Volume 3 + Chapter 21: A Thousand Snows On The Princess Gown

“So… can I choose not to wear it?” That was Ouyang Qianxue’s tentative question after being backed into a corner by the crowd.

“It seems you’re forcing my hand! Sisters, go!” At the drama club president’s command, several girls stepped forward to strip off Qianxue’s clothes.

“Wait! Could you all just step outside and let me change by myself?” Panic crept into Qianxue’s voice, if he had to change in front of everyone, his secret would surely be exposed.

“We’re all girls here, what’s there to be shy about? The boys have already been shooed out. I think you’re just making excuses. Everyone, get her!” With that, the girls grabbed at the school uniform Qianxue was wearing.

“Hold on!” Just then, Wang Qian pushed open the door to the club room.

“Why don’t you all step outside? I’ll take care of Qianxue.”

    “Huh? Why?”

“Because I’m the one who always does Qianxue’s makeup back in the dorm. So I know best what suits her and how to style her.” Saying this, Wang Qian pulled out a makeup kit.

“That still doesn’t mean you have to kick us out.”

“I’m asking you to leave so I can give you all a surprise later. Once I’ve finished getting Qianxue ready, I promise you’ll meet a completely different Princess Qianxue!”

“Oh, so that’s it. But Qianxue can be so uncooperative!”

“No worries, I’m an expert at handling her. I’m sure she’ll behave perfectly in front of me. Isn’t that right, Qianxue?”

“Yes, yes, yes!” Ouyang Qianxue nodded frantically.

“Then we’re counting on you!” The drama club president led the girls out of the club room to wait outside.

“Phew, I’m saved. That was close, thank you, Wang Qian.” Once they were the only two left in the room, Ouyang Qianxue let out a sigh of relief.

“Honestly. What did I do to end up stuck with someone who worries me so much?”

“But now that they’re gone, why are you still fiddling with your makeup kit?”

“To do your makeup after you put on the gown, of course.” Wang Qian picked up the princess gown from the chair and stepped closer to Qianxue.

    “Wang Qian, don’t joke around!”

“I’m not joking. Do you think you’re getting out of here today without wearing this princess gown? If you don’t want those girls to dress you themselves, you’d better cooperate.”

“Ahhh!” Qianxue glanced at the princess gown in Wang Qian’s hand and reluctantly resigned himself to fate.

“Then turn around. You know I’m a boy!” Qianxue took the gown from Wang Qian.

Half an hour later, Wang Qian stepped out of the club room.

“How is she?” the drama club president asked hurriedly.

“All done. Qianxue, come out and let everyone see!” Wang Qian called into the room, but there was no response from inside.

“Actually, after I finished getting you ready, I took a quick photo of you.”

“What? How could you do that?” A wavering voice came from inside the club room.

“If I count to three and you don’t come out, I’ll send this photo to your little sister Qianyue. Two, one…”

“Hey! Weren’t you supposed to count to three?” Ouyang Qianxue rushed out of the room in a panic.

The moment everyone saw Qianxue, silence fell. Every pair of eyes was fixed on him.

He wore a white princess gown with a cinched waist that accentuated his slender figure. His delicate collarbone was faintly visible, and the milky-white glow of his skin was magnified infinitely by the dress. His golden long hair, paired with an exquisite headpiece, made her look both noble and lovely.

“D-Don’t stare at me like that! This outfit is so embarrassing!” Feeling the weight of their gazes, Qianxue took a step back and lowered his head.

“It’s… it’s absolutely perfect!” It took a full five minutes before the drama club president managed to stammer out those words.

“Qianxue must have stepped right out of a fairy tale! How could someone this beautiful exist in the world?”

“Ah, Qianxue is so beautiful she makes me question my own existence. Standing next to her, I feel ashamed to call myself a girl!” One by one, following the president’s lead, everyone burst into praise.

“See? My skills aren’t bad, right? I did both her headpiece and her light makeup!” Wang Qian said proudly.

“But you know, Qianxue, you’re actually infuriating. I hesitated forever while doing your makeup. You’re naturally gifted, foundation would make you look too pale, your long, fine lashes don’t need mascara, and your rosy lips… I couldn’t find a single lipstick shade prettier than your natural color. So in the end, I just added a little blush and styled your hair.”

“That’s not true!” Qianxue buried her face even deeper.

“Ou… Ouyang-senpai!” Duan Haichen was utterly speechless at the sight of Qianxue’s appearance. At that moment, he truly believed that fairies existed in the world, and that fairy was his senior Ouyang, standing right before him.

But after the initial shock of Qianxue’s princess ensemble wore off, he immediately turned his face away.

“What’s wrong, Duan? Don’t you want to keep looking at your beloved Ouyang-senpai?” The drama club president noticed his expression and teased him.

“I… I don’t deserve to! Earlier, when that bastard Bai Yuxuan was bullying Ouyang-senpai, not only could I not help, but I ended up being saved by her. And worse, when faced with Bai Yuxuan’s threats, I was afraid. I’m such a coward!” Duan Haichen lowered his head and buried his face in his arms.

“Lift your head.” A hand rested on Duan Haichen’s shoulder. He looked up to see Ouyang Qianxue standing before him. His golden hair brushed past his face, carrying a faint scent of lime.

“Under those circumstances, any normal person would be scared. That’s just human instinct. But the fact that you stepped forward to help me when you saw Bai Yuxuan bullying me, knowing full well you had no martial arts training, proves that you are not the coward he called you.”

“But in the end, I still couldn’t beat Bai Yuxuan, and I let him humiliate you. So I really don’t deserve to be this ‘hero’!”

“Do you know? What matters most for a hero isn’t how well he fights or how capable he is, it’s that he has a heart more devoted to justice than anyone else. You dared to take on Bai Yuxuan even without knowing any martial arts. That means you are a man of backbone, one who dares to stand up for what’s right. The role of the hero suits you perfectly.”

“I… I!” Duan Haichen’s voice trembled at his words.

“It’s you, Ouyang-senpai! Not only are you stunning on the outside, but you’re also so kind to someone as weak as me. You’re not just like a saintess, you truly are one!”

“Please, spare me the ‘saintess’… After all, what kind of boy could ever be a saintess?” Qianxue whispered the last part so softly that Duan Haichen could not hear him.
