Chapter 204: The Showdown, I Can Use the God of Light Technique
The next morning, as the Plane Magic Tide concluded and the Oracles Knight Order withdrew, the entire Vera Plain returned to its quiet and peaceful state. Zakavido, Majimaji, and Shelldor sensed the silent retreat of The Church of Light and sent messengers to report this favorable news to the Demon King Castle—naturally, they did not forget to highlight Lady Lolth’s remarkable achievements and her outstanding conquests once again.
In Cassilda City, after liberating Achilles, Doyle Candice meticulously wrote a detailed report about her experiences throughout the entire Plane Magic Tide.
Doyle, being more perceptive than these military leaders, recognized how vital Lolth’s information was in the grand scheme of things.
Meanwhile, Lolth was too preoccupied to concern herself with the “negative” effects of the last information she had shared.
Because she now confronted an even greater problem.
Inside the torture tower, within the Moon Elf Interrogation Chamber, Lolth, Tina, Isabella, Kanor, and the Golem Puppet representing Kululu gathered around a wooden table.
On the table rested a Rod of Eden, its power fluctuations now subdued.
Lolth massaged her temples, feeling a headache, and observed the incredulous expressions of everyone around her before she spoke slowly.
“Today, I summoned everyone here; it is essentially holding an internal meeting between the Superoperators of the torture tower… The first and main topic is to ask how you all think we should handle this object.”
She truly could not conceive of how to address this Light Artifact, so she needed to gather insights from others.
Except for Tina, the others appeared somewhat uncertain about what this item was.
Eight-year-old Kanor perceived the immense power of Holy Light above her. After studying and reading in the torture tower for some time, she had learned about the special extraordinary powers of the main forces in the land and naturally formed a vague hypothesis about what this object might be.
“Master Lolth, did you steal from the God of Light?”
She inquired quite seriously.
“You shouldn’t phrase it like that,” Lolth promptly denied, “Last night, this object flew up to the rooftop and landed in my arms—damn it, it’s the one causing trouble, it is attached to me!”
As Lolth stated this, to demonstrate her point, she picked up the light staff and walked to the window to throw it out.
Witnessing this scene, Isabella, who held a bag of chips in her hand, was slightly astonished.
“Lolth, this is a Divine Artifact. Are you certain it’s appropriate to just throw it around?”
“It’s not your place to instruct Lolth’s master how to do things. Whatever Lolth’s master does has its own significance. Just observe.”
Tina listened to Isabella and immediately turned to look at her and replied.
Isabella also glanced at Tina, grabbed a bag of chips, stuffed some into her mouth, and crunched while saying, “I was merely asking, it’s not good to strike a little child…”
Lolth’s face displayed an expression of despair.
“If only it would remain motionless when I throw it on the ground, that would be splendid.”
After a moment, there were two “thuds” at the interrogation room door, and then the doorknob turned.
The Rod of Eden, glowing with Holy Light, flew smoothly back to the table and settled down again.
“See, it behaves like this.”
Lolth extended her hands and leaned back wearily against the chair.
“It must be Lolth’s charm and noble character that have even captivated the Light Artifact! This indicates you are more deserving of controlling this Divine Artifact than the Lady of Light or even the God of Light!”
Tina remarked admiringly.
“So Master Lolth can stand alongside the God of Light,” Kanor nodded slightly at Tina’s words and concurred, “No wonder I feel that everything Master Lolth does is so mysterious…”
Isabella wanted to comment further, but decided not to disrupt the atmosphere and continued consuming chips.
“We shouldn’t make such statements. Even though the God of Light doesn’t appear petty, it’s prudent to speak carefully. Those gods can be quite peculiar,” Lolth said with a helpless expression. “Anyway, you’ve digressed… The issue concerns this Light Artifact—how are we supposed to manage it?”
“This object not only cannot be discarded, but it also constantly emits Holy Light. Whether it’s detected by other demon races or noticed by The Church of Light, it will create significant problems,” Lolth sighed while regarding the Rod of Eden. “And there’s no magical material that can truly contain a Light Artifact… What awaits us could be powerful forces dispatched by various groups seeking to ally with The Church of Light or even assassins trained by The Church of Light themselves… This could potentially transform Hillenbrand Town into the epicenter of a conflict.”
After Lolth explained this, the others finally grasped the gravity of the situation and began to contemplate seriously.
“I have a question, Lolthlinda: how did this object come into your possession?”
Isabella finally regained some of her former Grand Knight demeanor and inquired after consideration.
Lolth surveyed the room, glanced at the individuals present, and sighed.
“You are all people I can trust… so let me reveal something—Kululu, you must promise not to inform the Demon King about this.”
The Golem Puppet nodded, and then Lolth rubbed her hands together, generating a strong, pure power of Holy Light that was even more authentic than what most Cardinals could produce.
Tina, who had previously witnessed Lolth’s formidable abilities several times, remained composed, but the others, including Kanor, exhibited expressions of astonishment.
Especially when the Rod of Eden on the table joyfully leaped up, began to orbit around Lolth, and emitted a Holy Light that resonated with the Holy Light in her hands.
Lolth calmly stated, “That’s the situation.”
The first to respond was Isabella.
“…What do you mean ‘that’s the situation’—Lolthlinda, you can utilize Holy Light? You are employing Holy Light!”
Kanor inhaled deeply and recalled what Lolth had taught her.
“‘All the power in the world can be comprehended’… I understand now, Master Lolth, I was too naive! Your wisdom transcends anything I can envision!”
Finally, after an extended silence, the Golem Puppet’s chest illuminated with blue light and a puzzled voice emerged.
“Lolth… you are actually a spy for The Church of Light? I truly cannot believe this!”
The voice resembled that of a young girl who had recently entered her voice-changing phase.
“I am your aunt—Kululu, did I frighten you? I’ll explain the principle later, but you must promise not to tell anyone in the Demon Army!”
“You underestimate me; do I appear to be someone who would betray a friend?”
After saying this, the Golem Puppet ceased flashing.
