Chapter 196: The Sleeping Dorothy and the Surprising Tina
Although Lolth said the evil god could not be trusted, she knew deep down that the power granted by this evil god was truly harmless.
Who would have thought that the scroll in the little girl’s hand was a fake? It appeared capable of teleportation, but in reality, it led to a “Chaotic Space.”
Normally, if Dorothy were to gradually absorb the runic power injected by the evil god, her talent from her heroic bloodline should eventually enable her to utilize this power herself.
After all, it was not even the Power of the Evil God and posed no harm to the human body itself.
Currently, the conflict of these powers caused Dorothy to faint, simply because she was just under a level seven spell and in a “near-death state.” Her body had to exert all its strength to resist the magical assault, resulting in this aftereffect.
However, if not for this stress response, she would have likely perished before the magic fully unleashed and would not have survived until Lolth arrived.
After assessing Dorothy’s condition, Lolth sighed.
“Another troublesome matter…”
Leaving this little girl here was completely out of the question; if she remained in this state, she would surely die.
Even if one does not perish directly from the clash of powers, they might go mad or become weakened due to the power surge, and be treated as prey by Vera Plain’s monsters, or simply remain comatose until self-destruction.
Lolth, like Patricia, might not appear to be someone who speaks about feelings, but in truth, she cannot ignore a person she has shared an adventure with, who counts as “half a friend.”
Sending her back to the Holy Alliance would certainly not work—even without hearing Dorothy’s explanation like Patricia had, Lolth could still determine that the scroll’s problem wasn’t that Dorothy had mistaken its type.
From the residual space waves and the torn remnants of the scroll, it was clearly a carefully disguised magical scroll.
In other words, someone from Dorothy’s homeland or from the kingdom called “Golden Peacock” wanted her, the princess, to perish in demon territory.
Lolth absolutely refused to take blame for this and would not let them succeed.
At least during their time together, Lolth could tell that Dorothy was a good person.
Therefore, there was no reason to hesitate.
“Forget it… It might be troublesome, but what can I do about it…”
She whispered to herself and used her pure, gentle magic to temporarily help Dorothy control the wild power within her body. After Dorothy’s pained expression eased somewhat and she appeared more comfortable, Lolth released a momentary sigh of relief.
But Lolth knew she was merely treating the symptoms; this action did not address the root problem.
To truly ensure her safety, Lolth needed to guide her further.
The magical conflict inside Dorothy’s body was so complex that guiding it without any adverse effects was as challenging as performing major surgery.
It was clearly unsuitable to attempt this in the wilderness…
The urgent priority was to return to the Torture Tower first.
Because Dorothy was essentially a ticking time bomb, Lolth did not employ space magic or other spells again, but chose a more cumbersome method.
She struggled slightly as she hoisted Dorothy onto her back and began walking toward Hillenbrand Town.
“Although she is very slender, she is still a person and has weight.”
After carefully applying several spells to enhance her endurance, strength, and speed, Lolth felt somewhat more at ease and slowly proceeded toward the northern boundary of Hillenbrand Town with the unconscious Dorothy on her back.
Before reaching Hillenbrand Town, Lolth spotted Tina waiting in the same location from a distance.
“Master Lolth, let me assist you.”
Upon seeing Lolth’s figure appear in the distance, seemingly carrying someone, Tina quickly approached and offered.
“No need, this little girl is in a special condition, so please don’t use any magic on her for now,” Lolth advised, adding, “Just go back… Why are you waiting here?”
“Waiting for the master is a maid’s duty.”
Tina replied with a smile, looking at Dorothy on Lolth’s back, then continued to inquire, “So, did something happen to her?”
“Yes, it seems that a space magic scroll was tampered with by someone close to her, probably involving some royal secrets… Wait a moment?”
Lolth was midway through her explanation when she unexpectedly glanced at Tina.
She had felt something strange about Tina this time; something just didn’t seem right.
“What’s wrong?”
Tina noticed Lolth studying her, touched her own face, and tilted her head curiously, “Lolth, is there something on my face?”
For a moment, Lolth couldn’t articulate what was wrong. After pondering briefly while standing still, she finally understood the issue.
“Don’t you think it was I who caused this little girl to be stranded in Vera Plain?”
She looked at Tina and asked tentatively.
When Lolth posed this question, a blush appeared on Tina’s face again, as if recalling her past behavior.
“I’m sorry, Lolth… I misunderstood you before. I completely realize now that you are not an ‘evil’ or ‘chaotic’ being…”
Her voice grew softer until it was barely audible, but Lolth still comprehended everything.
“In the past… it was my own misunderstanding about Lolth… You are not the terrible, evil, and deceitful succubus that rumors and stories describe. You have no intention of tormenting or controlling me, nor do you harbor ambitions to rule the continent or transform all the beautiful young women of different races into your servants and livestock…”
Tina said this, and although Lolth was pleased that the misunderstanding had been cleared up, she still felt helpless about Tina’s rather absurd stereotype.
“Well, I’m glad you recognize your misconception of me,” Lolth finally felt relieved, thinking, “At least the misunderstanding is resolved.” She scratched her head and continued, “Since you now understand that I don’t intend to turn others into my servants, you can also change how you address me… and if you wish to change out of that maid outfit, you may.”
But unexpectedly, Tina raised her head, regarding Lolth with her emerald green eyes, her gaze steadfast and sincere.
“No, I want to be your servant, to follow you. This is a choice I make from the heart, even after knowing the complete truth.”
Tina said this with a remarkably determined expression.
Blushing Ralsei UwU
Horray, now Tina is a fair game!
