Chapter 061: Stormy Weather!
Jessie wiped the rain off her face to see more clearly. The creature was steadily coming down the hill towards them.
By its outline, it was definitely not human, nor a dwarf. It was much taller than any human or dwarf… In Redridge, there was only one possibility for such a being.
It was the Orc!
"Run, Greed!"
"He…"
Before Jesse could finish her sentence, she pushed Greed towards the lake shore and jumped in herself, both of them tumbling down the steep slope.
They landed on a patch of mud, quickly got up, and sprinted towards Lakeshire. The creature also slid down, moving much faster than them.
Charging like a fierce athlete, he was full of strength, definitely not resembling the frail image of a wise Sage, but more like a seasoned warrior.
The sand and splashes behind him looked like they were being kicked up by a speeding jeep, he was afraid that they would be run over when they reached him.
"Can’t run away… from me!" shouted the dwarf, swinging the small round shield back into his hand.
Jesse, though unwilling, knew that Greed was right, running further would just waste energy and they would be caught eventually.
In the pouring rain, the figure of the burly man became clearer and clearer. He was a dark green-skinned giant, holding a long stick, his dark brown tangled hair swaying in the wind, eyes fixed on the two of them, muscles tense like stone.
He growled as he charged, swinging the stick in his hand. Jesse could see the whirlwind of dust rising around his muscles and arms!
Greed raised the shield to block, but Orc, fueled by the charge, knocked both the shield and him down with exaggerated force, it was not like a jeep, more like a train!
After knocking down the dwarf, Orc took a step and charged towards Jesse. Jesse raised the sword to defend, but Orc directly broke it with a strike from his metal wrist guard, 5 silver coins were gone just like that.
Orc raised his stick, and Jesse also raised the stick behind him to block this strike. When Orc saw this stick, he paused for a moment, in that moment, Jesse saw his face clearly.
His face was more a fusion of a wild beast and a human, rather than a skinned skull.
Between his tightly closed thick lips, a pair of aggressive fangs jutted up high, while his eyes widened like an angry tiger.
In this moment of hesitation, the Orc suddenly let out a low growl, and Greed, without knowing when, ran over and stabbed his leg with a sword. The Orc furiously smashed Greed in the face with his wrist guard, sending him flying in the air, spinning twice before landing on the ground.
Seeing this scene, Jesse’s mind went blank. This was bad.
The Orc pulled the sword out of his leg and threw it aside. Turning around, his expression on his face was many times fiercer than before.
Jesse knew that the Orc wasn’t angry because of Greed’s sword, but because of the stick in his hand.
He thought that all the Shamans in the tribe had already abandoned the ways of the elements and turned to the shadows. This lonely one indeed had consumed demon blood, his naturally brown skin turning green. He must have also embraced fel magic and the path of shadows.
However, based on previous speculations, this Orc was evidently adhering to the Shaman ways, which indicated that he had recovered somewhat from the frenzy and bloodthirst brought by demon blood, starting to contemplate the influence of demons on the Orc tribe.
These awakened Orcs would harbor even greater hatred towards anything related to demons.
Initially, Jesse had doubts about this, but the sudden change in the Orc’s expression confirmed his guess!
He saw the old belongings of the tribe. As a Shaman, the highest-ranking member of the former tribe, he harbored deep hatred towards the high-ranking members of the Shadow Council who had led the Shamans to fall from grace!
The Orc roared and swung a stick down. Jesse quickly stood up and dodged to the side, the stick smashing into the sandy soil, splashing a large amount of water.
The Orc chased wildly, while Jesse kept evading. He remembered the words of the dwarf, turning his weaknesses into strengths, and understanding his opponent’s attacks.
The opponent was strong, but his large body made his moves predictable.
Shamans were not professional fighters. Despite the terrifying strength brought by their race, their close combat experience could not match that of real warriors. Jesse just needed to be patient, stay focused on avoiding attacks, and wait for Greed to come help…
Suddenly, he wondered, after being thrown so far away just now, could Greed still wake up?
Jesse stepped back step by step, dodging two strikes in a row. The Orc was about to thrust the stick violently when an arrow suddenly appeared on its shoulder.
"Over here, you beast!" Greed shouted loudly from afar. "Dare ignore me, and I’ll turn you into a sieve!"
Jesse didn’t know when Greed had picked up his quiver. Even at this distance, Jesse could feel that after the chaos just now, there were not many arrows left in the quiver.
The Orc didn’t seem to care about Greed’s arrows. After pulling one out, he kept hitting Jesse with a stick. Just as he raised his hand, another arrow hit his shoulder.
"What, do you think I can’t aim with only one eye?" the dwarf laughed.
The Orc turned around and started chanting something. Suddenly, lightning and thunder filled the sky.
