Chapter 34: I Will Offer You My Loyalty!
After Lolth sealed the report used to deceive funds and handed it to the little devil messenger, Tina happened to return to the Moon Elf Interrogation Chamber.
Tina observed Lolth as she moved her wrists and stretched lazily, and, following her agreement with Isabella, began fabricating stories for Lolth.
“Master Lolth,” Tina said after a while, still feeling somewhat embarrassed when addressing her, but now able to say it smoothly without much reaction. “After negotiating with Isabella, she has fully realized her current situation and is willing to cooperate with you.”
“Oh, okay, I understand… Wait, what did you say?”
Lolth, who had been stretching lazily, paused at Tina’s words. She looked at Tina in surprise and almost strained her waist! What was going on? How had she managed to persuade her so easily?
Lolth had asked Tina to come over, intending for both of them to calm down. But now, when Tina came to inform her, it turned out that the lady knight—who seemed so steadfast and fiercely independent—had been easy to convince?
Her serious and unfriendly face turned pale!
In traditional fantasy stories, characters like this would have been beaten to the brink of death, and even then, they wouldn’t have confessed!
And yet, when it came to her turn, she had quickly joined in the work.
It seemed the Holy Alliance people not only had problems in their minds, but their willpower and beliefs were also generally quite weak!
Lolth sighed and shook her head.
“I wonder what you said to her…”
Lolth couldn’t help but sigh, but halfway through her sigh, she suddenly realized something. She stopped, and her expression changed.
Lolth recalled what Tina had just said.
“She has fully realized her current situation.”
What situation?
This elf didn’t understand her own situation!
The “situation” Lolth wanted Isabella to be aware of was that she was not part of the evil demon race and had no ill intentions toward her!
By staying here, she could live safely and freely without worrying about leaking information or being executed.
Anyway, she wasn’t interested in those things!
This was exactly what Lolth had wanted to tell Tina earlier.
However… it seemed the communication between herself and Tina had been a complete failure.
Though Lolth didn’t know exactly how Tina had understood the situation of being a captive of the Demon Army, she was certain…
Tina definitely didn’t feel safe with the Interrogation Department or the interrogator being friendly.
So, the message Tina was delivering was entirely wrong!
It wouldn’t matter if Isabella didn’t listen. But based on Tina’s feedback, it seemed Isabella had indeed listened.
Lolth felt a headache coming on.
Judging by the good results, could it be that the elf hadn’t just scared the knight directly?
Thinking about it… it seemed quite possible!
After all, this Moon Elf Princess, although timid and scared in front of them…
Who knew what kind of personality she had behind closed doors?
Before Lolth had arrived in this world, she had seen some children who were obedient and sensible in front of their parents, but at school, they were arrogant and almost rude!
People who act one way in front of others but another behind their backs are not uncommon in this world.
Considering that the other person was at least a “princess,” it was possible that their personality hadn’t been as good before being captured. Perhaps they just didn’t show it because they were scared.
Maybe it was because she was spoiled and pampered normally that she felt like she was being mistreated now—even though she hadn’t done anything wrong!
Lolth suddenly felt like everything made sense!
It was possible that just earlier in that interrogation room, this elf had vented all the “grievances” she had suffered in the past few days onto the poor knight. Especially that young female knight, Isabella, who had almost stabbed Tina to death just moments ago.
The more Lolth thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
She looked at Tina meaningfully.
“Did you really make her understand her ‘situation’?”
Lolth decided to trick Tina first.
Tina looked into Lolth’s dark eyes as if Lolth could see through everything, feeling exposed and lowering her head in guilt.
“Y-yes…”
Tina nervously replied.
But deep down, she knew Lolth must have already known she was lying.
Maybe, she was completely aware of what Tina had said!
Tina almost forgot that her soul had no secrets in front of this succubus!
Watching Tina’s trembling body, Lolth realized that she hadn’t been truthful.
Even though the “truth” Lolth deduced wasn’t as genuine as what Tina originally said.
Lolth ignored Tina and walked toward the Ryman Interrogation Room.
It was more important to check what Tina had done to Isabella!
Rushing into the interrogation room, Lolth pushed the door open and found Isabella standing at the entrance.
As Lolth entered, the two of them stood face to face again.
This time, Isabella didn’t choose to attack Lolth.
She stood there, gritted her teeth, and said determinedly, “Lolth… Lady, I have been persuaded by Tina Leinster…”
Isabella lowered her head, her eyes hidden behind long lashes, avoiding direct eye contact with Lolth as if in a daze.
With her right hand forming a palm, she gently placed it on her left shoulder, took a small step back, and bowed slightly.
This was a common knightly courtesy on the continent, used by most knights regardless of nationality or race, except for the knights of The Church of Light, who followed a different set of rituals.
And this action represents…
“Isabella Anno Ruytberd zu Schwarzwald, I submit to you and offer you… my loyalty!”
With just a short sentence, her voice remained very calm, without any wavering.
Only a slight trembling in the final note made Lolth notice Isabella’s inner turmoil.
“She was really scared…”
Lolth scratched her head.
Although Tina seemed to have successfully transmitted the “misunderstanding” in her mind to Isabella like a contagious disease, this knight appeared unexpectedly sensible!
In that case, wasn’t it actually quite good?
After all, the battle on the western front was coming to an end, and when the dust settled, she would need to choose a new fiefdom.
The new building plan will start soon!
By then, if a knight was willing to help completely, it would make things much easier!
