Chapter 155: Thanks to “Princess Tina Remaining Stubborn”
While Lolth began teaching Kanor baking in the kitchen to distract her, Tina, who had departed from the kitchen, did not immediately proceed to post the notice.
Curiously, she found herself wandering near the Ryman interrogation room where Isabella resided.
Tina couldn’t comprehend why she was lingering here, and this did not ease her mind, yet her feet seemed unable to leave this place.
It felt as though two versions of herself were arguing in her mind!
“You must understand… assisting Lady Lolth is the right path; that knight is merely a temporary distraction.”
“But Lolth’s owner also mentioned that she prefers Isabella’s company…”
“That was only momentary!”
“But something appears to have occurred when they went out…”
“But Lolth’s owner also entrusted Hillenbrand Town to your care!”
“But do I truly wish to be just Lolth’s ‘assistant’ and ‘trustworthy follower’?”
Tina’s thoughts were in disarray, experiencing a mixture of emotions within her heart.
It was even more perplexing than the impending magic tide.
The origin of all this turmoil could be traced to one individual!
Tina recalled what she had observed in the torture tower these past few days.
Isabella was engaging in cheerful conversation with Lolth.
Isabella was offering commentary on the dishes prepared by Lolth.
There was even Isabella sampling various types of food.
With flushed cheeks, Isabella said to Lolth, “You mischievous succubus, don’t bite where I’ve already been marked!”
Reflecting on those unavoidable images, even amid her busy planning, Tina clenched her teeth in frustration.
That rule-breaking, shameless human knight who lacks manners and respect for order!
She yearned to challenge Isabella to a duel right there and then.
Unfortunately, that would certainly trouble Lolth; Tina was convinced that Lolth would not wish to witness her and Isabella fighting… it would be quite problematic for her.
“Isabella, Isabella… Ah!”
The pent-up frustration finally caused Tina to cry out wildly.
After her outburst, the door to the room opened.
Isabella, clad in a black T-shirt, peered out.
“Why are you calling for me?”
Tina was startled. Realizing she couldn’t cause problems for Lolth by quarreling with Isabella, she concealed her agitated expression.
However, the atmosphere felt somewhat awkward.
“Um… it’s nothing, just passing through… was I truly that loud?”
Tina attempted to awkwardly diffuse the situation.
“No, but you were standing outside my door for five or six minutes. I was about to open it,” Isabella replied, feeling slightly uncomfortable herself, adjusting her icy blue hair. “So… do you need something from me?”
Since discovering that Lolth was a benevolent demon race, after spending several days with her, she had begun to understand.
That succubus rarely employed her succubus-related abilities and skills.
In essence, she not only avoided manipulating people’s hearts but remained largely genuine most of the time.
This elf had never betrayed herself.
Most information about Dragonspine Mountain was likely analyzed by Lolth personally, though for some reason, that succubus always insisted her analysis was mere conjecture.
Isabella’s perception of Tina Leinster Newmoon had also shifted.
This elf was no traitor; she had neither betrayed herself nor performed any acts to “betray” her race.
Instead, her remarkable contributions to Hillenbrand Town’s development during this period could not be dismissed.
From the residents’ reverence for her, Isabella began to comprehend that this elf could not be labeled as “fallen.”
Certainly, that being said… Lolth was not malevolent; even if she desired to fall, she couldn’t.
Regardless, Isabella could no longer harbor hostility toward this fairy.
It was simply that their previous misunderstandings still lingered, making their interactions uncomfortable.
Indeed, Isabella realized this fairy remained unaware that “Lolth is benevolent and did not lead her astray,” which explained why she continued addressing Lolth as “Mistress Lolth” daily and insisted she had “fallen,” appearing so dejected.
However, this was understandable… She had only begun to grasp this truth after confronting the cultists in Palgauro City alongside Lolth.
Isabella even felt sympathy for Tina and wished to help resolve her misunderstandings and emotional conflicts.
Noticing Isabella’s friendly yet sympathetic demeanor, Tina was momentarily taken aback, then grew increasingly angry.
“Is this condescension from someone who believes they hold a superior position?”
“Does this knight truly believe she has completely captured Master Lolth’s heart?”
“It’s merely a temporary amusement, don’t become too presumptuous!”
Tina was consumed by anger and jealousy, unable to maintain composure.
“You, knight, have shown disrespect to Master Lolth recently! You must understand your position!”
Hearing Tina’s angry words, Isabella couldn’t feel upset; she simply shook her head and attempted to reason with her.
“You are mistaken. What Lolthlinda seeks to create is not a relationship of servant and master or superior and subordinate; she desires one of equality and mutual respect.”
As Isabella spoke these words, Tina recalled what Lolth had asked her to call her earlier.
But Tina shook her head and swiftly dismissed the thought.
This must be the knight’s arrogant and clever rhetoric.
“What do you know? Master Lolth is noble and supreme. Will you also slander her by claiming she is approachable, kind, and gentle?”
“Of course… wait, how can those be considered slander? The words you spoke are praise,” Isabella was also confused by Tina’s statement, and after a moment, she regained her composure. “Consider it yourself, elf… her policies toward the common people and her construction projects, don’t they serve a purpose?”
“Certainly! We simply cannot comprehend Master Lolth’s thoughts!”
Tina persisted.
Hearing this, Isabella sighed, “Very well, I acknowledge she is the most intelligent person of any race I have encountered, but she is not truly evil… and she has no intention of making you ‘fall’ or causing anyone to ‘fall’…”
“Enough, you need not continue. I see clearly now; you are merely a toy who understands nothing—continue your wishful thinking here. I must attend to Master Lolth’s work.”
Tina abruptly cut off Isabella and turned to leave.
Isabella watched Tina’s retreating figure, softly sighing.
This phase Tina was experiencing… she knew it all too well.
