Chapter 052: The Sazazerilaz
In the middle of the night, Jesse sat on the edge of his bed. He knew he couldn’t fall asleep, especially not until he solved this mystery. He wouldn’t be able to sleep soundly again without figuring it out.
That is—
Holding the mysterious magic wand, about to summon an imp.
Based on his previous experience casting Fear with the Orcmagic wand he held, the outcome was highly unpredictable. It could result in a bunch of imps appearing, or perhaps even summon a terrifying unknown demon…
He looked at the written spells for summoning demons on the table, as well as the spells to end the summoning of demons… His focus shifted to the spell to destroy the summoning of demons – that was the most important.
Jesse repeated the words silently over and over, not knowing how many times, until he could recite the spell to kill demons perfectly, even when he wasn’t saying it, the words kept repeating in his mind, and he refused to give up.
Bimsennox, Cootinny, Elramahikin.
If the magic went out of control, he would recite this spell and destroy everything summoned all at once, no matter how many.
He didn’t want to simply summon a humble imp servant like Zardeth or Gakin did. Since they mentioned the arrogant Dwarf Warlocks of Ironforge, who claimed summoning an imp was just a basic requirement for a warlock, he was not content with summoning a regular imp.
Even if completing such an easy task, it wouldn’t significantly help him on his journey forward, he wanted something bigger.
Since he had made a decision, all that was left was to carry it out.
It could be painful, it could be a struggle, and there could even be regret, but in moments of decision, one must decide – that’s what you taught me.
Jesse picked up the magic wand with his left hand, feeling a strange connection forming between the wand and his heart, unsure if it was just a vision or if something real was happening.
He cleared a space in the middle of the room, carefully recalling Gakin’s spellcasting movements. He practiced the spell by himself without chanting first to make sure everything was fine, before starting to chant the spell.
Léne-a, Táéni… There is no turning back… Anvi, Solermi, Eolgasobims.
As expected, the magic wand wrapped in coarse cloth began to emit mysterious purple light from the seams, and the purple light around Jesse was much stronger than the dark shadow he created when casting spells in the basement.
He covered the window with a bedsheet, watching as the magic circle in front of him unfolded uncontrollably, a dark crack appearing in the middle.
Papers, books, cloth bags, and miscellaneous items in the room were constantly being shaken up by the emerging magic.
Jesse grabbed the two notes left by the warlocks, silently reciting the Anti-summon Spell in his mind. He made sure that if anything strange emerged from the seams, he would immediately chant the spell to stop it.
Won’t summon a succubus, right?
When playing games, I always think that if I were a warlock, I must summon a succubus to consume every day until it’s dark and people are exhausted.
But when actually encountering this world, I realized that succubus is not fun at all.
He tried his best to avoid his mind being twisted, and succubus was undoubtedly one of the strongest forces that led warlock to fall.
Not to mention their much stronger combat power than imps, if a succubus is summoned, Jesse even doubted that he wouldn’t have time to use the Strangulation Curse spell and would be charmed on the spot, turning into a succubus slave.
All taking has a price, extreme pleasure will end in extreme pain, succubus is not a charity worker.
Before the crevice fully opened, he was already prepared to cast the Strangulation Curse spell.
As long as the crevice kept expanding, beyond the size that seemed to only allow one imp to pass through, he would immediately start casting the spell!
With the power of his magic wand, wouldn’t he be able to execute even a Demon Guard if it came in, let alone a succubus?!
Execute or be executed?
Luckily, the crevice didn’t keep expanding, instead staying the same size as when he cast the spell in The Slaughtered Lamb basement.
A small claw stretched out from the crack, then the whole monster suddenly leaped out and landed on the wooden floor, the spell circle suddenly disappeared, and the crack closed up.
The room became quiet, with only the monster and Jesse leaning against the window.
The imp, yes, had two long horns, eyes shining with green flames, like a small hairless monkey smaller than a cat.
But its whole body was dark golden, skin resembling metal rather than flesh.
Anyway, Jesse was ready to strangle the little monster.
At that moment, the imp mumbled incomprehensible words while staring at Jesse.
"Can you speak the common language?" Jesse asked.
"Common language?" the imp asked, "So, this is Azeroth? Ha, my master is a human, and I have arrived in Azeroth, how wonderful! You have no idea what a great feat you have accomplished, my master… You just saved me from the clutches of Ghost King Yaroslbal. I was about to be executed by it!"
What a mess.
Jesse asked, "Where do you come from?"
"Where are you from?" the master asked, and the imp named Jumping replied, "I am a servant of the Ghost King Yaroslbal, who is a leader of imps in Nastoy. He has his own palace and army, and I am one of his guards. But I made a small mistake, and for that tiny error, he wants to throw me into the furnace to melt me into soul fragments. He is such a cruel guy!"
Nastoy, Yaroslbal, and Jesse had never heard of these strange names.
Zardeth had mentioned that these imps might come from a place so unknown even demons haven’t heard of it. Considering how vast the Twisting Nether is, even the Burning Legion can’t conquer it all, so it’s not strange for an imp from a mysterious place to appear.
