Chapter 170: Leave the Invaders to Me, the Great Lord of the Demon Race, One of the Four Heavenly Kings!
Following Dadaka’s directions, Patricia and Dorothy walked diagonally through Hillenbrand Town to the northeast corner of the village.
On the gentle slope at the northeast corner, the first thing the two noticed before encountering the altar that hid the half-plane channel was the half-destroyed torture tower.
“Wow…”
Patricia glanced at it and noticed that the many magical circles inside were almost as impressive as the Mage Tower in Cloud City.
Dorothy was also slightly shocked.
“It looks like the demon race guarding this place has some strong magical skills,” said Dorothy.
“Hmm… However, it seems there’s only one demon race inside the tower. We can carefully sneak around,” Patricia said, suppressing her magical energy. “What a pity! If not for Her Holiness’s generous reward, I’d love to explore it… But if there’s only one demon, it should be fine to take a look, right?”
Patricia showed a look of eagerness.
“I think it’s better not to do this… Even though there is only one demon race, it is still her territory, and no one knows how long it will take the other demon races to arrive here.”
Dorothy once again tried to dissuade Patricia with her common sense.
Listening to Dorothy, Patricia tilted her head and asked, “Are you sure? I can feel that… Isabella is trapped inside. Didn’t you say you would rescue her?”
“Rescue doesn’t mean rushing in recklessly; that’ll definitely alert the demons. Besides, Lady Patricia, didn’t you say earlier that Isabella might not be reliable?”
Dorothy continued to argue her point.
“Alright, alright, I was just joking; don’t be so serious—I didn’t really plan to go!”
Patricia waved her hand and said with a smile.
Dorothy glanced at the Great Sage, slightly shorter than herself, and looked at her innocent smile. She didn’t believe a single word of what she said about not really planning to go.
But it is good to make the other person give up the idea of such nonsense.
She carefully followed the boisterous Patricia around the torture tower.
“It’s alright! As long as the magic waves are blocked, the demon race won’t find us—there’s no need to be so sneaky!”
Patricia found Dorothy’s glancing around and tiptoeing to be quite amusing.
Meanwhile, at the top of the torture tower, Isabella looked at the two unfamiliar figures below and fell into deep thought.
“These two… by their outfits, they seem to be from the Wizard Association and the Golden Peacock.”
After the open pasture was moved away, this place turned into a viewing platform.
Lolth initially intended to create a rooftop garden, but recently in Hillenbrand Town, she has faced one issue after another. She now has more responsibilities than in the past eighteen years combined, leaving her little time to organize everything.
The many garden tiles and wooden fences bought while shopping for materials were piled up here and became Isabella’s workout area instead.
During her free time, she would channel her physical strength into the stone bricks while taking in the view. After relaxing her limits through manual labor with anti-magic shackles, Isabella discovered a newfound passion for this traditional, primal form of training.
At that moment, she had just finished her workout for the day and was stretching against the obsidian walls of the torture tower when she noticed two unexpected guests intruding.
This surprised Isabella very much.
Right now, Lolth was not in the torture tower, and she felt a bit uncertain.
Earlier, when she encountered Kanor in the kitchen, the young girl mentioned sensing a “massive spatial fluctuation” from the northeast. Lolth appeared to panic, quickly offering an excuse before rushing out, just before the magical tide unexpectedly arrived.
After searching the torture tower and finding that Tina was also missing, Isabella figured that there was some “accident” that needed Lolth’s attention, so she took it upon herself to inform Maider and Old Harper, the town mayor who hadn’t been active for a long time, to reassure the residents of Hillenbrand Town. She then confirmed that there were no abnormalities around the town and continued to stay at the torture tower, making it easier for Maider and the townspeople to find her in case something truly unexpected happened.
As a “Holy Alliance captive who had a good personal friendship with Lolth,” Isabella felt that she had done her best, as it was also for the good of the residents of Hillenbrand Town.
But she didn’t expect that at this juncture, the Holy Alliance would send someone to infiltrate!
This put Isabella in a bit of a dilemma.
If Lolth were here, she would naturally notice such things, and then the succubus’s actions would be none of her concern.
But now Lolth is not here… Letting Isabella personally deal with those Holy Alliance people makes her feel a bit uneasy.
It’s like a person who has decided to lose weight; she feels guilty eating fried chicken by herself, but if someone invites her to go eat barbecue, she might happily agree.
Isabella just can’t seem to get past that feeling inside her, still holding on to a bit of final determination.
But if she allows these guys to continue causing trouble and ruin the paradise-like Hillenbrand Town that Lolth created, Isabella feels that she also cannot accept that.
Especially since the last time the Holy Alliance sent people, they were using her, filled with distrust… Besides, she has always held some resentment due to the faction divisions and power struggles in the Holy Alliance. If they’re not from Ryman, Isabella feels a bit of anger and bad feelings inside her.
She wavers, unsure if she should try to stop them.
However, soon she wouldn’t need to hesitate or struggle anymore.
She heard a huge Golem Puppet walking with a “crunch, crunch” sound.
After that, the Golem Puppet took out a scroll from its storage box, where elegant words in the common language of the continent were written in a beautiful and flowing style.
“Your Excellency Isabella, don’t worry, I will handle these two guys!”
The signature read, “The Invincible Demon Race’s Four Heavenly Kings – ‘Detention Department King’ Master Kululu.”
Isabella looked at the banner and frowned at the Golem Puppet.
“Don’t get too carried away, Demon Race… I only have a little connection with Lolthlinda—I’m just letting these people off because of her!”
Although she said this, she felt a sigh of relief in her heart.
