Chapter 186: The Nameless Hall and Mysterious Death
With this thought, Lolth increased the speed of the magic crystal boat.
Considering they were approaching a building that clearly seemed to be “the key location,” Lolth and Patricia remained fully alert as they accelerated the crystal boat, scanning and sensing magic at full power, always ready to deploy shields or other defensive spells.
However, this time, they still encountered nothing.
It appeared that the tentacle monster they had encountered before was the last living creature in this silent space.
And it had been killed by Lolth and Patricia together.
The ship approached the area of the huge building and began to pass over the massive stone circles on the water’s surface.
From a distance, these circles looked as if they were just above the water… but getting closer revealed that these blue stones formed seamless circular platforms, each rising more than two people high above the water’s surface.
When looking at these circles from afar, each seemed only slightly taller than the water because each had a surface area as vast as a noble’s grand hall.
On the surfaces of those ancient stones, Lolth and Patricia observed almost invisible ancient magic runes, yet even they could not determine the original purpose of these platforms.
They could only speculate that perhaps these were used to guard the main building or to connect various places like a teleportation circle.
However, even the magical energy had nearly vanished completely.
These altars seemed to have been abandoned for far more than ten thousand years—long before the God of Light decided to destroy this evil Divine Kingdom, they had already existed for ages and had been forsaken for eons.
“How ancient it is…”
Dorothy couldn’t help but exclaim.
Tina also nodded slightly.
Even though these two didn’t recognize the architectural style here like Patricia and Lolth did, they still felt a profound sense of ancient history washing over them.
The small boat continued to glide over the calm waters. Here, although the Power of the Evil God felt stronger, there were few corpses and bubbles remaining.
Combined with the ancient round platforms that appeared around them, it felt as though they were traveling through the river of time.
Finally, the magic crystal boat gently arrived at the steps before the grand building. Stepping onto the smooth stone steps, the four of them disembarked from the boat, once again feeling solid ground beneath their feet as they gazed up at the majestic building nearby.
Just as they had seen from afar, although the steps were not overly tall, the front of the main building appeared to have been built for giants.
The ten enormous gray-blue stone columns seemed to support the dome of the building to the very top of this space. The columns bore no decorative patterns, only six indentations circling around them. Through the water, they could see that the columns supporting the steps and this building underwater appeared identical to those at the entrance.
Behind the stone pillars stood a thick wall with three huge stone doors, each one reaching up to the ceiling.
The wall and stone doors had no decorations whatsoever, their style remarkably simple and angular, yet they appeared imposing due to their immense size in this space.
Just as Lolth had said, this place resembled a temple for priests.
Considering its location within the Divine Kingdom, this assumption about its purpose seemed reasonable.
Two of the three stone doors were sealed tight, with only the middle one standing half-open.
The four of them ascended the steps and could see inside the building through the half-open stone door.
Within, it was dark and vast, like a natural underground cave, with no divisions or rooms—all three great doors led to the same space.
Inside, there stood two rows of giant columns, similar to those before the doors, supporting the ceiling, and the floor was covered with square stone tiles.
Deeper inside, darkness obscured their view, but all four of them could sense…
There, there emanated a huge wave of magical energy.
The magical energy that Lolth and Patricia had detected before originated from there!
“Should we enter… Lady ‘Kululu’?”
Upon reaching the front gate, Patricia, who had grown somewhat restless, paused and looked earnestly at Lolth, seeking the succubus’s opinion.
However, she still pronounced the name Kululu with a subtle emphasis, hinting at playfulness.
Lolth dismissed her tone and peered inside, shrugging her shoulders.
“We’ve come this far… do we really have a choice?”
After speaking, she snapped her fingers, and three bright white flames materialized beside her, providing illumination.
“Let’s proceed, whether it’s an evil god or something else… we must investigate.”
Lolth spoke these words and stepped first through the giant stone door, entering the nameless hall.
Patricia smiled and followed closely behind with Dorothy and Tina.
Once inside, the group noticed that the Power of the Evil God had suddenly diminished considerably.
Instead, another strong, unknown force surged through the space.
The hall, illuminated by bright white light, revealed scenes that challenged the four’s imagination.
Outside the two rows of stone pillars, several bodies of “human women” lay scattered across the tiled floor.
They belonged neither to the cultists nor to the Land of Light; their presence was even more ancient, as if they had perished tens of thousands of years ago.
Yet even after tens of thousands of years, the terrifying aura surrounding them still testified to their once-mighty strength.
This was the source of the unknown power fluctuation here.
A group of ancient Superoperators’ remaining power waves.
They knelt or sat on the ground, some leaning against the wall or stone pillars, their skin and hair turned gray, and their eyes firmly closed, as if they had encountered some manner of “curse.”
But what kind of curse could fell these legendary beings in an instant without any resistance?
Moreover, judging by their faces and attire, these beings appeared similar to ordinary people of the present day, though their style of dress was lighter and more revealing.
Wearing only tops that covered essential areas and very short skirts, each one resembled a beautiful woman in her prime.
“Something terrible clearly occurred here…”
Lolth sighed as she spoke.
Patricia also observed the moment frozen in their lives and felt a chill, nodding and saying, “We should proceed with greater caution.”
Tina and Dorothy, in such a somber atmosphere, could hardly speak anymore.
The four did not linger long and continued walking, passing by more and more such corpses.
The interior of this hall proved wider than they had imagined.
Finally, after walking slowly for more than ten minutes, they discovered something different.
A new staircase materialized before them.
