Chapter 297: You Believe in That Nonsense Too, Don’t You!
Although the eyes and spies of The Church of Light are almost the only ones still active around Hillenbrand Town, that does not mean that The Church of Light is the only one paying attention to the happenings in Hillenbrand Town.
The Republic of Seychelles and the United Kingdom of South Sotua have both temporarily withdrawn for their own reasons, but other forces still have some focus on this small town.
Especially those who have "prisoners" in this town.
In the northern highlands of the Ryman Empire, where the elevation is so high that snow covers the mountains year-round, the fields are filled with mountain coniferous forests and rivers formed by melting snow, and this is the territory of the Grand Duke Schwarzwald, the most noble family in the entire Ryman Empire, apart from the royal family.
The summer land of Schwarzwald is not cold, but it is not very hot either because the snow-capped mountains are nearby.
However, this cool retreat has seen few visitors because of the crossing red cross family crest.
But today, the Ducal Residence in the Schwarzwald land rarely welcomes a guest.
"Sir, there is a fairy outside who wishes to see you."
In the study, the old but straight-backed butler looked at Grand Duke Schwarzwald, who was reading at his desk, and said softly.
"Oh? A fairy?"
Grand Duke Schwarzwald lifted his head, showing a face that resembled Isabella’s but more refined, like a thin poet or artist.
Although he is middle-aged, he only has a few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, and his ice-blue eyes are much deeper than Isabella’s coldness and pride.
Just by his appearance, it is hard to imagine that this middle-aged man is the "Tiger of the Snowfields," feared by the entire Ryman Empire and dreaded by the Superoperators of the Republic of Seychelles, who can crush the skulls of Superlative Level battle giants with his bare hands!
He put down the book about "Abyssal Demon," rubbed his forehead, and said to the butler.
"A fairy has come to visit? How strange… I don’t remember ever having trouble with a fairy."
"In response to the master, the visitor calls herself ‘Froer·Donna·White Feather.’ If she is not lying about her name, she should be the current ‘Grand Priestess’ of the White Elf clan."
"The Grand Priestess of the White Elf?"
Isabella’s biological father, Duke Heidegger, became even more curious and then showed a thoughtful expression.
"Well, where is she now? I should meet this ‘important person.’"
"She is waiting just outside your study… Master, this is Miss Froer’s own request."
As the butler said this, Duke Heidegger nodded.
"Then… let her in."
"Understood, sir."
After the butler left, a beautiful elf wearing a pure white priest robe, adorned with tiny gemstones, walked in through the door.
Her figure was graceful and elegant, her skin was snow white and glowing, and her light pink hair was gathered at the back of her head. Her eyes seemed dreamlike and distant, like the moon reflected in water.
This was a beauty that would make anyone lose their focus for a moment.
However, Duke Heidegger appeared very calm.
"Nice to meet you, Heidegger Palako Ruitherberd von Grand Duke Schwarzwald," Froer said, standing in front of the desk and giving a slight bow. "I am Froer from the White Elf tribe."
"I know you; it’s not the first time we meet. We saw each other during the signing of the Holy Alliance in the form of a ‘projection,’" Duke Heidegger replied, also standing up from his chair. "So, Froer priest… you have traveled far from the elf territory for a reason, I presume?"
"Yes… I won’t beat around the bush; I have come for ‘Hillenbrand Town.’"
Froer said succinctly.
"Ah, I know that," when he heard the name of the town, Duke Heidegger appeared very calm, even showing a slight smile, "That is where the demon race imprisoned my useless daughter… I heard she was seduced by a demon and betrayed the Holy Alliance… This is really… oh dear."
Duke Heidegger shook his head with a smile.
"It sounds like you don’t care much about this matter."
Froer asked back.
"Of course I care, but caring doesn’t help. Since Isabella is still alive, I have no reason to take action. Whether she ‘betrayed’ or was ‘seduced’… that’s her own business," Duke Heidegger said lightly, "You came here for the princess that the Moon Elves lost, didn’t you?"
"That’s right, Tina Leinster of the New Moon, she is like a sister to me."
Froer replied calmly as well.
"So, will you take action for this? Froer priest? Even if it means breaking the ‘balance’ and entering the ‘next stage’ early?"
Duke Heidegger’s tone suddenly became serious as he looked at the elf in front of him and asked.
"The guy from Seychelles has already taken action," Froer immediately replied, "so it shouldn’t be a problem for us to move a little, right?"
"That is the highest council member of the demon race who wants to kill Seychelles… And because of this matter, the gods have already clashed at a higher level—do you want to make things worse, Miss Priest? Or do you, the self-proclaimed superior elves, not even understand something like this?"
Heidegger said sternly.
Even though he still did not have any extraordinary power flowing from him, just his presence made him stand there like an unyielding snow mountain, dignified and untouchable!
"Of course I know, I even know that the source is in ‘Hillenbrand Town,’ where that succubus is… Just hearing the surname tells me it’s no simple matter," Froer calmly responded, without showing any signs of being affected. "However… what I mean by action isn’t to take action, it’s just to invite you to take a look."
"After all, I think you must be worried just like me… I have watched over Tina for sixty-four years, and sometimes she seems no different from my own daughter."
As Froer said this, Duke Heidegger calmed down.
"Well… it is very worrying."
His terrifying presence faded, and he seemed to transform back into a middle-aged father.
"However, for people like us, even our actions can have immeasurable effects…"
"That is why I have come to find you," Froer said calmly, "I have a way to completely erase our presence, even the gods will not notice… but I need your help—will you believe me?"
