Chapter 42: Debate in the Abyssal Hall
Tina did not directly respond to Isabella’s words.
Here, not only Isabella but also Tina Leinster herself couldn’t fully trust her current state!
She had completely given up on her soul and will.
Even though Isabella had decided to gamble on Tina’s remaining noble soul, Tina found herself doubting her own trustworthiness.
“I will consider it… but don’t tell me the plan for now, because that succubus might be able to figure it out from my memories,” she said in a low voice to Isabella, offering her final response to the conversation.
Isabella agreed.
In the following three days…
The two “scheming” individuals finally calmed down.
Tina always pretended to be calm in front of Lolth, but, due to her lack of confidence in her acting skills, she reduced her chances of encountering Lolth. Instead, she focused on taking extra care of animals and plants, discreetly gathering seeds and young animals each day from various farms and pastures.
Meanwhile, Isabella used moving heavy objects under the Curse of Weakness as a form of training. She also scouted for escape routes during the process. Although she had learned from Tina and Lolth that they planned to move in a few days, heading to the western line, she still had many details left to investigate.
Lolth, who had no control over souls like Isabella and Tina, simply felt that “Isabella seems to be fitting in quickly” and “Tina seems more stable lately!”
Life, disrupted by the two unexpected guests, gradually returned to a semblance of normalcy. Despite Lolth’s precarious position and reputation in the Demon Army becoming increasingly uncontrollable, she ignored such matters, and everything seemed calm.
Now, Lolth enjoyed a routine of cooking and eating daily, accompanied by two companions who gave her feedback on her meals. She awaited the Little Devil’s notification on when to move.
However, during these three days, the continent and the Demon Army were in turmoil.
The situation in the West gradually settled, and the Demon King decided to allocate conquered lands to various demon clans, legions, and departments that had participated in the Western battle. The news, prioritizing the allocation, spread quickly within the Demon King’s Castle.
Apart from the distinguished Shelldor, representing the demon dragon clan, who received the largest and most prosperous city of the Vera Plain as their territory for their first merit, no other allocation was without disagreement. However, Other legions—especially the chaotic Evil Spirit Legion of the Third Legion, the Balrog Vanguard Legion of the Seventh Legion, and the Troll Mixed Legion of the Ninth Legion—entered into unprecedented debates.
Under the Demon King’s authority, the legionnaire leaders refrained from outright fighting, as infighting was strictly prohibited.
Since the Abyssal Demons were unified and consolidated, internal conflicts had been rare.
Nonetheless, the growing tension in the Abyssal Hall before the Demon King’s throne hinted at the possibility of imminent all-out war.
“Your Third Legion took a whole day and a half to capture White Moon Fortress and still dares to claim two cities as your territory! Your evil spirits are truly insatiable!”
“You foolish undead clan, if we were the ones fighting those elves, none of them would have escaped!”
“Pah! The first to reach the Anti-Demon Great Wall was a death warrior from our group, while the Ninth Legion just delayed time there and almost failed to hold the line. Do you even have a complete brain between the two of you? You should set up your territory in a cave on Dragonspine Mountain and dance with dwarves in the mines!”
“What did you say, Zakavier?”
“Do you want to challenge me?”
“Stop embarrassing yourselves in front of the Demon King, being so greedy. Even if you conquer large territories, can your evil spirits and trolls manage them properly? Besides, when it comes to significant achievements, apart from the Second Legion, it’s definitely our Seventh Legion! After all, the Seventh Legion and Second Legion fought together on two fronts!”
“Achilles, you shameless woman, following Her Excellency Shelldor around like a fool and now acting arrogant!”
“Weren’t you arguing with Her Excellency Shelldor in the camp before, looking unconvinced—now claiming all the merit as your own?”
“Initially, we considered you a colleague. Shelldor didn’t care, and we even tried to save face for you in front of the Demon King… but now you’ve crossed the line, thinking we wouldn’t notice. Even that heavily wounded Grand Knight was captured thanks to Lady Lolthlinda! It’s just that Lady Lolthlinda, being gracious, chose not to confront you!”
“It’s hilarious! Who got blasted by the dwarf cannon in Molten Iron Fortress, even with the Divine Artifact intel provided by Master Lolth? You trolls are not much better—and you, Zakaviel, even if Master Lolth took action, at least Isabella didn’t escape. But what about the White Moon Fortress legend? The first to break through the western line, yet you failed to capture even a few of those useless nobles from the human kingdoms!”
The three legionnaire leaders, all of legend rank, argued fiercely. Even though none of their expressions could turn red, the tension was palpable.
The Demon King, sitting on the throne, remained fully armored, tall, and imposing. Doyle Candice, standing beside her, glanced at the silent Demon King and realized it was time to intervene.
“Enough!”
“How dare you even mention Lord Lolth, it is she who deserves the credit for this victory,” scolded Doyle Candice, standing hands on hips in front of the three legionnaire leaders, “look at what Master Lolth did, she chose a remote town called Hillenbrand Town! It’s barren, sparsely populated, with no special resources – look at yourselves, don’t you feel ashamed!”
The three legionnaire leaders, chastised by Doyle, who was almost two levels lower in strength, couldn’t find words to argue back. After all, in front of the Demon King, Doyle’s words carried the same weight as the Demon King’s own.
“Even though Lady Shelldor chose Palgauro City with some selfish motives—it’s the closest place to Loess Plateau, strategically planning to intimidate the Holy Alliance further—Master Lolth’s choice…”
Doyle paused, glancing at the Demon King for any objection before continuing.
“Master Lolth’s choice holds a much deeper meaning. You will understand in the future. Your abilities are far inferior to Master Lolth’s!”
