Chapter 30: Welcome to the Interrogation Department!
When Isabella returned to her senses, she found herself sitting in a strange room.
The room featured predominantly grey and white tones, illuminated by gentle, diffuse light from unseen sources.
She was lying on a strange metal folding bed, facing a set of simple and unidentified metal tables and chairs.
She had anti-magic shackles on her wrists, ankles, and neck, enhanced to deal with her strong physical abilities – she could feel the Curse of Weakness on them, reducing her strength, stamina, and speed.
“Strange…”
Isabella felt confused.
In the previous moment, she remembered holding a knight’s long spear, ready to kill the captive elf.
In the next moment, she found herself sitting here, wearing shackles.
The knight’s long spear she had picked up temporarily was gone, and her battle-worn knight armor had changed into a black dress.
She would definitely not wear this, as she had never worn a dress in her entire life.
“What on earth is going on?”
Isabella felt extremely strange as she stood up from the bed.
Although she wore anti-magic shackles, it appeared that the other side meant to allow her freedom of movement.
Looking around the room, she found no one, only two closed doors.
One door seemed to be a mismatched double wooden door, with a style that felt out of place in the room. It was very old-fashioned and heavy, like a door in a castle.
The other door was a simple metal door without any magic aura.
Isabella walked up to the locked double doors and tried to push them, but it had almost no effect.
The large door seemed to be magically sealed, and without magic herself, even without the weakening power of Curse of Weakness, she couldn’t easily push it open.
So Isabella turned to look at the other door.
She walked over to the slightly narrow metal door and gently turned the spherical doorknob.
Surprisingly, the door opened just like that.
And there, Isabella saw a succubus standing outside the door, seemingly about to open it.
Black hair, black eyes, a lifeless expression, wearing strange oversized tops and shorts.
Isabella could not mistake this unique appearance.
It’s the succubus she was just about to kill a few seconds ago!
“It’s you!”
Isabella suddenly saw things more clearly.
No matter where she was or what was happening, her goal remained the same.
She still aimed to kill the succubus!
She whispered and prepared to tackle and wrestle the despicable succubus!
As a knight, she excelled not only in riding, spearing, and swordsmanship but also in unarmed close combat, showcasing her versatility in battle.
These skills were the result of rigorous classical knight training under the stern guidance of Grand Duke Schwarzwald.
Meticulous and thorough, even in hand-to-hand combat which was rarely used in real battles, she had undergone intense training.
Isabella’s “genius” partly comes from her natural talent, but also from the training she received when she was young.
Succubus itself is not good at fighting, and its rare attacks rely on Charm abilities, spells from the mental and soul domains.
So, Isabella believed that even if she was cursed with Weakness, she might still be able to kill this Succubus Interrogator with a surprise attack!
Letting the other party know that it was a big mistake to underestimate her abilities!
However, as she raised her body and wrapped her hands around the slender waist of the other, her head suddenly felt dizzy.
“Thud!”
She lost her balance and fell heavily to the ground.
From above, the succubus’s somewhat helpless voice could be heard.
“Ah—don’t be so excited, you’ve just woken up from a day of unconsciousness, and severely drained your life force and soul… If I hadn’t been generous and used something to heal your body and soul a bit, you would have peacefully passed away long ago.”
She used her hands to push herself up, feeling her empty stomach and weakness apart from the Curse of Weakness coming from her body, she looked up at the succubus that seemed to be mocking her.
Then, she realized that she didn’t seem to have the ability to kill the other party.
Isabella calmed down.
She sat down by the door frame, calming the panic and fear in her instinct, and started a conversation with the succubus in front of her.
“What did you do to me?”
Lolth looked at this ice blue long-haired girl knight with a determined look and calm face, her features beautiful yet cold.
Although still hostile, it seemed much easier to communicate with than Tina initially.
“I said, in a way, I saved your life.”
Lolth replied calmly.
Isabella didn’t appreciate it. She didn’t respond to Lolth’s words but kept talking about her thoughts.
“In my memory, just a moment ago, I was outside the Demon King Castle, ready to face you and the Elf Princess… It was the Moon Elf at that moment who struck hard,” she paused for a moment, then continued calmly, “But the next moment, I was already here. Without a doubt, there was a gap in my consciousness.”
She looked at Lolth, a hint of sharpness in her eyes.
Even at the brink of weakness, being at the main headquarters of the Demon King Castle, she still seemed like the leader of the Northman Knight Order, Ryman’s sharpest sword!
“So, what have you done – tampered with my soul, erased my memories, or altered my perception?”
“No, I don’t know anything, I passed out too,” Lolth answered very seriously, “You were out for a day, and me and that elf were out for half a day. We all fainted together at the Trading Square; I don’t remember anything.”
Isabella showed a look of “completely unconvinced” and “Who are you kidding,” but before she could ask further, Lolth interrupted her.
“But I can give you a reasonable explanation, that is, you were severely injured and exhausted, pushing yourself to use magic and knight skills continuously, which caused you to pass out. But your actions also scared me and Tina who were present there… that Moon Elf. Then, Balrog Lord Achilles arrived and captured you,” Lolth shrugged, showing a face of whether you believed or not, “Anyway, this version is widely accepted and circulated within the Demon Army. Whether you believe it or not… it doesn’t matter. This is the ‘actual’ situation and the most reasonable explanation at that time.”
“As for where you were…”
Lolth took a step back, revealing the grayish-white corridor behind her.
Next to the neatly arranged doors in the corridor, different nameplates were hanging.
“Welcome to the Interrogation Department, Miss Isabella of the Ryman Northman Knight Order!”
