Chapter 151: The Tide Is Coming
Near the New Western Line of the Holy Alliance, within the Republic of Seychelles, members of the Oracles Knight Order had been searching for the elusive Ditch Village for days.
Accompanied by missionaries from across Seychelles, their efforts had yielded nothing. Doubts began to grow among the group, questioning whether the village even existed.
Only Janine Irene held firm in her belief.
“That girl’s soul is recognized by the Holy Light as pure and sacred; how could she deceive me?”
Had she not been stationed at the New Western Line to welcome Her Holiness, she would have gone searching herself.
Today, at last, the Lady of Light arrived at the New Western Line. She was escorted by a small contingent of elite Oracles Knights, having journeyed from the Holy Capital of Eden Palace.
“Your Holiness, I am so glad you are safe… I knew I should have personally escorted you.”
Janine Irene’s relief was palpable as she entered the newly constructed tent. Seeing the saintess—calm and unwearied—soothed her concerns.
“I had the Great Sage escort me personally. You don’t need to worry so much, Irene,” the saintess replied gently, her serene voice matching her flawless, composed expression.
Inside the tent, Janine Irene noticed two others clad in the robes of the Church of Light. Upon closer inspection, however, they didn’t appear to be priests.
One was a pale girl with light purple hair, her complexion so pallid it seemed she was unwell. The other was a lively, childlike figure with sleeves rolled up, exposing delicate arms as she waved cheerfully.
“Hello, Lady Irene! My name is Patricia, but you can call me Cui Cui!”
Janine Irene blinked, momentarily startled, then responded respectfully.
“Hello, ‘Morning Star’ Sage Patricia. Thank you for escorting Her Holiness.” Turning to the side, she asked, “And who might this be?”
“Dorothy Diana, from the Golden Peacock Kingdom,” the pale girl replied humbly.
“So you’re the princess of the Golden Peacock.” Janine nodded, then turned to the saintess. “Is everyone accounted for, Your Holiness?”
“Yes,” the Lady of Light confirmed softly. “The plan can begin. We just need to wait for the right time… then everything can proceed.”
“The right time?” Dorothy asked, curiosity lighting her face.
Patricia chimed in, her innocent expression masking deep knowledge. “The best time to open interplanar links is during a Plane Magic Tide’s peak. Summoners, Elemental Mages, and Shadow Dancers use similar principles in their arts. Different magic tides weaken different Dimensional Barriers. Aside from alternate planes like divine realms, there are ancient spaces—Mage Towers or half-planes—that ordinary people occasionally enter.”
“So, that place truly is a half-plane…” Dorothy murmured.
The saintess nodded, her gentle smile unwavering. “According to our predictions and the Pope’s prophecy, the next Plane Magic Tide in Vera Plain will peak in over fifty years. That will be the ideal time to open the passage.”
She outlined the plan:
“Janine Irene and I will lead the Oracles Knight Order at the New Western Line. Together, we will use mystical techniques to engage the four Demon Legions stationed in Vera Plain. While we hold them off, you two will sneak into Hillenbrand Town and proceed with your task.”
Although intelligence indicated that the Demon Army valued Hillenbrand Town, the saintess was confident in Patricia’s abilities.
“It’s a simple yet effective strategy,” Patricia said with a grin. “The saintess and Irene can handle the demons, and I’ll manage the half-plane passage. Dorothy, you just need to point me in the right direction.”
Dorothy nodded. “My ancestor left notes detailing the method, but she required the assistance of a legendary sage mage. I’ll explain it as best I can when the time comes.”
Patricia waved her hand dismissively. “Don’t worry. That sage mage was the grandmaster of my master. If he could do it, so can I—I surpass my predecessors, after all.”
The saintess interjected, her tone serious. “While the demons are cunning, you can rely on the support of Seychelles and Ryman’s new western front guards. They will ensure your escape route remains open.”
Dorothy expressed her gratitude, and Patricia added nonchalantly, “If the situation turns dire, and the Demon King herself shows up, I’ll just use spatial magic to escape. No problem!”
The four reached a consensus, their resolve set.
Meanwhile, in Hillenbrand Town, Lolth was finalizing a report on the Church of Light’s movements along the western front. Just as she prepared to use spatial magic to send the letter to Demon King Castle, she paused.
Something felt off.
“Ah… the spatial fluctuations and magic concentration feel strange.”
Her sharp senses detected an irregularity in the flow of magic.
“It feels like the tide of the sea rising… the magic flow is messy, almost as if it’s one-tenth of the Abyss.”
