Chapter 15: Are These Proper Vegetables?

Inside the torture tower, after assigning the challenging tasks of feeding animals and cleaning the pastures to Tina, Lolth went to the greenhouse farm on the lower floor to water and manage pests on the fruits and vegetables.

Although some unique animals and plants were grown in various interrogation rooms, the main large-scale farming was concentrated in the upper levels of greenhouses, farms, and pastures.

While it was not as large as a real farm, the yield was sufficient for Lolth to eat until the end of the war.

Originally, she had planned to open a second cafeteria in the Demon Army to earn some extra money. Who would have thought that the entire Demon Army actually loved the food from the cafeteria, which normal humans couldn’t stomach? This frustrated Lolth immensely.

Most of the harvested ingredients could only be stored for now. Fortunately, there was now an extra mouth to feed, which could help Lolth consume the overly abundant ingredients.

As for asking Tina to help manage the farm, Lolth didn’t have high expectations of her.

When building these farms, Lolth employed many mechanical and magical constructs for long-term convenience, making it almost semi-automated for cultivation.

Even though she watered the plants and managed pests herself, it was merely a personal hobby for her.

If she got really busy, she could simply activate a magic circle to eliminate all the pests, and the timing for watering could be easily automated.

However, Lolth truly enjoyed the process of watering cabbages, potato seedlings, eggplants, and tomato plants in the greenhouse with a watering can.

These vegetables, extremely familiar to her from her previous life, didn’t exist in this Otherworld.

The deep abyss was a place where tasty crops couldn’t grow naturally. After the Demon Army entered the main plane, Lolth discovered that this magical world was very backward in agriculture.

The land was rich in resources, but the crops were different from those on Earth. A few crops and vegetables were similar, but most were unique.

The familiar plants in this “research greenhouse” were the results of Lolth’s years of selecting and nurturing within the Demon Army, even using magic and potions to accelerate their growth.

Through self-taught nature spells and Otherworld botany, Lolth had almost become a half-great druid, capable of teaching nature spells and potion-making at the Wizard Association’s Cloud Tower!

While Otherworld cuisine was good, Lolth sometimes missed the taste of her homeland.

Today at noon, she planned to let Tina, the Elf Princess, taste the cuisine of her homeland.

This was to reward Tina’s hard work and show her that the Demon King’s Castle was a place where labor could create value and earn rewards!

At least in the torture tower, this was the case!

It was crucial to make the Elf Princess gradually abandon her strange ideas.

Lolth thought about it as she watered the plants, then picked three fresh and green cucumbers, two shiny purple eggplants, and a ripe, plump-long pumpkin.

“I’ll make a flavored eggplant dish, slice some garlicky cucumbers, and finish with pumpkin porridge… Hmm, all vegetarian. It should suit the Elf Princess’s eating habits perfectly, with a touch of exotic flair!”

She placed the vegetables into her harvesting basket and, checking the time, realized that the morning was almost over.

By her estimation, Tina’s cleaning work on the ranch should also be nearly completed.

After all, the ranch’s grass patches had already been cleaned by small magical puppets at night, so they wouldn’t be too dirty or messy.

Carrying the basket, Lolth once again arrived at the rooftop grazing ranch for livestock.

What she saw was Tina holding a long wooden clamp in one hand and a huge hemp sack in the other, attentively picking up dung, shed fur, fallen branches, and dry grass into the sack.

Her once straight back was now slightly bent, sweat beads glistened on her pale face, and her light silver hair was slightly disheveled. Her sleeves and pant legs were rolled up, revealing slender arms and legs.

“It looks like the labor transformation process is very successful!”

Lolth nodded in satisfaction, feeling a strange sense of pleasure in her heart.

“Miss Tina,” she called out to Tina, “you have done a great job cleaning. It’s already noon, you can take a break now.”

Hearing Lolth’s voice from the entrance, Tina straightened up and stood.

Seeing the lazy Lolth carrying a basket, Tina nodded as she tied up her bag and said, “Okay, Master Lolth.”

Tina’s feelings were mixed at the moment.

Hearing Lolth’s praise made her somewhat happy, but it also worried her to have her “soul” praised by a succubus.

“What’s that?”

Tina suppressed her fear and asked.

“These are vegetables I’ve carefully cultivated myself. They’re extraordinary,” Lolth said proudly. “I’ll prepare them for you this noon… You’ll experience something like never before!”

Tina listened to Lolth’s words, carefully observing the vegetables.

Dark green cylindrical shapes with slightly raised spikes on the surface!

Dark purple cylindrical shapes, smooth but with a very large head!

Grey-green cylindrical shapes, extremely huge!

They looked sinister in both shape and color, especially considering they were nurtured by a succubus.

In Tina’s opinion, their purpose was already clear as day!

After showing the vegetables to Tina, Lolth glanced at the stunned elf once more, then turned and left without much thought.

But shortly after she left, a deafening, high-pitched cry erupted from behind, causing all the animals in the ranch to riot, echoing throughout the Demon King Castle.

“No – they will die!”

Many Demon Army officers in the Demon King Castle turned their gaze toward the prison tower.

“It’s the elves’ screams…”

“The interrogator’s methods are indeed terrifying!”

“I heard they have extracted intelligence… Is this just pure torture for amusement?”

“Indeed, that succubus is not simple!”
