Chapter 179: You, This Succubus, Also Have a Holy Light Divine Spell, Right?
Patricia didn’t believe Lolth’s words in the slightest.
However, she also realized that the succubus before her seemed unwilling to elaborate on this topic, so she decided not to pursue it further.
“Our primary objective is to leave this half-plane. The structure of the space we arrived from is too chaotic, so it’s unlikely we can return through the same path…”
As Patricia spoke these words, Lolth nodded in agreement.
“The God of Light must have used the Light Artifact to ‘breach’ the Divine Kingdom and defeat the evil god. From the way this Light Artifact is directed here, it appears the evil god must have fled here after sustaining serious injuries… Although this evil god might have perished eventually, we haven’t discovered its body in this space yet,” Lolth said, gazing down at the green expanse that resembled a pool of acid. “Perhaps… we should descend and investigate.”
“But the Power of the Evil God down there is even more intense…”
Dorothy expressed her concern again, and Patricia and Lolth shook their heads simultaneously.
“We need to go where the Power of the Evil God is strongest. Only such a location might hold the possibility of a ‘turning point’.”
“Indeed, you possess the Light Artifact, so you needn’t fear corruption… Even if danger arises, I and this succubus will handle it. What causes your hesitation?”
Tina nodded as well.
“I also believe we should follow Mistress Lolth’s guidance.”
Hearing that all three had reached this decision, Dorothy could no longer object and quietly nodded.
“Then we shall proceed as you suggest.”
After making this decision, Patricia drew Dorothy close and softly began to chant a spell.
Then, she and Dorothy gradually descended toward the water below.
Observing this, Lolth extended her hand to Tina.
“Let us descend as well.”
Tina’s cheeks flushed slightly, but ultimately, she grasped Lolth’s left hand.
“I leave it to you, Lolth.”
“No need for such formality!”
As Lolth spoke these words, magic swirled around her.
Here, the suppressive effect on magic was even stronger than it had been outside the Divine Kingdom, yet Lolth still managed to guide Tina down safely.
After several seconds, both pairs landed successfully above the water, where the Power of the Evil God felt almost palpable.
Following an exchange of glances between Lolth and Patricia, Patricia gestured to herself, and Lolth nodded. Patricia resignedly reached into her sleeve and cast out a handful of magic seeds, continuing her spell.
“My faithful companion, transform into a vessel for me, that I might traverse this perilous sea.”
As the incantation concluded, magical energy flowed into the magic seed about to touch the water’s surface. After a flash of light, it materialized into a translucent crystal boat crafted from magical crystals, perfectly sized for four occupants, and it settled gently upon the green water’s surface.
Though it began to erode from the Power of the Evil God upon contact with the water, the erosion’s effect greatly diminished after Lolth and Patricia applied a protective magic circle. Moreover, the magic crystal boat could restore itself through the injection of substantial magical energy, enabling smooth navigation even in waters saturated with the Power of the Evil God.
The four of them boarded the vessel, and Lolth turned to Patricia with praise.
“I anticipated you would resort to a floating spell… As expected of the Great Sage, your family’s resources are remarkable—you even possess a raw crystal seed and have mastered such an uncommon spell as boat-creation.”
“It’s only because you, this succubus, aren’t assisting… Next time, you’ll need to contribute—incidentally, what direction should we take?”
Patricia spoke with resignation as she steadily infused the crystal boat with magic for propulsion and maintenance, and the vessel began to move.
“Ah—let me check,” Lolth closed her eyes, employing Ultimate Power to sense their surroundings, then pointed in one direction, “That way—there’s an immense wave of divine power in that direction.”
“You’re not leading us toward the evil god, are you?” Patricia continued her teasing.
“Whether it’s an evil god or not remains uncertain, but that entity is definitely deceased,” Lolth spread her hands, “Are you curious to view my master’s remains?”
Upon hearing Lolth’s words, Patricia released a gentle laugh.
The magic crystal boat continued its journey, repeatedly touching the floating skeletons in the water, producing crystalline sounds.
Tina and Dorothy, positioned to the side, maintained their vigilance rather than sharing in the relaxed atmosphere; both sat upright, carefully monitoring their surroundings.
As the crystal boat advanced, the Power of the Evil God in the water, already concentrated beyond imagination, indeed grew increasingly potent.
The Rod of Eden in Dorothy’s possession appeared to reactivate, its power surging anew. When it contacted the dark green waters, it reacted violently, causing the surface to bubble and churn like boiling water, while the staff’s radiance intensified.
“Deactivate that object!”
Lolth noticed this development and called out to Dorothy.
“How do I deactivate it?”
Dorothy asked helplessly.
“Can you manage it? Didn’t you claim proficiency with Holy Light power? Never mind, I’ll handle it,” Lolth sighed, as she manifested a strand of Holy Light and connected it to the Rod of Eden. “Hmm… allow me to examine…”
After a brief silence, the Holy Light encompassing the Rod of Eden shifted, then stabilized, its luminescence becoming more subdued.
The churning Power of the Evil God on the water gradually calmed as it lost its target.
“There!”
As Lolth announced this, her actions left Dorothy and Patricia speechless.
“Truly remarkable, Master Lolth!”
Tina, who had been observing from the side, noticed the astonished expressions of the other two and applauded, regarding them with pride.
“Master Lolth’s capabilities exceed your comprehension!”
“Capabilities? It’s merely a clever application of DEX…”
Lolth responded dismissively, waving her hand.
After Patricia heard the exchange between Tina and Lolth, she adopted a contemplative expression.
“I begin to understand how you can utilize the power of the evil god… By the way, my teacher mentioned that among the mages who were eliminated by The Church of Light and the Nature Church in the past, many were researching ‘divine spell’… We dismissed it as futile and troublesome study…”
Patricia mused, observing Lolth again with narrowed eyes.
She found this succubus increasingly intriguing!
When Lolth met the other’s scrutinizing gaze, she sensed something amiss.
“Oh dear, I forgot this is a Great Sage from a magic association… Had I known, I would have acted differently!”
The pretense that might deceive Tina and Dorothy, who clearly lacked formal education, would certainly not fool this individual!
She found the situation growing uncomfortable.
Fortunately, the strange waves that arose from beneath the water interrupted the awkward moment just in time!
