Chapter 280: Inventions and Cooking

Lolth handed these tasks to Kanor and Dorothy, not really because she wanted to be lazy.

For Lolth, even though she loves to relax and take it easy, cooking and food preparation are definitely not things she wants to slack off on.

The reason she asked Kanor and Dorothy for help is that she truly needs to prepare something that no one else can make, as a "surprise" for the celebration.

Just fireworks, delicious food, drinks, and music are not enough!

Since she wanted to hold a lively celebration, Lolth decided to make it a grand event like the world has never seen before!

"Let’s consider it a warm-up for the third phase of construction… It’s time to bring out some real surprises…"

Lolth appeared in the laboratory, holding several space magic bags filled with various high-level magical materials she had collected and purchased, and she smiled.

"It has taken so long, it’s time to get started… The rune technology is almost fully understood, now all the puzzle pieces are in place."

Lolth thought to herself, and then in the torture tower’s laboratory, magic surged, and ancient runes appeared around Lolth. The magical materials from the abyss and different parts of the continent floated in the air, moving and changing shape and properties under the pull of her magic.

The wide variety and vast number of magical materials blended together, creating delicate connections between them, and the final product was not too big.

It seemed that Lolth was creating some kind of magic device, but there was no such small yet complex magic device in the entire continent.

Even the creations from highly advanced ancient magical civilizations looked completely different in structure and characteristics from what Lolth was forming in her hands.

In other words, Lolth was crafting something that had never appeared across three generations and multiple planes.

This was also something Lolth had imagined making countless times since she arrived in this world.

"Although most of the time, different kinds of magic arrays could replace the functions, isn’t the purpose of technological products to benefit everyone in order to be considered successful…"

Lolth looked at the thing that was slowly taking shape and showed a satisfied smile.

"Let the civilization from another world and the spark of fire come to burn brightly in this world again."

While Lolth quietly created an extraordinary product that could make any alchemist, master blacksmith, and magic device maker kneel and bow to her, in the kitchen, Kanor and Dorothy were busily preparing food.

Today, both of them put in their utmost effort.

"Sister Dorothy, you take care of the meat; it all needs to be marinated!"

"Okay, Chef Kanor—I’ve already prepared the butter mashed potatoes and just need to add the final seasoning."

"No problem, I’ll make some adjustments…"

Although Tina wanted to assign help to the two girls after Lolth asked her, Kanor and Dorothy politely declined.

After all, for the two girls, this was Master Lolth’s trust and test of them, so they had to give it their all and didn’t really need anyone else’s help.

The cooking techniques that Lolth taught them were always about how one person could use extraordinary powers and magic devices to complete a dish quickly and smoothly. Since Master Lolth taught this way and Lolth did it the same, the two little girls felt it was only right to take on the challenge themselves!

Moreover, the sudden decision to hold a celebration made things a bit complicated and rushed for Tina. Even though the residents of Hillenbrand Town were enthusiastic, and many super operators with experience were available, they still didn’t have enough hands to help.

The two sensible little girls did not want to add more worries to Tina, who already had enough on her plate.

In the entire kitchen, besides the two little girls helping, there was only that turtle.

As a sea creature that had been a sailor in its past life, this turtle had probably eaten more fish than most people have eaten grains of rice. When it comes to seafood and how to prepare it, this turtle had knowledge that could rival Lolth’s.

With him guiding them, Kanor and Dorothy found handling seafood easier.

At the same time, this turtle also took on the role of taste tester.

"Hmm—it’s a bit salty, but the residents of Hillenbrand Town should like it; after all, these folks have a crazy love for strong flavors."

"Wow, this fish is cut really thick. Go back and slice it again, little chef! Fish slices should be thin to taste good!"

"There is too much liquor to remove the smell, little princess. This is not your Golden Peacock, and no one wants to eat those tasteless, watery things."

"Vegetable soup! Vegetable soup! It’s time to turn off the heat – it won’t burn, but if you keep cooking it, the starch will make it sticky and really disgusting!"

I have to say, this turtle may talk back, but its taste is quite picky, clearly having eaten a lot of good things.

Plus, the two little girls often practiced cooking with it around, and it even listened in on cooking lessons, so even Kanor’s dishes, it could give some tips.

Soon, with the efforts of the three of them, a variety of large but delicate dishes were served. Cold cuts, salads, and platters made from different seafood were the main focus, complemented by mashed potatoes, roasted meat, pies, and pizzas – all the kind of food that looks perfect for a party – displayed in the kitchen’s serving area, temporarily kept fresh with a magic device.

But looking at the dazzling array of over ten dishes, Kanor and Dorothy frowned slightly.

Although this was an ‘almost perfect dinner menu’ with strict quality control and nearly perfect flavors for each dish, also considering the differences in dining experiences from the combinations of the dishes, still…

It feels like something is missing.

After all, this celebration dinner is not only for all the residents of Hillenbrand Town, but it’s also for Master Lolth!

But even though it is very complete and perfect, the world feels too ordinary!

It is like a picture of a beautiful landscape with flying birds, walking beasts, flowers, trees, and stones; everything is nice, but… not impressive enough!

It lacks a "finishing touch" and a "show-stopper" to make the whole banquet perfect.

"What should I do…?"

Kanor fell into deep thought.

She was thinking about which of her main dishes could take the spotlight and become the star of the banquet.

Now, these overly impressive banquets turned into a burden instead!

As she looked at her little elder martial sister’s expression, Dorothy also began to think.

Soon, her gaze landed on a purple space magic bag.

Feeling the huge waves of magic inside, Dorothy’s thoughts became more scattered, and she thought of a possibility.

"Martial Sister Kanor, should we challenge ourselves with… a difficult option?"
