Chapter 575

Molofeel nearby set down his scroll and said, "Do you think I haven’t heard Eredar chanting spells to enslave demons before? I believe that one is for warlocks to communicate with powerful Demon Lords. I think the warlock who created this spell intended to speak with demons they were seeking through a means of crossing dimensions without angering them and risking their own demise."
"Do demons change their mood because of such spells?" Greed asked.
"Don’t forget, Fear, recklessness spells and other mental magic effects, dwarf." Molofeel said, "But your suspicion is not unreasonable. Demons like Nathrezim are hard to influence. As for others… Actually, there are many powerful demons that can be pleased. For example, brainless Annihilan falls for it, and some arrogant Eredar can also be fooled."
"No, no, no, Sayaad." imp said excitedly, "If it wasn’t for that weakening demon spell, I might agree with you, but look at these two lines…"
It spread the scroll on the ground, jumped on it and stepped on it, pointing to the sentences on the scroll and muttered some Demonic words that Jesse couldn’t understand, saying, "These two lines, along with that Kaldorei weakening spell, with enough powerful magic source support, this is not about reducing hostility at all, but an exaggerated form of active control and enslavement, forcing a master-servant relationship!"
"Previously, I could understand the motivation behind this spell, but something was clearly missing, so I couldn’t be sure. If there was a spell that could trap the demon inside, weakening its power, then this spell could achieve its intended effect, this is a specially modified and specialized spell! Of course, it’s not your fault, the Demonic language written by these Satyrs is all over the place, saying one thing and another, and even labeled with many unreadable languages, it’s really hard to fully understand!"
After listening, Molofeel surprisingly didn’t mock Saenor, she stared at the scroll for a while, licked her lips with her tongue and said, "You’re right, imp!"
"It’s not that I’m right, it’s just the way it is!" imp said, "So things are pretty clear now. The Satyr demons who were converted spent so much effort just to summon the Doomguard warlock we are looking for, then trap it and use it for themselves."
Vereesa asked, "So what special significance does this Doomguard have that they are putting in so much effort?"
"We can find a jungle troll," Greed threw the huge chicken leg bone aside and said, "Then toss Vyletongue’s head into their magical cauldron, and ask this head directly what it wants to do."
Vereesa glanced at him and said, "Now is not the time for troll jokes, dwarf."
Jesse said, "Maybe Satyr wants to summon it because the residents of Eldre’Thalas sealed it in the prison."
"It seems like we really have no choice but to visit Eldre’Thalas," Greed licked his finger and said. "Now I have a strange feeling, as if an invisible hand is pushing me towards that ancient city."
"A hand made of gold coins, Greed," Vereesa reminded. "Don’t forget that if we can find Dethmoora, you can get a reward from the Reliquary…"
Before she could finish speaking, Vereesa suddenly perked up her ears, looking into the distance like a startled mountain cat hearing a strange sound.
"Let’s go."
She softly uttered this word, and Jesse and Greed immediately extinguished the fire, buried the chicken bones, the demons collected the scrolls on the ground, hiding themselves, and Mosa quietly cast a spell, causing the surrounding bushes and weeds to engulf this place, then transformed into a large cat and followed the others into the jungle.
They slowly moved deeper into the jungle, Jesse felt Molofeel’s stealth around him getting stronger, to the point where even his demonic detection couldn’t see clearly, only feeling a faint trace through Soul Link. Clearly, she also sensed something very threatening approaching.
Vereesa didn’t explain what she felt, now was probably not the time to talk. They reached a shady area with dense vegetation, and she tugged on Jesse’s cloak to signal to stop.
After everyone fell silent, the deep jungle became eerily quiet.
A beetle crawled past Jesse’s feet, making a crisp sound as its feet brushed against the leather boots.
Suddenly, the sound of conversation could be heard from somewhere far away.
The voices sounded like they belonged to a few women, and Jesse furrowed his brow in concern.
Kaldorei’s sentry?
Then, a few people over there blew some whistles, and rough growls of wild beasts could be heard. Vereesa took the opportunity to look over, and Jesse also curiously tried to do the same but was stopped by her.
The sound of bushes being trampled and pushed aside gradually faded away. Vereesa breathed a sigh of relief and leaned back against the tree, whispering, "I saw it."
"What was that?" Greed urgently asked, "Why did I hear a tiger’s roar?"
"It’s not an ordinary tiger," Vereesa replied, "It’s a pack of saber-toothed panthers, the ancient mounts of the Kaldorei. They have been steadfast allies for ten thousand years."
"So we’ve encountered local elves?" Greed took a couple of steps closer and whispered, "What do they look like? Oh, I should have taken a look earlier."
"Your big head will immediately give away our location, dwarf," Vereesa squinted and said, "I will describe it simply for you – skin of deep silver or light purple, hair in shades of blue or green, tall and strong… just like the description in the book."
"They are wearing leather armor, wielding swords, carrying longbows, maybe four or five of them. Honestly, I can’t judge their strength. If the information from Reliquary is correct, these Kaldorei may have lived for thousands of years, each one should not be underestimated, better not provoke any conflict."
"Thousands of years?!" The dwarf raised an eyebrow, took a deep breath, then pointed to the leather bag lying on the back of the large cat next to him, asking, "Don’t we have the antler given by the Woodland Protector? What is there to worry about?"
"That can only be used as a last resort to clear up misunderstandings." Jesse said, "Don’t forget the issues between Quel’Thalas and them, Greed, it’s better not to meet if it’s avoidable."
"These are all minor matters, Jesse, what’s more important is I don’t believe the Kaldorei can really capture me." Vereesa adjusted her hood and smirked, saying, "Looks like it’s just like this now."
