Chapter 159: Tina’s Strange Adventure
As a unique spellcaster known as a priest, a title exclusively held by the elf royal family, Tina Leinster Newmoon cannot be classified as a wizard.
Though her spells are categorized under Star Spirit magic and nature magic, the casting method of elf priests resembles that of a priest’s divine magic.
However, they do not engage in the worship of any deities; rather, they serve three entities known as “Nature Spirits. ”
These entities are the “Spirit of Rebirth,” the “Spirit of Stars and Moon,” and the “Spirit of Gems. ”
These existences are similar to the gods, yet somewhat different.
As the princess of the Moon Elf tribe, Tina had always revered the “Spirit of Stars and Moon” above all else.
Now, in this half-plane, Tina found herself astonished by the significant weakening of her bond with the Spirit of Stars and Moon.
This was nearly inconceivable; even in a half-plane or alternate realm, she would typically feel a connection, but it should never be this “weak. ”
In specific half-planes at certain times, a priest’s spells could prove to be more effective than in the main plane.
Tina was baffled by the occurrence of this seemingly weak condition.
Currently, however, most of her priest spells were only half as potent, and her power might only ascend to the level of a Superlative Level Middle Level.
Of course, many of her basic skills were still intact; along with her magic power and mental strength, she still had the ability to fight against Superlative Level opponents.
However, Tina was very aware…
The threat present in this half-plane is clearly beyond the capabilities of a Superlative Level.
This location resembles a neglected remnant of an ancient civilization amidst a desolate landscape. The lifeless tree branches shelter Raven, characterized by vibrant green eyes and a palpable aura of potent magic. The overcast sky is a dark gray, illuminated by a blood-red glow, while the ground appears to be stained with blood, now dried to a deep red hue.
A long, winding road made of black gravel stretches towards the end of the wasteland, where a crumbling, eerie city seems to stand.
On either side of the gravel road, there are half-decayed gigantic bones everywhere. The skin, fur, and meat have mostly disappeared, leaving only piles of black and white bones, which seem to belong to enormous beasts and humanoid creatures. Scattered around are some weapons and equipment that still hold a trace of magical energy.
The bones are clearly divided into two colors, making it easy to see that they belong to different groups.
The black skeletal beasts are mostly small, with fierce faces, sharp teeth, and claws. The humanoid skeletons often have oddly bent joints, long limbs, and ribs that stick out. The scattered weapons and armor around them include skeleton staffs, bone hammers, and snake daggers; the weapons they carry are mostly spears and long swords. The white bones have few beasts, only a few giant spinal bones buried in the ground that look like small hills, and their weapons are the same as those found among the black bones, but there are few signs of battle, and most of the white armor nearby is quite intact.
With the two types of bones piled together, Tina has no difficulty deducing what once happened here.
It feels like a grand expedition and conquest, where the white bones represent a powerful force that almost completely slaughtered the black bones… but at some point, the members of the white bones suddenly all died together.
The magic in this place exudes a sense of decay that Tina finds extremely repulsive, as if it is tainting and eroding everything alive, draining their life energy while continuously trying to assimilate the magic within Tina’s own body.
Even though Tina’s Epic High Level status isn’t affected, she still feels her magic is hard to protect from this influence.
Sometimes, she would suddenly feel a wave of nausea, almost to the point of vomiting.
After casting a few protective spells on herself, she started to feel a bit better.
However, the magic of those spells was consuming energy faster than usual.
If she stayed here much longer, she would become even weaker!
Moreover, each of those official ranked Raven was often glancing at her with their green, shining eyes.
Among the white bones, some creatures that looked like hyenas or giant rats, also with glowing green eyes, were wandering around leisurely, as if searching for something.
“I can’t just sit here; I have to do something…”
Tina clenched her teeth, realizing that continuing like this was not a solution.
Although these creatures seemed to be only Elite Level at most, this was their territory, and only her own strength had greatly diminished.
As time went by, it was clear that dragging this out would be harmful to herself.
Moreover, she had to report all this to Master Lolth!
Even for the sake of Master Lolth and Hillenbrand Town, she could not just wait and do nothing.
Thinking about this, Tina looked back.
There was no difference from here; it was still a desolate land with scattered black branches, some bones, and many wandering monsters.
No matter what, it seemed very clear where she should go.
That was the abandoned, crumbling city that felt terrible to her!
From afar, the city looked as if someone had smashed it from the sky; the buildings were collapsing outward in a radial pattern, with what should have been dark towers and stone bridges in the center falling towards the outskirts. The outer buildings were also cracked and damaged, but their main structures were relatively intact and even supported some of the tall buildings that had collapsed in the more central area.
In the center of that city, there were two forces intertwined together that, although silent and still, still filled Tina with immense terror.
Even though it was several kilometers away from where she was, Tina felt as if she was facing something unstoppable.
It was a power surge far beyond any legend.
However, Tina was not afraid.
Because she had no other choice.
Moreover, this terrifying presence made her even more determined.
“I must tell Mistress Lolth everything about this place… This chaotic and harmful magic, along with the dreadful aura, must not endanger Mistress Lolth’s territory!”
“If there is a way to return to the main plane, or even to send a message to the main plane, then it must be in that city!”
“To help Mistress Lolth… I have to go there and see for myself!”
