Chapter 41: I Will Take You and Run Away!
After cheering herself up, Isabella cleared the dishes and followed Lolth’s instructions to place them into a magical device called the “automatic dishwasher.”
As the water magic circle on the device activated, Isabella couldn’t help but marvel at the succubus’s eccentricity and power.
Who would use precious magical materials and energy for washing dishes like this…
Creating magical tools was no simple feat—it required intricate craftsmanship and rare resources. Even so, most mages wouldn’t squander their materials on such trivial uses. If magic was needed for cleaning dishes, why not just cast a Clean Water Spell?
Though Isabella found this peculiar, she attributed it to Lolth’s unusual nature. What intrigued her more was how this succubus managed to imbue a simple meal with effects akin to a Magic Potion.
With this curiosity lingering in her mind, Isabella made her way to the semi-automatic greenhouse atop the tower.
Opening the greenhouse curtain, Isabella saw Tina working diligently.
The maid was dressed practically, wearing a farmer’s hat, long boots, and a traditional maid outfit. She carried a wooden bucket connected to a soft rubber tube. With one hand gripping the nozzle, Tina sprayed the vegetables with precision, occasionally pressing the switch to release the “special mixed Magic Potion.”
The sight stopped Isabella in her tracks.
“What are you doing?” she asked, incredulous.
Without looking up, Tina replied casually, “I’m spraying the vegetables with a mix of Magic Potions. It’s a special blend to promote growth, repel pests, shorten the growth cycle, and enhance flavor. It makes the crops grow faster and better.”
She then realized the identity of the visitor.
“Ah, Isabella…”
Tina sounded a bit surprised, even a little delighted. After all, both she and Isabella were in difficult situations. For Isabella to approach her willingly and even start a conversation—it seemed as though she no longer harbored as much resistance toward her.
Although Tina secretly wished Isabella could escape soon, having someone to share her predicament brought her a small sense of comfort.
Isabella nodded slightly before speaking. “Magic Potion… This succubus is truly extravagant, using it to water vegetables. Still, perhaps that’s why these ingredients are so special.”
“Huh? Special?”
Tina blinked in confusion, watching Isabella carefully observe the vegetables.
She had been with these vegetables day and night for some time, but had not found anything special about them!
Even though many of these vegetables were new to her, the planting and tasting confirmed that they seemed to be new varieties cultivated by Lolth.
There weren’t any significant differences compared to other vegetables.
If you had to say, the vegetables here always seemed to be extra delicious!
“These vegetables contain active magic,” Isabella remarked, her tone deliberate. “Not just the vegetables—the meats and grains as well. Everything seems imbued with magic.”
“Of course, that’s normal,” Tina replied, adjusting her farmer’s hat. “These vegetables are watered with Magic Potion, the livestock is fed enhanced feed, and the farms have magic arrays… Wait—did you say active magic?”
Tina realized halfway through her explanation that Isabella wasn’t talking about “magic,” but “active magic.”
“Yes, this Succubus Interrogator’s cooking has effects similar to Magic Potion. Today, I tasted dishes that can quickly restore strength and even have healing properties.”
Hearing this, Tina stopped spraying the potion, staring at the plants in astonishment.
As a wizard, Tina’s profession as a spellcaster meant she had a sharper perception than Isabella, quickly noticing something strange.
Before, just like Isabella, she hadn’t thought about there being “active magic” in cooking, she thought it was just the magic from the environment and kitchen tools.
But after sensing it, she was even more amazed than Isabella.
“These ordinary plants, they have developed magical qualities!”
Tina was greatly amazed.
Different species have different affinities for magic.
Most entities with active magic exhibit unique magical qualities.
Aside from highly intelligent beings such as humans, demi-humans, Orcs, elves, dwarves, and the abyssal demon race, anything else with active magic was typically classified as a monster.
The ingredients for Magic Potions were usually derived from monsters, so the idea of ordinary vegetables having active magic was unprecedented.
Active magic implied two significant things:
First, these vegetables could generate magic independently.
Second, with proper cultivation and teaching, these vegetables might even develop abilities akin to professions like warriors, mages, knights, or warlocks—possibly unleashing powerful skills.
Tina found the notion both fascinating and deeply unsettling.
But the biggest question loomed:
How did this succubus achieve this?
Especially since, according to Isabella, not only plants have active magic… but the livestock does too!
They exchanged glances, both harboring some worrying thoughts.
For example…
The alchemist could have created creatures, made forbidden artificial souls, implanted magic into living beings, or transformed monsters into vegetables.
There might even be evil hybrids created by crossing different species—like succubus!
Each idea was filled with distrust toward Lolth’s nature…
In other words, it was also a form of trust in this succubus, Lolth.
To believe that this succubus was definitely not a good thing!
“Damn, succubus…”
Isabella, full of a knight’s sense of justice, couldn’t hold back any longer and clenched her fists, whispering.
However, these things already existed.
They could not be destroyed, because that succubus undoubtedly knew how to recreate them.
These things might be evil, but they provided a significant advantage to one side in the war.
Although it was still unclear why the Demon Army had not widely spread these items, it was crucial not to let the Demon Army monopolize this unique advantage!
We must find a way to also bring these things to the Holy Alliance!
Thinking about this, Isabella looked at Tina and spoke solemnly.
“Tina Leinster, perhaps you have fallen, but right now, I am willing to bet on you… to bet that your soul still has an unyielding part.”
“You have successfully taken over the work on these crops and livestock, so you have the knowledge to nurture them. If you are willing, bring some seeds and young animals with you. On the day of escape, I will try to take you with me!”
