Chapter 380: Warrior Lolth!
United Kingdom of South Sotua, Silver Citadel.
Even though this place is only a straight distance of less than two hundred kilometers from New West Line, an ordinary Superoperator legion can reach it in a day, but it still looks like there is no sign of "alert."
The road out of the city is filled with mud puddles, and the low roar of monsters can be heard everywhere in the damp, swampy woods, while old magic arrow towers stand on the low city walls, having lost most of their magical power.
The guarding soldiers sat on either side of the city gate and in the lookout towers on the walls, showing no sign of moving at all.
Lolth, who arrived here using teleportation magic, looked at the shabby state of this city, one of the top ten in South Sotua, and felt quite confused.
"No wonder Old Harper’s captain sent him here…"
Lolth mumbled, looking at the mercenary badge and task receipt in her hands, unable to help but exclaim.
It is so easy to slip into a place like this.
Although it’s heard that the United Kingdom of South Sotua is clearing out traitors, spies, and information agents from the demon race, it seems that…
It seems that only in the royal zones and directly controlled cities will the enforcement be stricter.
In a union of city-states like this, the willingness to enforce rules is truly lacking.
While Lolth mused, she relaxed and boldly walked towards the city gate, wearing her level-three magical gauntlets and carrying a Meteor Hammer stained with monster blood.
Earlier, she considered climbing over the wall or similar methods to avoid the guards checking her documents, but it seems there is no need at all.
The inspections here are incredibly loose.
Lolth even saw many mercenaries and guards simply nodding to each other as they dragged the corpse of a magical beast and displayed their weapons and extraordinary energy, walking straight through the city gates.
This is a scene that is almost impossible to see in other countries and forces.
Even Orcs, when returning from hunting or herding into their tribe’s camps and villages, would usually hide their magic and weapons.
Even within the Demon Army, when a legion returns from the front lines to the Demon King’s Castle, there are restrictions on flying and magic.
While it is not uncommon for Superoperators from any force to enter cities and fight, most cities still at least pretend to impose control and restrictions.
The United Kingdom of South Sotua is the only place on the continent that is completely free and unrestricted.
This is also why mercenaries and adventurers choose to work hard in South Sotua; for many Superoperators, the United Kingdom of South Sotua really is a good environment.
Lolth also followed the local customs by releasing her "first elite level" energy, wearing high-quality armor and a pair of level three magical gauntlets, making her look like a skilled lone wolf mercenary.
Although in a bustling place like Silver Citadel town, a key city of South Sotua near several magical beast gathering spots, the Elite Level is only the core strength of slightly larger copper badge mercenary groups, it is still a force worth recruiting.
Especially Lolth in her iron armor, wielding a Meteor Hammer, is the most "practical" profession among adventurers and mercenaries, a traditional warrior.
Most importantly… even though Lolth hid her sharp horns and tail, she is still a succubus. Without deliberately changing her appearance, her delicate beauty and natural charm are enough to catch attention.
So, when this strange yet beautiful face appeared, many mercenaries entering and leaving the city whistled, and even the originally lazy guards perked up a bit.
"Hey, girl, want to team up?"
"I’m about to rank up to silver, want to go take on a quest together and then hit the tavern for a drink?"
"Welcome to the ‘Thornflower Mercenary Team’, miss—we only accept female adventurers, and we are trustworthy!"
"Nice hammer!"
Noisy voices reached Lolth, filled with desire or invitations, and everyone was clear about their intentions.
Lolth ignored them, instead hurrying towards the town, maintaining her image as a "tough mercenary who speaks little."
But at the entrance, the guard stopped her.
"Wait a moment, stranger… Your main guild does not belong to Silver Citadel, right?"
The young guard watched Lolth secretly, showing a smug expression he thought was charming.
Lolth looked at him and quietly took out two special silver coins for South Sotua, flicked them with her fingers, and with a "clink," they fell into his chest plate.
"I received a mission from the Mercenary Guild in Dingte Town. Some of them are to clear out monsters, and since I was nearby after finishing, I came here to submit the task."
Lolth said coldly, pulling out her mission receipt and her copper mercenary badge.
This was the excuse prepared for Old Harper, written on the inside of a paper bag, and Lolth used it directly now.
Dingte Town is a small place, not very big, but more chaotic than Silver Citadel. No one really knows who accepted what mission on any given day. Many mercenaries and adventurers gather there, including illegal immigrants from other forces, and many are even directly wanted.
Hearing "Dingte Town," and seeing the icy expression on her face, even the guard knew that a "beautiful woman" who could survive in Dingte Town, even if she were only of Elite Level, was not someone he could afford to provoke.
"Alright… The Mercenary Guild is straight ahead in the city, near the City Master’s inner fort on Main Street," the guard swallowed nervously and said, "I wish you safe travels and good fortune, madam."
"I wish you safe travels and good fortune as well."
Lolth replied using the common greeting from the west of the United Kingdom of South Sotua, walking in the direction of the city.
After passing through the city gate, the old stone-paved road was still uneven and filled with muddy puddles; the only difference was that there were many low, suspicious shops selling various magical materials and items, along with taverns and inns on both sides.
Most of the people on the street were mercenaries dressed as Superoperators; they laughed and joked, and now and then someone whistled or flirted with Lolth.
However, Lolth ignored them all and headed straight for the Mercenary Guild.
After pretending to confidently submit her task at the task delivery desk, Lolth came to the task posting wall in the hall, which was covered with numerous task notices, wanted posters, and wooden signs for short-term jobs and shared quests, where many mercenaries in battle attire and seemingly non-combatant "job agents" were carefully selecting their preferred tasks.
Lolth also paused here, beginning to examine the tasks displayed above.
