Chapter 161: A Desperate Situation and a Glimmer of Hope
Although these creatures looked terrifying, after calming down, Tina realized that most of them were only at the first elite level or middle level. Even though they were humanoid monsters, they were not very different from the slightly stronger mice and ravens outside!
Moreover, even though her magic was much weaker, it seemed that these monsters had little to no defense and showed no intention or intelligence to dodge. So, even if her combat power was greatly reduced, if these monsters were so fragile, then the problem of reduced power wasn’t too serious!
After unleashing a full round of magic attacks, most of these creatures had already lost their ability to move.
However, for Tina, the situation was still not optimistic…
“Cough, cough…”
After she finished casting her spell, a more uncomfortable feeling arose in her body, causing her to cough violently, and her headache and nausea worsened.
Her vision became slightly blurry, and she felt a warm sensation in her nose. When she wiped it, she found it was bright red blood.
“Damn… What is happening in this place?”
The distortion monsters that could still move charged forward, enduring their discomfort as they unleashed a moonlight blast to clear away the rest. Tina heard the rustling sound again.
She lifted her head and looked toward the other tall towers.
Distortion monsters of all different shapes poured out, and among them were some that held daggers or staffs, with magical energy rising to an Elite Level.
Those holding short staffs made from black bones waved them, causing the beasts outside on the wasteland, like ravens, hyenas, and mice, to make a lot of noise.
“Caw caw caw caw caw—”
“Squeak squeak squeak!”
“Aww…”
The loud sounds of the beasts mixed together, mostly hoarse and unpleasant, but this finally made Tina understand why those creatures held no hostility toward her.
Because they were “tamed” and would follow orders to attack.
No matter how many distortion monsters each tower has, the number of them she has already disturbed is far beyond what she can handle, so Tina realizes she cannot continue fighting.
Moreover, each time she uses a bit of magic, it adds to the unusual condition of her body!
“I can’t fight… I have to keep running!”
Tina made a wise decision.
But then, she realized that she seemed to have no way to retreat.
Countless beasts were rushing toward her across the wasteland, and the presence of ravens had even sealed the air.
Going back is definitely not a wise choice.
And the towers in every direction hide even more humanoid monsters…
In this half-plane, it seems there is nowhere safe!
“I can only take a gamble now.”
Tina gritted her teeth and thought of a possibility.
Tina cast two defensive spells and one speed spell on herself, then ran toward the center of the city.
Since two strong presences were silent, it was reasonable to think that these seemingly simple-minded creatures would not dare to enter there!
All she had to do was gamble that even though the presence there was terrifying, it was absolutely safe.
In fact, places where powerful beings sleep are often very safe and stable.
Even if someone tries to wake them up on purpose, they might not succeed.
Because to those beings, an ordinary Superoperator is simply too weak.
Only someone who steps into the realm of legends would qualify to enter their sight.
However, this also carries some risks.
Because some powerful ancient beings, even when asleep, can affect their surroundings due to their immense power.
What Tina is betting on is that the influence of those two beings is harmless to her.
Furthermore, if there really is a way to return to the main plane hidden in this city, the powerful place at the center is the most likely spot.
She stopped holding back her breath and moved forward without stopping, running past tower after tower and awakening more and more distortion monsters.
The presence of these monsters grew stronger, and their equipment became more complete, until ultimately, some even showed the presence of Elite Level monsters.
However, none of them reached the extraordinary level, as if an invisible limit had been placed on them.
But escaping, Tina had no time to think so much; countless distortion monsters were already following her, a mix of human and beast forms, as ravens weaved between the towers, their green eyes blending into the sea.
Although they could not catch up to Tina’s full-speed escape, if she stopped now, she would surely be torn apart by them!
Even if her Epic High-Level strength had no discounts, being charged at by hundreds of almost a thousand Elite Level monsters at this distance still had a small chance of failure.
Moreover, right now she could not unleash her full power!
But Tina showed no sign of stopping. Even as her body grew heavier and her discomfort increased, she did not pause for a moment.
In fact, it turned out that her guess was correct.
As she got closer to the center area, the number of distortion monsters, which had initially increased, suddenly began to decline.
The number of towers that were mostly destroyed or completely collapsed grew larger, and there were only a few monsters appearing among the ruins.
In fact, Tina began to sense that this annoying magical power was starting to diminish.
Instead, peaceful and warm magic began to mix in, which gradually slowed down the deterioration of her body.
Climbing over broken walls, bricks, and stones, and stepping on the dark blue stones, Tina was almost at the very center area.
At the same time, the ground started to sink down. Even though most of the ground was covered by the fallen tower’s remains, cracks could still be seen in circles on the ground.
In the center of the city, there was indeed a pit that looked like it had been smashed down, about ten meters deep, with steep slopes formed by the cracked and sunken ground all around!
Tina could even see that in the center, there seemed to be something softly glowing and a few “frozen” human shapes.
The footsteps of the monstrous creature behind her also slowed, as if it were afraid of something.
“I guessed right…”
Just when Tina let out a long breath, she suddenly realized… she could not move forward anymore.
Right in front of her, at the edge of the pit, the concentration of magic suddenly rose to a terrifying level. Moreover, the magic within seemed to have a strong rejection quality, forming a realm with a built-in Magic Shield!
