Chapter 25: Hope the Top Leaders of the Holy Alliance Are Okay
No matter how strange Tina’s thoughts were, and no matter how far along she was in her self-strategy, Lolth was too lazy to deal with this Elf Princess.
As Tina was starting to accept the fact that she was “fallen,” Lolth had to admit that she was also becoming more and more in-sync with this Elf Princess.
The two of them proceeded to walk calmly to the edge of the gates of the Demon King Castle.
As they left the main buildings of the Demon King Castle, which consisted of tall tower-like structures and connecting galleries, they encountered more members of the demon race.
Especially near the outskirts of this place, the frontline battle was intense, with demon scouts and messengers flying around in the sky, and logistics supplies and war loot creating a crowded and bustling scene on the ground.
Inside the Demon King Castle, before Lolth and Tina left, many demons who recognized Lolth greeted her respectfully.
“Your Excellency Interrogator, how are you?”
“Your Excellency Lolthlinda, the logistics support unit of the Second Legion sends their regards to you!”
The old Lolth was used to receiving certain greetings and formalities, but it was never as enthusiastic and respectful as it was now.
However, she quickly understood the reason behind all of this.
Perhaps the news of her “intelligence” had spread…
After all, the good news from the front lines was delivered by messengers from the Second, Seventh, and Ninth Legions. Their intelligence, like Shelldor’s, played a significant role in the newfound respect that she was now given.
After all…
Lolth could not believe that her plan had actually worked.
Walking alongside Lolth, Tina also felt really uncomfortable due to all the attention the other person was getting.
Wearing a maid outfit that made her feel extremely embarrassed, she wished she could disappear into thin air.
And who would have thought, out of nowhere came all these demon creatures, giving her playful looks, then admiringly glancing at Lolth.
It wasn’t just Tina’s imagination at work, but these things were actually happening!
Some outspoken demon creatures, like the Barbarian Demon or the Balrog, would even openly comment!
“Is this the once proud Elf Princess who is now completely under Lord Lolth’s control… Truly deserving of Lord Lolth!”
“Who would’ve thought the noble Elf Princess has been reduced to a servant, hahaha!”
“I wonder how it feels for Lord Lolth to be served by the esteemed Elf Princess every night?”
Despite Lolth trying to stop every impolite comment from the Abyssal Demons, these simple-minded folks just kept coming, each spouting something similar in the end!
Even though there weren’t that many dim-witted demons near the city gate at the moment…
Each sentence made Tina’s heart waver!
‘Indeed, this is why she brought me out – to have me face the scrutiny, to realize my lowly status and humiliating identity!’
‘Is this showing off? Indeed, succubus creatures are truly wicked and twisted!’
Thinking of this, Tina felt extreme sadness overcome her and lowered her head.
Of course, Lolth did not enjoy the spotlight shining on her, becoming the center of attention as a demon race. This lazy fish felt that this situation was, indeed, not in her favor.
Therefore, she quickened her pace.
The only benefit of becoming famous was that the stone gargoyle guards at the city gate finally seemed to recognize her, this reclusive individual.
“Master Lolth!”
“Interrogator, sir!”
With two deep and strong voices, the stone gargoyles on either side of the large doors bowed slightly as they activated the magic gate for Lolth, and the main gate slowly rose.
It was important to note that before all of this Lolth rarely left her chambers, and these two creatures, though alive, were not very smart – not even as smart as puppet golems – usually causing a delay for Lolth.
Even though she would show them her Token of the Interrogation Department, these creatures would usually take half an hour to understand how to properly flip the token because they would hold it upside down.
Likely due to this delay, the aerial protective magic array would automatically change to identify whether the visitor was an Abyssal Demon or not.
If not for this default, scouts and messengers would likely be delayed every time!
This time, they were swiftly allowed to pass, giving Lolth a strange, fleeting feeling.
Even Tina, who clearly wasn’t an Abyssal Demon, swiftly and smoothly passed through the city gates because she was with her.
‘It’s actually quite nice to have a bit of fame…’
As soon as the idea popped into her head, Lolth was startled by it. She shook her head vigorously, and reaffirmed her determination.
The convenience brought by fame and status always came with a cost!
Every gift of fate already had a hidden price marked on it!
She absolutely would not be deceived.
With this in mind, Lolth was even more determined to stick to her chosen path of being a lazy person.
Although the demon king would most likely rely on her for more information.
But whatever she said next, the likelihood that it would be accurate this time was slim!
But on second thought… not every time there would be a Moon Elf Princess like Tina Leinster Newmoon who was captured by them this time!
Most of the top members of the Holy Alliance were pretty difficult to catch.
Even if the demon king and the frontline generals changed their minds and started paying attention to intelligence, it’s unlikely that they would have the opportunity to have such an Elf member be interrogated like this.
While Lolth was comforting herself in this manner, two trolls from the battlefield cleaning crew, who were transporting loot, chatted and pushed a cart full of loot past her.
“Oh, buddy, looks like the fortress in the western front has been mostly destroyed. They appear to have caught quite a few old folks…”
“I heard the big shots have captured several people. Buddy, this time the Holy Alliance is really losing out!”
Tina and Lolth’s faces changed when they heard this.
“Hopefully Sister Jacob and the others are okay…”
The main defenders of the White Moon Fortress are the Moon Elves and White Elves, which happened to be the two tribes Tina was most familiar with, so the legends inside, while not exactly family, were still acquaintances to her.
Lolth heard Tina’s words slip out and echoed them.
“Indeed, it would be good if everyone isn’t caught…”
Even though the tone was very sincere, when Tina heard these words, they naturally took on a different meaning.
After all, their positions and identities were completely different!
Tina didn’t believe for one moment that Lolth genuinely hoped that the leaders of the Holy Alliance wouldn’t get caught!
It was like a cat pretending to mourn for a mouse, crying louder than a trumpet, but everyone knew it was just because it didn’t get to eat that warm meal.
However, this was just a small incident after all.
Whether it was Lolth or Tina, neither of their desires could influence or shake the situation on the frontline.
So Lolth didn’t waste too much energy on this matter.
Because the Trading Square… had just arrived!
