Chapter 157: No Plane Magic Tide? Then Let’s Create One!
“Today, I feel a bit off, so here’s the recipe for chiffon cake. You can practice it on your own.”
After saying this to Kanor, Lolth placed the little girl in the kitchen and left the torture tower’s kitchen.
Once outside, her expression turned serious. Without hesitation, she used teleportation magic to arrive at the northern edge of the town.
Lolth had just noticed that the magical circles surrounding the northern altar had lost eighty percent of their power—something that had somehow escaped her attention until now.
If it weren’t for the sudden and unusual spatial disturbance moments ago, she might not have realized it so soon!
But what made Lolth most anxious was…
Thanks to her extensive training in space magic since childhood, she was highly attuned to spatial fluctuations. From the recent disturbance, she could discern what had occurred.
Something—or someone—had been forcibly teleported.
Judging by the abrupt disappearance of the aura, it seemed that Tina was the one who had been transported!
Although Tina’s personality was unpredictable and eccentric, Lolth had long considered her part of the Interrogation Department—and a friend.
Because of this, Lolth had momentarily lost her composure. She had even made up an excuse to cover her reaction in front of Kanor.
When she reached the altar’s edge, Lolth examined the remnants of magic essence and confirmed that Tina had indeed been transported. Her fists clenched tightly.
“Half-plane channel… Damn it. I wasn’t thorough enough in my checks,” she muttered.
The usually calm and composed succubus now showed rare traces of anxiety.
The half-plane channel had closed again after Tina’s transportation, as though it had run out of magical energy.
Lolth understood that the channel’s opening was tied to her rushed setup of the Space Magic Array. Yet, since it had opened by chance, she wasn’t confident she could replicate the feat.
Carefully analyzing the spatial structure, Lolth concluded that the only way to fully reopen the channel was to wait for the Plane Magic Tide to peak.
However, she didn’t know which half-plane was connected. Without coordinates, teleporting blindly into that plane would be a gamble. Even if she succeeded, she might not land near Tina.
The half-plane could be vast, chaotic, and dangerous—possibly worse than the Abyss. In such an environment, detection and space magic might prove unreliable.
But Tina couldn’t wait.
Even as a Moon Elf royal and an epic spellcaster, Tina might not escape unscathed from whatever peril awaited her there.
For Lolth, the situation was dire.
“Calm down, Lolth. Think of a solution. Haven’t you faced worse situations in the Abyss?”
Noticing her growing panic, Lolth cast a freezing spell on her head. The icy chill brought a measure of clarity.
She needed to stay calm and devise a strategy.
The priority was clear: Tina’s safety was paramount.
Lolth had to open a path to the half-plane—and fast.
Ideally, the teleportation coordinates should be as close to Tina as possible—meaning the best course of action would be to safely and steadily restart this half-plane channel.
Forcing a teleportation or initiating an unstable half-plane channel were both poor options.
To steadily restart the channel, several prerequisites needed to be met: the Plane Magic Tide had to be high, the Dimensional Barrier significantly weakened, and the main plane and the half-plane at their closest “distance.”
However, this process would take at least two to three days.
Even if it meant waiting until the magic tide began, the safest option was to hold out until at least tomorrow.
“I can’t wait…”
Lolth sighed. Suddenly, a wild thought struck her.
“What if we bring the Plane Magic Tide forward?”
The Plane Magic Tide occurs because the “distance” between the main plane and the half-plane is reduced. However, this “distance” isn’t spatial in nature.
For different planes, even if a half-plane exists just above the main plane, measuring the “distance” using coordinates is meaningless.
Lolth, an expert in spatial dynamics, knew that slight shifts in coordinates had minimal impact on the magic tide.
She had long suspected that the so-called “distance” actually referred to the intensity of magical energy exchange between the planes.
When the magic flow in the main plane synchronizes with the wave patterns or frequencies of other planes and half-planes, interdimensional magic exchange surges, weakening the Dimensional Barrier. This allows an influx of diverse magical energies into the main plane.
This phenomenon follows a natural, predictable pattern.
Currently, with the Plane Magic Tide potentially beginning tomorrow, the frequency of magic exchanges was rising rapidly.
In other words…
“This process can be accelerated,” Lolth whispered, a glimmer of determination flashing in her eyes.
“If we combine rule magic and arcane magic to resonate with the half-plane’s magic, we can speed up the tide’s arrival.”
“Even on a small scale and within a short timeframe, we could create an artificial magic tide.”
Lolth approached the altar, where the remaining magic essence—besides Tina’s—primarily consisted of energy that had seeped into the main plane through the dimensional space channel’s weak point.
As she sensed the residual essence, Lolth carefully tried to reconstruct its original form in her mind.
“Hmm… this magic has weak, devouring qualities, somewhat like ‘Ultimate Power,’ but not quite the same. It seems more effective on living beings… yet it’s unstable…”
Her brow furrowed. “Wait, why is there a trace of God of Light’s power mixed in? Does that mean these magical energies are still being ‘purified’ by the God of Light?”
“If that’s the case, I’ll need to revise the formula. Ugh, multiple variables make the calculations so much more complex!”
Lolth’s mind raced as her fingers danced in the air. Magic coalesced into glowing traces, forming intricate symbols and formulas that could make anyone’s head spin.
Finally, her calculations were complete!
