Chapter 11: Can We Slack Off During Shifts?
After leaving Tina behind in the interrogation chamber, Lolth exited the Interrogation Department of the sprawling Demon King Castle.
The “castle” of the Demon King Castle, although literally means “castle” in terms of size, could also be considered a “city” in reality.
This is both the Abyss Demon King’s palace on the main plane and the largest headquarters of the Demon Army; it is an indestructible castle-like fortress and a giant building housing nearly a million members of the demon race.
It takes over an hour to walk from the west to the east of the Demon King Castle, even if you ride a Skeleton Warhorse at full speed.
This place is more magnificent than any human city; from tens of kilometers away, you can see the obsidian high walls and towering spires of the dark and mysterious Demon King Castle, with sky bridges connecting towers.
The tallest main tower is where the current Demon King, known for “swallowing dragons whole, tearing angels with her hands, and legendary slaps,” lives and works, also referred to as the “Demon Tower.”
The Interrogation Department, a department dealing with “dirty work,” is naturally located far from the Demon Tower.
It shares a tower at the northwest corner with the Detention Department for holding prisoners of war; the Detention Department is located underground and on lower levels, while Lolth’s Interrogation Department is on the upper floors.
Of course, Lolth has transformed most of the interrogation rooms into what she calls “interrogation rooms,” which are ecological chambers. The top floors have been filled with vegetables, crops, and even livestock by Lolth, turning them into a farm.
Climbing the long, winding spiral staircase, Lolth reached the top of the detention tower and stepped onto the corridor leading to the “Demon Tower.”
The diagonally extending sky corridor, stretching for kilometers, is also made of obsidian, with thinly sliced crystals on both sides serving as glass. Through these crystal glasses, one could see the perpetually overcast sky above the Demon King Castle.
The dark gray heavy clouds rotated slowly like a vortex, with the center of the vortex facing the tip of the Demon Tower, pitch black without a hint of light, as if leading directly to the abyss or hiding countless prying eyes.
Just looking at it made one’s skin crawl, as if facing the deepest trench of the sea.
However, Lolth was quite accustomed to such scenes, as apart from the Interrogation Department she had redesigned, the entire Demon King Castle was decorated in this style.
The slope of the corridor gradually became steeper, with the appearance of junctions and steps.
As Lolth continued to move forward at a sluggish pace, a corridor intersecting from behind suddenly echoed a surprising voice.
“Miss Interrogator?”
A slightly cheerful and crisp voice sounded.
Lolth turned around, scratched her head, and saw a tall girl with long dark red hair.
She was wearing bright red scale armor that looked like something a character from a r18 video game would wear—except for the important parts, there was hardly any covering, revealing a lot of her smooth white skin.
Her toned abs and waistline were visible, though her chest was small, and her fair thighs were exposed.
Her dark red hair, resembling aged red wine, was simply tied behind her head.
“Ah, Her Excellency Shelldor,” Lolth saw this girl, who looked like she was wearing a revealing bikini, stopped in her tracks, and nodded slightly as a greeting, “Hello.”
Although this girl appeared delicate, beautiful, and dressed quite coolly, apart from her dark yellow vertical pupils, there were no visible features of an “Abyssal Demon.”
However, Lolth knew that it was just a facade.
Shelldor Via Thiea, a member of the Abyssal Red Dragon race, was one of the seven grand generals of the Demon Army. Before joining the Demon Army, she was a renowned Abyssal Sovereign with legendary combat prowess; even after transforming, she could take on multiple opponents alone.
She didn’t wear armor simply because she didn’t need extra protection.
“How rare,” Shelldor blinked after confirming Lolth’s identity, “Miss Interrogator, where are you planning to go?”
“Demon Tower, to deliver the interrogation information to the Demon King.”
Lolth, considering the guy who was already part of the core management of the Demon Army, had nothing much to hide and casually shook the parchment in her hand.
Shelldor was even more surprised, “Wow, you have an interrogation mission, and you got a live one! Unbelievable… I never thought we would capture a high-ranking member of the Holy Alliance in our lifetime!”
“We caught a Moon Elf Princess on the western front, quite useful… got lots of information out of her…”
Lolth vaguely replied, afraid of being questioned about the details of her interrogations.
But then it would be much more troublesome to fabricate everything.
“Moon Elf Princess sounds quite powerful,” Shelldor pondered for a moment, stroking her chin. “Miss Interrogator, what if she intentionally got captured to infiltrate the Demon King Castle and assassinate senior Demon Army leaders? What should we do?”
Shelldor looked very serious as she expressed her worries.
When asked this question, Lolth quickly recalled several moments she had shared with Tina.
Suddenly crying out in pain and fainting while eating pork chop rice.
Becoming overly excited and starting to talk nonsensically during a normal conversation.
Suddenly growing cheerful while eating pie, only to reveal her silly side shortly after.
“No, I don’t think she has the cunning or ability… Anyway, please rest assured, she’s wearing anti-magic shackles and is being detained well in the interrogation room.”
If she had other intentions, then this Moon Elf’s acting skills were truly exceptional, Lolth admitted inwardly.
Despite Shelldor’s concerns, Lolth suddenly thought of a good excuse to slack off and be lazy.
With only one-third of the way to the Demon Tower remaining, Lolth was already starting to miss her comfortable interrogation room.
“Your Excellency Shelldor, will you meet the Demon King?”
She looked at Shelldor and asked.
Shelldor scratched her head and replied, “Of course. The Demon King suddenly called me back from the front line of the central battlefield. I don’t know what it’s about.”
“I guess it might be about the situation in the West. Maybe the Demon King is planning a large-scale attack on the West,” Lolth casually said. Anyway, you’re right. I shouldn’t have left that Moon Elf Princess alone in the interrogation room. I should go back as soon as possible. So, can you help me deliver the information to the Demon King?”
“I would be delighted!”
Just as Shelldor began to speak the first syllable of this sentence, a parchment was handed to her.
“Thank you very much!”
By the time Shelldor heard Lolth’s words of gratitude, her figure was already dozens of meters away, retreating down the corridor.
Shelldor looked at the parchment in her hand, a look of admiration spreading across her face.
“Miss Interrogator, you are meticulous with your work!”
