, and with the remnants in the west nearly subdued, there wouldn’t be much danger in venturing out.
She decided to visit a few major cities, buy some building materials, and check on her acquaintances from Shelldor—after all, she had a good relationship with the leader of the demon race’s legion.
However, going shopping wasn’t going to be that simple.
As the lord of the town, she needed to handle the handover of work properly.
“While I’m away from Hillenbrand Town, things mustn’t go wrong!”
And shopping wasn’t like a vacation… Although Lolth could move a lot of building materials using spatial magic, she still felt it would be better to bring along some helpers.
After a moment’s thought, Lolth quickly made a plan and headed to the Moon Elf interrogation room.
Tina, who had been busy all day at the Southern New Development Zone construction site, was eating a packed fruit and vegetable salad and fried chicken from the temporary cafeteria while also evaluating the work progress and calculating the advancement of each team.
“Ahem.”
After Lolth cleared her throat, Tina, who had been focused on her work, finally looked up. Upon seeing Lolth, she quickly set aside her fried chicken and stood up.
“Master Lolth… I’m sorry, I didn’t notice your arrival! Please punish me!”
Tina excitedly bowed.
Lolth was accustomed to Tina’s reaction and simply gestured for her to sit down, saying, “I’ve told you many times, that it’s important to balance work and rest. But you’re doing a good job managing everything.”
“Serving Master Lolth is my honor,” Tina replied again, her voice filled with a hint of sincerity.
“Well, I really need your help… These days, I plan to visit some big cities in the west to buy materials for future development. So, I’ll leave the finishing work for Phase 1 of the Southern New Development Zone to you,” Lolth said, handing a plan to Tina. “If the development is completed before I return, you can also handle the ‘contract’ thing I mentioned earlier. After all, you’ve been handling the assessment work!”
“Understood, Master Lolth,” Tina said respectfully, “I will do my best to complete the work.”
“Not just the Southern New Development Zone—please take care of anything that comes up in the town as well. This time, I plan to take Isabella with me. After all, she’s strong,” Lolth paused, thinking for a moment, then added, “But don’t shoulder all the burden alone. Pick some clever and reliable people to help you. Maider, for example, would be a good choice.”
“Alright, I will choose loyal and trustworthy residents for Master Lolth,” Tina replied eagerly. “Creating competition among the residents, showing them the benefits of loyalty to Master Lolth will naturally lead to more loyalty!”
“No, that’s not what I meant at all,” Lolth said, standing up and sighing. “I just don’t want you to tire yourself out. Forget it, as long as you’re happy.”
With that, Lolth left the Moon Elf interrogation room.
Tina stood still for a moment, feeling somewhat dazed by Lolth’s words.
After a while, she felt her face warm slightly.
“Master Lolth…cares about me?”
A small smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
“No, it’s just because I’m still of use to her! How could Master Lolth have feelings for a humble, lowly prisoner like me?”
Tina tried to convince herself, but the smile on her face and the joy in her heart couldn’t be hidden.
She must be happy because she had gained Master Lolth’s favor!
“To trust me with the entire town shows that Master Lolth values my loyalty and hard work!”
“I must work even harder… but since Master Lolth reminded me to balance work and rest, I should take care of myself too. After all, my body belongs to Master Lolth!”
Thinking this way, Tina resumed eating her salad.
However, besides feeling happy, she also harbored some conflicting emotions.
“Why is Isabella the one going out with Master Lolth…”
But this fleeting emotion was quickly dismissed by Tina.
After all, that knight had neither loyalty nor wholehearted devotion to Master Lolth. Master Lolth just considered her an amusing plaything!
The other party was absolutely no match for her!
Even if she were treated as a mere plaything, her own figure far surpassed Isabella’s!
Tina thought to herself with great confidence.
Meanwhile, in the Ryman interrogation room, Lolth entered to find Isabella eating takeout food.
After she pushed open the door and entered, Isabella was also eating takeout food – she had almost realized that she seemed unable to stop the succubus’s food trend.
Once the construction for this phase was completed, magical crops and livestock would probably be raised and planted on a large scale.
Isabella had tried to persuade the residents to consider the long-term benefits, but her efforts had only made them more hostile towards her.
“You really are up to no good, Miss Noble!”
“That’s it, the lord will probably put you in shackles!”
“Hmph, even Master Tina warned me to be wary of you!”
Feeling helpless, Isabella had resorted to eating more at the cafeteria each day, thinking it would help reduce the residents’ overall food intake.
Today, she had packed five boxed meals.
The one she was eating now was a new dish Kanor had created—fried chicken, rice, and sauce combined to form a crispy chicken with rice, surprisingly delicious.
Of course, Kanor had wanted Lolth to believe it was an invention by the aunties, keeping Lolth in the dark about the true origin.
Unlike Tina, Isabella noticed Lolth the moment she stepped through the door.
