Chapter 47: This Is Definitely the Succubus’s Conspiracy!
Considering Lolth’s unique status among demons, Tina and Isabella once again reached the same conclusion.
“We need to escape as soon as possible!”
“Only by escaping can we reclaim the western frontline and save these poor civilians from suffering!”
The urgency to escape was growing stronger by the minute.
However, despite this, Isabella and Tina knew that escaping required an opportunity!
The situation is much better than inside the Demon King Castle, but still imperfect.
The succubus’s level of power was truly overwhelming. The sudden appearance of the Mage Tower might have seemed mysterious to the civilians and even to the town mayor, who had some adventuring experience. However, to Tina and Isabella—both legendary-level warriors—it was utterly bizarre.
No matter where this succubus got so many Space Magic Arrays, just by activating the magic arrays, it should possess at least Sage-level magical power, enough to instantly transport a giant building a thousand miles away!
Even for the Mage Tower of Cloud City, specializing in spatial magic, achieving this would probably be a bit of a stretch.
Moreover, the succubus’s proficiency in spiritual magic is also ridiculously high.
Capable of subtly leading people into corruption without them noticing, and even able to access others’ memories… all without resorting to any significant spells.
The best option is to escape as quickly as possible for the safety of the innocent residents of Hillenbrand Town and the entire continent.
However, waiting for the succubus to be distracted or careless is essential!
Whether Tina or Isabella, neither could muster any direct resistance against Lolth.
Tina was even surprised by the thought of “rebelling” herself, almost moved to tears by the realization that a noble part of her soul still existed.
Just as the two were about to head out to observe the layout of the town, the attic door creaked open.
Descending from the lookout tower, Lolth appeared in good spirits and greeted them warmly.
“Oh, Tina, Isabella, we have arrived at Hillenbrand!”
Tina and Isabella, who had been plotting their escape just moments earlier, quickly adjusted their expressions. To prevent Lolth from reading their memories, they immediately cleared their minds of any incriminating thoughts.
“Understood, Master Lolth.”
“What are your next instructions, Master Lolth?”
The two of them respectfully and skillfully asked.
“There are no specific instructions for now; we’ve only just moved here. Although we used a Teleportation Magic Circle to avoid travel, we still need time to familiarize ourselves,” Lolth said with a dismissive wave of her hand. “Later, I’ll explore the town and its surroundings. Tomorrow, you’ll accompany me to meet the residents. After that, you’ll be quite busy—there’s a lot to move out of the tower and new structures to build.”
As Lolth spoke, Tina and Isabella nodded attentively.
“Alright, Master Lolth.”
And after both of them said yes, Lolth seemed to remember something and said, “Oh, by the way.”
She glanced at the clock. “It’s already afternoon. I probably won’t return until midnight, so you’ll need to figure out dinner yourselves. In the kitchen, the fridge—the large metal double-door box that emits cold magic—contains packed lunches you can heat up. Of course, you can cook something fresh if you prefer, or even go to town to eat. Neither of you, being one human and one elf, should attract much attention. Just remember to pay—the Demon Army’s reputation among civilians is already poor, so let’s avoid making it worse.”. Lolth continued, “I’ve exchanged some of the continent’s common silver coins; you’ll find them in a box near the main door at the bottom of the torture tower.”
After these reminders, Lolth waved her hand casually and left. “Now that we’re no longer in the Demon King Castle, you two should relax. Besides me, there aren’t any other demons within a hundred miles… though Kululu and the Detention Department will arrive with their legion in a few days.”
As Lolth’s voice faded, Isabella and Tina couldn’t resist leaning out to watch the succubus’s figure gradually disappear down the winding staircase of the tower. The two exchanged significant glances.
“Is this… a fishing expedition?” Tina whispered cautiously.
Both of them checked themselves, and although they tried to contain their excitement, just hearing Lolth’s arrangements earlier made them think about running away.
After all, according to Lolth’s description…
This is a perfect time to run away!
With Lolth gone for nearly half a day and no other demons around, they could leave the torture tower unnoticed.
However, the terrain still required careful observation; it was easy to miss crucial details in unfamiliar surroundings.
The opportunity seemed so perfect that both couldn’t help but suspect it might be a trap.