He gathered a ball of electricity surrounded by water vapor in his hand, constantly hitting and bursting, emitting white flashes that stung Jesse’s vision, but Orc was clearly heading towards Greed.
"What the heck is this?!"
The dwarf screamed, trying to run away, while Jesse shouted and stood up, swinging the stick fiercely towards Orc’s electrified wrist.
The electric ball scattered some energy when he hit it, Orc roared lowly, then forcefully waved his hand again…A chain of lightning flashed abruptly between the hands of Greed and Orc, illuminating the surrounding water, beach, and forest. Jesse was knocked down by the explosion of the dispersed electric current.
Greed, who was running from afar, froze in a dazzling white light, then fell to the ground.
Jesse turned and ran away, shouting Saenor’s name, but imp did not respond.
At that moment, he only realized that the package containing imp had been left on the lakeside on Greed’s side.
Darn it…
Orc turned around, staring closely at the fleeing Jesse and chanting something, a fierce flame forming in his hand, even in the rain, he could still gather the element of fire into this flame!
Watching the flame in his hand grow bigger and bigger, Jesse thought to himself, is this definitely a life-threatening moment?
Fear, Fear!
He turned back and quietly recited a spell, the staff in his hand pointing directly at the Orc in front of him. As the spell was completed, he felt like most of his spirit had been drained, almost falling to the ground with weak knees.
Looking back at the Orc, the flame in his hand suddenly dispersed by half, turning into a shower of sparks on the ground. He trembled for a moment, half-kneeling on the ground, roaring continuously about something.
It worked, Fear worked.
How long can it last?
He bravely picked up the sword the Orc threw away, turned around, and stabbed the trembling Orc hard in the chest!
Thud!
The sword got stuck in the ribs! What a monster!
Should stab the belly…
However, it was too late for that thought. The Orc woke up from the pain, grabbed Jesse’s sword blade, raised a fist, and Jesse had to let go of the sword and step back to dodge.
The punch almost hit his nose, but the Orc stumbled back with great force and tripped over the soft ground beneath.
Now was not the time for Jesse to feel sorry for himself. Jesse used Fear again, and the Orc’s eyes widened in anger as he half-kneeled on the ground, roaring uncontrollably.
He gathered his strength, focused on Greed lying on the other side. He didn’t have much energy left to continue fighting, so this time he ran over with Greed.
However, before reaching the dwarf, the Orc began to move.
In less than ten seconds…
This Orc’s willpower is definitely not weaker than Greed’s.
The Orc stared at the fleeing humans, not using fire magic this time, but throwing away his sword and summoning thunder with both hands again!
From a distance, Jesse saw the lightning in the sky striking into his hands, forming a spectacular electric ball.
This guy seemed to be connecting heaven and earth with his own power, and Jesse hadn’t even heard of this Redridge Shaman before, meaning he might just be an ordinary shaman, showcasing the terrifying power of elemental magic.
Whoever it is…
Jesse immediately muttered the Fear spell, and after casting it, he collapsed to the ground, feeling a sudden dizziness from low blood sugar, everything went black before his eyes.
But the Orc wasn’t faring any better, his eyes widened in a daze, body stiffened in place, the lightning in his hands exploded, scattering into the sand and lake, the electric currents dispersing along the shore, causing a series of flickering white lights.
However, he only remained breathing heavily in place, groaning for a moment before coming back to his senses again.
He angrily shouted something in the Orcish language, limping towards this direction. He roared loudly and conjured a ball of lightning with one hand again.
The Orc was visibly struggling to stay strong, the electrical energy he gathered getting weaker each time. It was now a test of willpower.
Jesse shook Greed back and forth, but Greed had already passed out, though at least he still had breathing and a heartbeat.
The lightning spell that just hit him directly could have killed him, so it was fortunate that he survived.
Just as he turned around to prepare to use Fear again, the electricity in the Orc’s hand suddenly exploded.
Jesse watched as a white light engulfed him, all surroundings drowned out by the deafening sound, a indescribable piercing pain running through his body from head to toe, feeling as though his organs were being burned.
However, after the electric shock wave passed, he staggered back in pain, not dead, not even unconscious.
His limbs felt almost completely numb, unable to stand up even while crouching on the ground, but he was still conscious.
How could I possibly withstand hits as well as a dwarf?
At that moment, he noticed the blood vessels on his skin and faint crimson patterns beneath his skin, these patterns were not blood vessels, but looked like words! With the flow of these strange things, he felt a rush of heat as if his blood was boiling.
The Orc hesitated for a moment due to his exaggerated resistance to electric shocks, but then a scream from afar caught both of their attention.
"Master, thank me for saving your life! This is the power of the Blood Pact!"
