Chapter 12: Miss Interrogator Is Quite Mysterious
While Lolth made her way back to the Interrogation Department, Shelldor, much faster than her, had already reached the Demon Tower.
Pushing open the massive, heavy wooden door at the end of the corridor, Shelldor proceeded directly to the tenth floor of the Demon Tower. This was the location of the Abyssal Hall, where the Demon King often convened with her most trusted subordinates.
Although it was called the “Demon Tower,” it was named so only because of its incredible height, reaching a staggering kilometer into the sky.
Its towering structure resembled a lofty spire but in truth…
The area of a single floor in the Demon Tower far surpassed that of any palace hall belonging to any race on the main plane!
Moreover, as it was divided into only thirteen floors, each floor boasted a terrifyingly vast vertical space.
Stepping through the wooden doors into the tenth floor of the Demon Tower felt like entering an expansive void, where the ceiling was almost impossible to discern.
Encircling the circular base of the Abyssal Hall on this level were numerous wooden doors, all firmly shut at present.
The floor was draped in a blood-red carpet, while illumination came from nine enormous candelabras hanging upside down from the lofty ceiling, each ablaze with over ten thick candles that emitted a cold, white flame.
The pale light cast its glow on the walls, revealing oil painting-like portraits that depicted various demon races of the abyss, showcasing their most formidable members.
Muscular trolls, fierce Barbarian Demons, fire-wielding Balrogs, elusive shadow demons, and the dread-inspiring demon dragons that blackened the skies…
Sixty-six portraits in total, each one radiating ferocity, cruelty, and terror.
The only exception was the portrait of a succubus, drawn in vivid, bright colors, standing out from the others. It showcased a voluptuous figure clad in almost nothing, with a pink lewd mark on her belly and twisted Charm runes etched into her face, painted in a style resembling anime illustrations.
However, regardless of the artistic style, all the portraits guard one direction.
The walls there are not painted with any pictures.
But there sat a tall throne, made of expensive deep abyss black crystals, with a black, semi-transparent texture that matched its huge size reaching the domed ceiling. Even though the style of the throne was plain with no extra decorations, it still exuded endless dignity.
Shelldor knelt in front of the empty throne, like a sugar bean falling in front of a three-tiered cake at a party.
“Demon King.”
She spoke respectfully in a low voice, her words echoing throughout the entire Abyssal Hall.
When she looked up again, a dark blue-black suit of armor had appeared on the throne!
It appeared silently, without any spatial or magical fluctuations!
The armor was airtight, outlining a sturdy, giant figure with a matte metal texture, with no gaps between the large pieces of armor.
On the helmet of the armor, there were even two huge horn-like decorations.
“Shelldor, you have arrived.”
A deep and colossal voice sounded, like the voices of tens of thousands of people mixed, indiscernible in tone.
This was the master of the Demon King Castle and the Demon Army, the current Abyssal Demon King!
Even the most rebellious Abyssal Sovereign, like Shelldor, showed great respect in front of it!
She lifted her head, still kneeling on one knee.
“Demon King, may I ask why you have summoned me back from the front line?”
The huge armor in front did not respond.
Instead, a surreal image appeared in front of Shelldor.
It showed two towering mountain ranges and a long high wall connecting the tails of the two mountains.
Shelldor paused for a moment, then quickly understood.
“Are you talking about the Western Front?”
“Yes, Shelldor, I am appointing you as the commander of the new Demon Army’s Third, Seventh, and Ninth Legions. Take your Second Legion and head to the Western Front,” the terrifying and deep voice continued. “Ten days from now, destroy the high walls of the Western Front and conquer all the resistors!”
“Yes, Demon King!”
Without hesitation, Shelldor agreed, her voice showing no emotion.
Then, she couldn’t help but mutter, “Miss Interrogator guessed right!”
Although she subconsciously lowered her voice, in the Abyssal Hall with only her and the Demon King present, lowering her voice was meaningless.
“Hmm? Lolth?”
The Demon King’s voice sounded again, with a hint of doubt.
“Ah, yes, I met Interrogator Miss Lolth on my way here. She told me you might be appointing me to the Western Front,” Shelldor said directly. “Oh, by the way, Demon King, she also asked me to deliver a piece of information obtained from interrogating the Elf Princess…”
Speaking, Shelldor took out the parchment paper and presented it respectfully with both hands.
“As the new leader of the Western Front, you don’t need to show it to me, just make good use of this information yourself.”
Hearing the Demon King’s words, Shelldor smoothly put it away.
She folded the parchment paper stack and squeezed it into the limited space of her breastplate.
Seeing Shelldor’s action, the Demon King seemed to recall something and deliberately added one sentence.
“Remember to read it.”
Shelldor scratched her head and said somewhat nervously, “I will read it, Demon King, don’t worry!”
As a member of the Demon Army, she indeed, like the other leaders, did not have the habit of “using information effectively.”
But she did belong to the more cautious faction!
Especially since the demon king reminded Shelldor, she also decided to try and take a look then.
And…
Shelldor also noticed that this interrogator seemed a bit magical.
Previously, she had always felt that this reclusive and somewhat peculiar person was very mysterious, like a prophet that only humans and elves would have in legends.
Just now, she revealed the Demon King’s true intentions!
The information she provided might have a great impact.
The most important thing is that, as an Abyssal Red Dragon, Shelldor strongly believes in the principle of “survival of the fittest.”
Although the interrogator occupies a peripheral position, Lolth’s power seems to be at the “Elite Level.”
But as a legendary Abyssal Sovereign, Shelldor could sense an even more terrifying aura emanating from her!
She wasn’t going to lose herself—she might even be stronger!
With such strength, even though the Demon King appointed her as the interrogator, Shelldor could only think of one possibility:
That is, the opponent’s ability might be similar to that of a human Pope, where she couldn’t fully utilize her strengths in direct combat.
Considering her race is a succubus, it makes perfect sense!
A legendary succubus of a different level would surely make that Elf Princess even reveal her mother’s favorite underwear color!
