    Chapter Index

When Yang Dianfeng entered the ninth floor and saw the scene within, he was instantly petrified.

In his line of sight, a middle-aged man with disheveled hair was cultivating like a madman. The surrounding spirit stones were being drained of their spiritual energy at a visible rate, and the man’s aura was climbing at a terrifying speed.

There was actually someone else cultivating here!

His gaze shifted, landing on a figure sitting cross-legged nearby. When he saw that familiar face, his heart shuddered.

“Lu… Lu Jin? It really is you!”

He tried his best to suppress his shock, but the terror in his eyes could not be hidden. The moment he saw Lu Jin, a premonition of doom welled up within him.

Lu Jin had noticed him long ago.

Compared to the urgent desire for revenge he had felt upon his initial return, he was much calmer now. When he first came back, he had wanted to kill his enemies quickly to vent his hatred. Now, facing his enemy, he was so composed that his mind began to calculate how to torture the man with the most cruelty.

    “Yang Dianfeng, are you surprised?”

Lu Jin seemed to guess the reason why Yang Dianfeng had appeared here. Of course, his guess was only half-accurate. He knew Elder Chi Yu had sent him into the Sanctuary Tower to find him, but he hadn’t expected that Yang Dianfeng only had the courage to come because of Liu Ruyan’s threats.

“Lu Jin, why are you here? Who is this person? Why is he in our sacred Sanctuary Tower?” Yang Dianfeng forced himself to steady his emotions. “Do you have any idea that this is a forbidden zone?”

His tone actually carried a hint of a threat.

Lu Jin laughed at the sound of it. Looking at Yang Dianfeng now was like looking at a mere ant. He didn’t answer Yang Dianfeng’s question, instead asking one of his own.

“Why? That bitch Liu Ruyan didn’t come with you to seek death?”

Yang Dianfeng ground his teeth. “Lu Jin! You’re too arrogant! This is the Holy Land, and you, a newcomer, think you can just kill people? You’re simply—”

    “Kneel!”

Before Yang Dianfeng could finish his sentence, Lu Jin’s shout thundered out. Simultaneously, an irresistible pressure erupted from Lu Jin’s body, instantly crushing Yang Dianfeng to the floor. His knees slammed into the ground so hard that blood splattered instantly.

    Gulp.

    Yang Dianfeng was stunned.

Pressure? Lu Jin had forced him to kneel using nothing but his aura?

In that moment, he was gripped by extreme horror, and he wanted nothing more than to flee immediately.

“Yang Dianfeng, I’ve let you live for so long. Today, it’s time to settle this debt.”

Lu Jin spoke calmly, his voice devoid of emotion, which only made Yang Dianfeng more frantic.

“Lu Jin! You wouldn’t dare! My Shifu, Elder Chi Yu, is right below us! Furthermore, a massive number of Holy Land experts have gathered outside the tower. If you dare to act recklessly here, you won’t leave this tower alive today!”

Hearing this, Lu Jin frowned. “Where do you get the courage to keep threatening me?”

As Lu Jin spoke, his spiritual force whistled out, forming a mental barrier that trapped Yang Dianfeng firmly within.

Yang Dianfeng remained on his knees. Although he mobilized all his strength to escape, he found that his legs were like roots planted in the earth; he couldn’t lift them at all. He was terrified, his fear growing the more he thought about it, but relying on the fact that there were many experts outside, he bet that Lu Jin wouldn’t dare kill him. He began to roar like a man seeking death.

“Threatening you? Lu Jin, this is the truth! If you dare touch me, my Shifu will rush here immediately and tear you into ten thousand pieces!”

Lu Jin smiled faintly. “Of course I won’t kill you.”

But as he said this, his eyes were filled with a sense of malicious schadenfreude.

“Killing you directly would be too easy on you. I plan to let you suffer a little bit of pain before you die. Only then will the hatred in my heart be eased. Of course, it would be even better if you and Liu Ruyan could watch each other being tortured.”

“To avoid disturbing the Holy Lord’s cultivation, you should shut up first.”

Lu Jin suddenly struck. A strand of spiritual energy transformed into a needle and thread, and he actually sewed Yang Dianfeng’s mouth shut.

    “Mmm! Mmm-mmm!”

Yang Dianfeng was scared out of his wits. He knelt there, unable to crawl away. With his mouth sewn shut, he couldn’t help but let out muffled cries, but he could only breathe through his nose.

“The nose won’t do either. It’s best if you don’t make a single sound.”

Lu Jin smiled and thrust a long sword directly through Yang Dianfeng’s Dantian.

Locked down by spiritual energy and Lu Jin’s terrifying pressure, Yang Dianfeng didn’t even have the courage to resist. But because he didn’t resist, he felt even more regret. Lu Jin had easily pierced his Dantian and crippled his cultivation. This was more painful than being killed outright.

He had worked so hard to reach his current level of cultivation, only to have it destroyed without even a proper battle. This was not just a humiliation; it was a soul-crushing grievance.

The intense pain caused a loud buzzing sound to come from his nose, but in the next second, his nose was sewn shut as well.

    Yang Dianfeng completely broke down.

His eyes bulged like a bull’s, filled with terror and pleading. He even began to prostrate himself, kowtowing to Lu Jin of his own accord. He believed that if he didn’t, he would soon suffocate to death.

    Swish!

However, while kowtowing, he still managed to secretly send out a transmission talisman.

    “Heh, a transmission talisman?”

Lu Jin had already spread his spiritual force across the entire tower. Yang Dianfeng’s small movement obviously couldn’t escape his notice. However, he didn’t stop it. He even glanced at the cultivating Holy Lord, Qin Jiuhuang, before grabbing Yang Dianfeng and heading toward the lower levels of the Sanctuary Tower.

Below, Liu Ruyan was waiting in full battle array.

When she heard the commotion and looked over, she saw Yang Dianfeng being thrown to the ground like a miserable ant. Then, a foot stepped directly onto his face.

“Lu Jin! It really is you!”

When Liu Ruyan saw that the person descending from above was Lu Jin, her eyes filled with shock. Although she had suspected it might be him, seeing it confirmed caused a wave of panic to rise in her heart.

“Liu Ruyan, since you want to seek death, you can die together. What, did you send this trash to scout the way first?”

As Lu Jin spoke, he shifted his foot and crushed Yang Dianfeng’s palm.

Yang Dianfeng couldn’t make a sound. The parts of him that could produce noise were completely sewn shut. His eyes were wide with agony and terror. He had no doubt that Lu Jin intended to torture him to death.

    “You!”

Seeing Lu Jin’s brutality, Liu Ruyan gnashed her teeth. “This is the Sanctuary Tower! Lu Jin, there are countless experts outside. Even if I don’t kill you, you will be punished by the Holy Land’s rules for killing a fellow disciple. You will die a miserable death!”

Lu Jin chuckled. “Liu Ruyan, you came here specifically to kill me, so why bother pretending? Come. Today, I’ll send both of you on your way.”

    Footnotes:

TN1: “Waiting in full battle array” (严阵以待): A common idiom meaning to be fully prepared for an incoming attack or challenge.

Translator’s Note: Holy crap, Lu Jin is not playing around. Sewing someone’s mouth AND nose shut while destroying their Dantian? That is a level of “brutal torment” I wasn’t expecting, even for a revenge plot. Yang Dianfeng is basically a human balloon of pain at this point. And Liu Ruyan still trying to hide behind “sect rules” while she’s literally there to assassinate him is the height of hypocrisy. Do you think Lu Jin is going to give her the same “needle and thread” treatment, or does he have something even worse planned for his main betrayer? Drop a comment, it genuinely keeps me going.