"But all that doesn’t matter," the imp said. "I have arrived in Azeroth, and he can’t catch me now. Moreover, I have made a contract with a warlock so powerful that he brought me from faraway Nastoy to here. It’s unbelievable! I will start my new life, my new life in Azeroth. You have no idea how famous Azeroth is in the Twisting Nether. Even the leader of the Burning Legion, Sargeras, wants to attack here! Oh… um, it may not be good if Sargeras wants to invade here."
The imp scratched his chin and said, "But he shouldn’t be able to come here anytime soon, haha!"
"You are not from the Burning Legion?" Jesse asked.
The imp explained, "Ghost King Yaroslbal wants to join the Burning Legion, but he never got the chance. No Eredar wanted to summon a Ghost King to serve them! Since he is not part of it, neither am I. I don’t want to be part of the Burning Legion. I prefer being a free imp!"
"Oh, freedom, contract, master, servant, it’s a bit contradictory, but it doesn’t matter. I think you are not that powerful, so maybe you will die in a few days, and then I will be completely free!"
"Hmm," Jesse nodded and started reading from a paper, "Bim Sennoxi…"
"Wait!" imp shouted, "Stop, stop, stop!"
Jesse crumpled the paper and mimicked his sharp tone, saying, "You wish for my death, I’ll make you die directly, very fair!"
"Too fast, dying too fast, I can’t accept it!" imp grumbled unhappily, "What did I say wrong? A weak warlock will surely die quickly, this world is too dangerous, there are too many powerful beings, with one misstep, you’re done for, am I not right? For example, if a dragon passed by here and accidentally breathed fire, could you withstand it? If a great demon walked by and accidentally exhaled, your bones would be gone! They might not even know who you are!"
"But that doesn’t mean I wish for your death, my new master, if you become stronger, then of course I’ll become stronger too, if you never die, then I’ll never die too. However, let’s be a bit realistic, haha! But still, I wish for you to never die! Although the chances are slim!"
Jesse felt speechless like he had eaten something terrible, but imp didn’t say anything wrong.
"Can you help me become stronger? Help me never die."
"It’s hard to say about never dying, as mortals can die suddenly. But, how would master like to become stronger?" imp asked.
"For example, learning more spells?" Jesse said.
Imp hopped back and forth, scratched his head, and said, "Learning too many spells doesn’t guarantee strength, my good master. Some Astral Mages can dominate the void with only one or two spells, while some weak races, even if they learn seventy to eighty spells, will still perish!"
Jesse thought that the imp was talking nonsense. How can a high-level Astral Mage only know one or two spells? For example, a protective spell to avoid being burned by wandering shadows in the void and a teleportation spell to jump between different planets are already two spells.
Does he not know any attack spells at all? If he accidentally meets a dog, he could be bitten to death. What kind of Astral Mage is he?
"So, can you do magic spells?" Jesse asked.
The imp grinned and said, "Of course, we of this clan are born with magic spells! Phasing, fire magic! But these spells cannot be learned, what a pity! You are not of our kind, so you cannot harness the magic within us!"
This imp is no different from a regular imp. In the game, imps can even cast "Blood Pact" to increase their health, something this imp didn’t mention.
However, the little creature didn’t seem malicious, so Jesse relaxed a bit.
"You said a strong warlock should be able to summon you, but Summon Imp is something any warlock can do. Thus, you must not be an ordinary imp. Tell me, what makes you different from those regular imps?"
"I am definitely not ordinary! Many imps have very weak phasing abilities. My masters can only fade away in this world but can’t truly turn invisible or shift to another plane like I can. I am a powerful imp from Nastoy, I can truly vanish, so much so that even you can’t see me. Like this."
A burst of Arcane energy flashed, and the imp suddenly disappeared before Jesse’s eyes.
Jesse got worried, where did he go?
Unlike Zardeth’s imp, which had a mysterious vibe, this guy disappeared as if he had never existed!
Jesse didn’t want to cause any trouble, so he quickly took out a piece of paper and started reading, "Bims…"
"Oh my!" the imp suddenly jumped out in a flash of light, bouncing around and shouting, "Stop reading, stop reading, I just disappeared for a while, I won’t harm you, great master! I feel that one day you will definitely become the greatest warlock in this world. After all, you are even more ruthless and cunning than the Nathrezim, always reciting such terrifying magic! It terrifies me!"
This imp seemed quite obedient, Jesse asked, "First, tell me, what’s your name?"
"Which name are you asking for, my name, or my true name?"
All demons have a true name that can only be spoken in Demonic. Once someone knows the true name, it’s like revealing a weakness and the demon can easily be subdued by the one uttering the name.
"Both."
"You can call me Saenor!" After saying this, the imp stood still, and the flames in its eyes seemed to expand a bit.
"Next, I will say my demon true name, master, because it is your command."
The imp, who called himself Saenor, spoke these words with a voice that gradually lost its sharp and sly tone, and instead became unusually deep and dark.
"Sa—za—er—ne—la—z!"
