Chapter 090: The Blaze and the Icy Blood
What spell, Invisibility?
Even if you are invisible, you have to come out and fight me, Jesse stared at the room in front of him, ready to strike when a phantom appeared, he didn’t remember the Naga carrying a weapon, daring to duel with him bare-handed?
Even if Sethrak, what about it? Its tail has been cut off, can it still strangle me?
Right, it also has claws…
However, the phantom he was waiting for did not appear, and he trembled at the sudden burst of loud noise.
Looking towards the doorway, the once dark second-floor corridor was instantly illuminated by the fire.
Naga laughed wildly, and Jesse realized she was going to set fire to the place!
She could protect herself and escape with water magic, but Jesse had no way to shield himself. Once Naga blocked the door…
However, the flames did not ignite immediately because the house was too damp to easily catch fire like a normal one.
Naga quickly began casting her magic again. It was unclear what type of fire magic she was using, but the whole room was filling with black smoke. If this continued, the place would surely catch fire. Even if they didn’t burn to death, they would suffocate…
Jesse confirmed the witch’s location by chanting a spell and decisively rushed out, stepping on the blood-soaked ground.
As soon as he entered the room, Naga, who had her back to him, suddenly turned around with a terrifyingly calm expression on her face.
In her hand, she wielded a rusted harpoon she had found somewhere, aimed at Jesse as he entered. The black smoke from the raging flames surrounding her made her seem like a lava fire demon emerging from hell!
Run!
Jesse quickly and accurately chanted a spell, catching Naga off guard. Naga tried to react but couldn’t, and her calm expression suddenly turned into panic.
She let out a cry and fell backward, unable to hold onto the harpoon even with her four arms!
Naga cried out and tried to escape by running into the wall behind her, but she couldn’t get away. Blood from her severed tail put out some of the fires that had started, and the thick, foul-smelling smoke filled the room even more.
"Hissss… Hissss!"
The sea witch’s arms scraped against the wall behind her as Jesse, trying to stay calm, kicked her in the back, knocking the unbalanced sea witch to the ground. He stepped on her head, trying to chop at her neck, but it didn’t completely sever. Using her strange strength, Naga broke free from Jesse, her head still partly attached to her neck, and ran downstairs in a frenzy, crying and shouting in a strange, muffled voice.
Jesse wanted to chase after her, but his feet felt heavy as if they were stuck in place, and he felt a strong urge to vomit.
This was fear… Intense fear.
Since earlier, he had been forcing himself to ignore these terrifying scenes, pushing aside his negative emotions in order to survive and fight the sea witch at close range!
However, when the Naga with a half-cut neck and a skin head swinging in flames with its incomplete body, desperately yelling and running downstairs, Jesse’s will was on the verge of collapsing.
Is this the effect of Fear? Or real fear? Does the Naga’s crying have a fear effect?
Or is there really no difference between them?
But Jesse knew that the effect of the Shadow Protection Potion must have worn off.
No, he couldn’t let this Naga go, at least he had to leave here quickly, seeing the fire starting on the second floor.
Jesse closed his eyes and rushed down the stairs, following the bloodstains illuminated by the fire all the way downstairs. On the ground about fifty to sixty meters away from downstairs, the Naga was writhing crazily on the ground, or rather, the Naga’s body was writhing.
Her head had been shaken off by violent movements, now lying askew in a nearby sand window, her face frozen in a grim expression.
With a loosening of Jesse’s fingers, the knife fell to the ground.
He walked to a nearby stone slab and sat down, continuously rubbing his face, trying to calm down quickly.
The injured Naga’s body lay nearby, twitching constantly. Its muscles, full chest, smooth scales, and slimy skin shimmered in the moonlight, with streaks of blood on it.
Jesse stared at the body, with only one thing in mind – he couldn’t risk his life for nothing. He had to figure out how to take something with him. He couldn’t just walk away because of fear of the Naga’s body.
Fighting his nausea, Jesse waited until the body stopped moving. He walked over to the Naga, kicked the body with his foot, but to his surprise, the Naga’s hand grabbed his ankle!
Jesse was so scared that he jumped up, kicking frantically until he finally broke free, even breaking the Naga’s arm in the process.
This Naga seemed to be just a low-ranking sea creature, with no ornaments and certainly no magic wand. It was just a bare body with only a string of pearls on its head.
"Pearl string…" Jesse muttered, wanting to get close to the head, but the head was staring intently at him.
Was it looking at him, or did it just happen to be facing his direction when it died?
Jesse took a few steps to the side and noticed that the eyes were still following him.
He cursed under his breath, rubbed his face, looked back, and it was still staring at him.
Not an illusion at all.
"Why won’t you die?! Can’t you just die completely?"
After thinking for a while, he suddenly remembered that he wasn’t alone.
"Saenor, come out for me."
Imp then popped out of the bag and looked around.
"So scary, master, what is this thing…"
"So you’re afraid too?"
"If master’s not scared, then I’m not scared!" Imp jumped out of the bag and asked, "What do you want me to do, master?"
"Here." Jesse picked up the knife and threw it to him, saying, "Cut off the fish fins and take off that string of pearls for me."
"Obey!" Imp exerted all his strength to lift the knife and headed towards Naga’s head. Halfway there, Naga suddenly locked eyes with him.
"How is she still alive?!" Saenor muttered, standing still in disbelief.
"Why are you more cowardly than me?"
Jesse took a deep breath, spat on his hands, puffed out his chest as he snatched the knife, and with closed eyes, struck Naga’s forehead with a loud thud!
The knife went in but did not split the head open, yet the evil light in Naga’s eyes finally faded.
Both the human and the demon felt much relieved.
Looking from above, the string of jewels seemed easily removable without cutting anything.
Jesse gazed into Naga’s eyes, slowly removed the necklace, and this time Naga made no further movements, she was truly dead.
It’s a pity that Greed didn’t witness this scene in person, otherwise, it would have been truly powerful.
No, Jesse thought to himself that he must bring back something to prove he killed a Naga. The pearl necklace is definitely not enough.
He really didn’t want to move that head anymore, let alone bring it back whole.
Maybe I’ll just take some scales instead.
By the way, can Naga scales be used to make medicine?
"Saenor, let’s get to work," Jesse said.
