Chapter 053: Still Need to Find a Professional Teacher
Saenor, a cat-sized little monster, roared like a wild beast when he shouted his true name, causing the entire room to suddenly be shrouded in darkness, and the windows to shake!
Jesse got a chill down his spine, and had to pick up the piece of paper containing the Strangulation Curse once again.
After speaking, the imp was exhausted, panting heavily. Seeing Jesse pick up the paper again, the imp opened his mouth, stuck out his tongue, and desperately tried to speak while pointing at the paper but no sound came out. Tears seemed to be welling up in his eyes.
But his eyes were filled with flames, so he definitely couldn’t shed any tears.
Jesse understood what he meant, so he put away the paper, and the imp suddenly flopped down on the ground.
"Calling my real name is very tiring, master. You remembered it once, please don’t make me call it again in the future!"
Jesse asked in confusion, "Can imps get tired too? Aren’t you a demon, a magical creature?"
"We don’t have the same physical strength as you mortals." Saenor regained her sharp tone, "But calling out our true names drains our energy, depletes our magic. After that, I can no longer use any magic. I need to rest…"
"But your true name is too hard to remember." Jesse touched his nose and said, "When you called it just now, your voice was too loud, I couldn’t hear clearly."
"Doesn’t the master speak Demonic? That’s very strange," Saenor’s voice was filled with helplessness, "If you don’t speak Demonic, how could you have summoned me here? If you speak Demonic, remembering the true names of demons should be easy. Either the master is a fool or deceiving me."
Ha, fool.
Jesse suddenly realized… Why not learn Demonic from this imp? Show the imp the book containing Orcish Language and another unknown language, and help translate for him?
Why did he only realize the benefit of summoning a demon now? He felt like his brain couldn’t function before. Why didn’t he think of summoning a demon to teach him Demonic?
Actually, it’s not that his brain couldn’t function, but he used to be a normal person!
Thinking about this, Jesse felt like he was much crazier than a month ago.
If he had thought about summoning a demon a month ago, he would have thought he was crazy, but now he feels crazy for not considering summoning a demon!
"Okay, enough of silly thoughts, teach me Demonic," Jesse immediately said, "It’s the master’s command."
"Whatever the master says is a command… I must follow the master’s command… Ah, so tiring, so many commands."
As he spoke, this imp fell asleep.
How can you fall asleep at a time like this?
Jesse patted the imp’s face, and when he touched the other’s skin, he felt a creepy chill that was both uncomfortable and burning his fingertips. This conflicting sensation made him instinctively feel like he had touched something extremely unnatural.
He checked his fingers, but there were no visible injuries, is this the feel of demon skin?
The imp lifted its head unhappily and said, "I want to rest… Master, I want to forget the master’s command!"
"If you want to sleep, you must disappear first," Jesse said coldly. "Phase Shift immediately, don’t show your appearance here. Do you know what will happen if you expose yourself in the human kingdom? From now on, when there is a third party present, you must be invisible. No one other than me should see you!"
Saenor lazily said, "I remember the master’s request, but how will humans treat me?"
"Do you know what Holy Light is?" Jesse asked.
"Holy Light? Holy Light?" Saenor yelled hoarsely, "Does this world also have priests of Holy Light and warriors of Holy Light?"
"In Azeroth, they are known as priests and Paladins," Jesse explained. "Just a few hundred meters to the north, there’s a Holy Light church with almost a hundred priests and Paladins inside."
"No!" Saenor jumped up and said, "It’s you, master, who dragged me into this mess! No! Azeroth was supposed to be a beautiful world full of Arcane magic, why is Holy Light taking over here?"
Jesse scolded, "Shut up and be invisible before you sleep!"
"I don’t have the strength to turn invisible anymore… I have been weakened severely by someone uncovering my true demon name, I can’t do it now, master!" Saenor helplessly growled.
Suddenly, a knocking sound was heard.
Jesse looked out the window, it must be very early in the morning, and he was making a lot of noise at this time.
Jesse kicked the imp under the bed with his foot, then opened the door.
"Mr. Seso," the neighbor old lady leaned in the doorway and said, "If there’s something sad bothering you and you can’t sleep, you can come chat with me during the day, I have no one to talk to. But it’s too late now."
"No… nothing’s wrong, ma’am," Jesse said. "I was just practicing my drama, I have a performance tomorrow, I’m nervous and afraid I won’t do well. But I’m done now, I’ll go to sleep soon!"
"Good to hear!" The old lady trembled as she turned and walked upstairs, Jesse slammed the door shut, sat on the bed with his heart beating fast.
He glanced under the bed and saw that the imp was fast asleep.
Jesse sat on the bed, thinking back to his conversation with the imp.
He realized something was not quite right.
Saenor obviously knew about the existence of the world Azeroth, but seemed unaware of its current situation. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been unaware of the human belief in the Holy Light.
He might only know about the ancient history of Azeroth, when the Titans created the world, the elves ruled, and humans were living in tribes thousands of years ago.
So why does he speak the common language?
His way of speaking the common language sounds different, not like the accent from Stormwind or Lordaeron.
Demons that die in Azeroth don’t disappear, they are banished back to the Twisting Nether as soul fragments. After absorbing enough shadow and fel magic, they can rebuild their bodies and return to life.
If a demon dies in the Twisting Nether, they are truly gone. That’s why he is scared of the Ghost King turning him into a Soul Shard, because that means permanent death.
Could it be that he was summoned to Azeroth long ago, learned the common language, and accidentally died and was banished back to the Twisting Nether?
He will have to ask about it once he wakes up.
When did the common language first appear in Azeroth? Was it during the ancient Arathor era or earlier?
Jesse realized he didn’t know much about this, he needed to read more books from Malin.
