Chapter 114: Have You Been With That Knight?
After Shelldor, completely drunk, dragged Lolth out of the tavern, the dragon wings of the Red Dragon Grand Monarch spread wide, lifting them both into the night sky.
The celebration had lasted all afternoon, and now Palgauro City was cloaked in darkness. Despite her drunken state, with Lolth in one arm and a massive barrel of wine in the other, Shelldor flew smoothly, her flight steady and unwavering.
Before long, Shelldor landed on the highest point in Palgauro City: the top of the Palgauro clock tower.
Though not as ancient or esteemed as the Lauren Institute, the Palgauro clock tower still bore a dignified history. Its sections were adorned with wave-patterned designs, their simplicity and elegance remaining intact after more than a century.
At the tower’s summit sat a massive magical clock, its core crafted from a finely wrought magic stone. Though the stone had lost much of its power, the remaining magic was enough to keep the clock ticking for nearly another century.
Atop this enchanted clock lay a flat roof, forming an open platform. When Shelldor brought Lolth to this place, it felt like a natural observatory.
The red-haired girl gently set Lolth and the wine barrel down beside her, taking a seat at the edge of the tower. Her legs dangled over the side, swaying gently in the night breeze.
Filling their cups with strong liquor, Shelldor handed one to Lolth.
Lolth, learning from her past experiences, sat close to Shelldor and raised her glass in unison, pretending to drink heartily while subtly discarding the alcohol elsewhere.
After several rounds, most of the liquor Shelldor had brought was gone.
The celebration gradually quieted. Sitting atop the Palgauro clock tower, the cool night breeze brushed against their faces, rustling their hair. Dark and red strands intertwined in the wind, carrying faint traces of the wine they had shared, drifting into the vast, starry sky.
Shelldor raised her gaze to the deep blue expanse above. The stars twinkled brilliantly, countless silver specks forming the Milky Way. She set her cup down and murmured softly,
“The Demon King was right… The starry sky of this continent is truly beautiful.”
Her eyes lowered to the city below.
Though it was late, Palgauro City brimmed with life. The bustling city had adapted to its new rulers, regaining its vitality. Countless lights glimmered from homes, taverns, and clubs. Pedestrians roamed the streets, embracing the vibrancy of the night.
Though not as vast or awe-inspiring as the night sky above, the scene held its own charm.
“It is very beautiful,” Lolth agreed, nodding as she gazed at the stars. “The abyss… is truly terrible compared to this.”
Shelldor’s voice softened. “It’s not all bad. The abyss has its merits: the temperature, the air, the food… though, Lolthlinda, I know you dislike abyssal food.”
Shelldor chuckled lightly. “No wonder you enjoy it here so much.”
Lolth smiled faintly. “Compared to abyssal food and demon cuisine, I do prefer the flavors of humans and other mainland races. But that’s just my personal taste.”
Shelldor turned her gaze to Lolth. Though her face was flushed from the alcohol, the cool breeze seemed to have cleared some of the haze from her slit pupils.
After a moment of silence, Shelldor asked with a surprising seriousness, “So, as a succubus, do you also prefer humans when choosing a partner?”
Lolth blinked, caught off guard. “Personal taste in partners…?”
Her confusion deepened as she realized the question’s implication. “Wait—what are you asking?”
Shelldor tilted her head, her tone light yet inquisitive. “Why are you so surprised? You and Isabella have definitely done it, haven’t you?”
The sudden directness made Lolth’s heart skip a beat.
“How… how do you know?”
Even Lolth, typically composed, stuttered under the weight of the unexpected question.
Quickly, she gathered herself.
“Stay calm, Lolth. Technically, you and Isabella didn’t cross any lines. It was all circumstantial—born of necessity,” she reminded herself, steadying her thoughts.
Clearing her throat, she replied, “No, we haven’t done anything inappropriate. She and I are merely superior and subordinate.”
Shelldor tilted her head thoughtfully, as though mulling over Lolth’s words. Then, with a knowing look, she said,
“I see… But, Lolthlinda, did you know that someone who’s been with a succubus carries a unique scent for a while?”
Lolth froze.
Shelldor continued, her tone casual yet certain. “Usually, only other succubi can sense it—to signal to others that the person is already ‘claimed.’ But as an Abyssal Demon, I’ve learned a few tricks to detect it.”
Sweat broke out on Lolth’s forehead.
She had never been taught such things. As a succubus who rarely relied on her innate abilities, her understanding of these subtleties was limited.
But based on faint, fragmented memories, Shelldor’s words seemed credible.
“Um, it—it was my domain going out of control,” Lolth stammered weakly.
To her surprise, Shelldor accepted the explanation without question.
“Ah, so your domain went haywire. Well, it happens,” Shelldor said with a carefree smile.
Raising her glass, she added, “But no matter what, I’ll always respect your preferences and choices, Lolthlinda!”
With that, Shelldor tipped her head back, downing her drink in one go.
Lolth followed suit, mimicking her actions.
But this time, she was less cautious. As she hurriedly discarded the wine, she failed to notice where it landed.
Below them, the liquor fell from the sky, splashing onto something—or someone.
Szok
[“It turns out the domain is out of control; there’s nothing we can do…” She once again showed her bright and clear smile, raising her glass.]
Bad feelings about this one. She will seduce Loth and there will be nothing they can do about it lol
