Chapter 483: Let’s Do It the Horde Way
This was the first time Jesse had seen such a clear blessing spell of Holy Light, and Hubert, a priest who worked with warlocks and demons, praying to Holy Light magic, sounded more relaxed than the apprentices in the Holy Light Cathedral.
Although the orcs were outnumbered, each of them was strong and sturdy. None of them seemed to be less than two meters tall, some wearing armor, some wearing thick leather jackets made from unknown monsters, and two of them even carried heavy shields clearly brought from Draenor.
But they didn’t immediately launch an attack. Several orcs looked at each other, seemingly just realizing that the team in front of them was not easy to deal with.
There was an Orc staring at the Wolf Rider who had tragically died on the ground, with his chest now showing bones.
The Orc Warlock in a yellow robe was clearly the leader of this group of Orcs. He coughed and came down from the Worg, walking to the front. Aubergine spoke in the Orcish language, saying, "We are just scavengers, not soldiers of the Alliance. There is no need for a fight to the death."
Jesse was surprised that this official mage could speak the Orcish language, but the warlock spat and replied in Orcish, "For the safety of my tribe, you cannot leave here…"
"You don’t stand a chance," Aubergine warned in Orcish, "Do you think I haven’t killed Orcs before, warlock?"
Erlan whispered, "Don’t waste time talking to these darn beasts…"
"I don’t think these Orcs can defeat us," Wallis said, "Let them try!"
"There’s no need to get hurt," Aubergine said, "We’re here to make money, can’t you see? These Orcs want to survive too. Follow me outside, I promise you’ll all return with your money intact. Don’t be hasty, they seem hesitant too…"
"Honorable Duel," Jesse said, "I propose an Honorable Duel to them!"
"What’s an Honorable Duel?" Aubergine asked.
"Mak’gora," Jesse said.
"What… you mean that…" Aubergine frowned and said, "Are you challenging him to Mak’gora? But that is…"
While Aubergine hesitated, Jesse approached the warlock and said in Orcish, "I challenge you to Mak’gora!"
Hearing a human challenging an Orc to an Honorable Duel, the Orcs were all very surprised, and one Orc warrior even couldn’t help but laugh.
He looked at the two Wolf Riders beside him and said, "I killed your companion, and I request your ancestors to judge right from wrong!"
"Only Orcs can initiate Mak’gora!" a Wolf Rider roared, "Only Orcs are qualified to start Mak’gora!"
"But Mak’gora originally was an Ogre ceremony." Jesse looked at him and said in Orcish, "You should know better than me."
"Indeed…"
"Indeed," the Orc Warlock said, "No one ever said only Orcs can participate in Mak’gora… no one has the authority to dictate such rules for Mak’gora!"
"So, are you here to take part in the duel?" asked Jesse.
"What is Jurke planning to do?"
Dunn asked curiously, not understanding the communication between Orc and Jesse.
"This is a duel ritual that Orcs uphold," explained Aubergine. "In their tribe, these duels often settle many matters instead of laws and rules."
"But Jurke, you don’t have to do this."
"In this team, it’s my responsibility, just remember not to owe me my commission afterwards, Mr. Aubergine," said Jesse, giving him a glance.
"However, since the participants don’t necessarily have to be Orcs…" warlock chuckled, then began chanting a spell, a dark purple void circle appeared under his feet. Jesse noticed a faint dark light coming from his pocket, which was the light of the Soulstone being consumed!
He was summoning a demon!
Warlock opened a portal of the void, a tall shadow walked out from inside.
Unexpectedly… it was a Demon Guard!
"My comrade accepts the Mak’gora," the warlock said with a smile.
The Demon Guard was very tall, taller than any Burning Legion vanguard Jesse had ever seen on the battlefield, definitely over three meters tall. He was covered in chains, and even armor pieces were embedded on his heavy hooves.
Even more eye-catching was the red giant sword in his hand, with straight metal patterns crisscrossed on it, as if sealing the evil and bloody power within.
Cataclysm’s Edge?
This Demon Guard actually wielded Cataclysm’s Edge, the sword wielded by Archimonde’s henchmen, the corrupter.
Although Jesse had killed Demon Guards on the battlefield before, it was always in army formations where other soldiers were at the front and other Battle Mages provided cover.
This Demon Guard seemed different somehow, but now he had to face him alone.
"It seems like I must be the one to conduct this Honorable Duel," Hubert walked up to Jesse, holding a warhammer, and said, "I will unleash my fury in the name of the Holy Light, judging evil."
"It was me who challenged you to a duel, priest," said Jesse as he grabbed his shoulder. "You are important to this team, and if you get hurt, it will be hard for us to go far."
"I am a servant of the Holy Light, Jurke," said Hubert. "You can’t make me back down now."
"You don’t need to take this risk," Jesse said. "Trust me, even if I get hurt, I’ll recover quickly. Plus, this Mak’gora duel was my idea."
"But what if you die, master?" Molofeel appeared beside them unexpectedly, smiling as she embraced Jesse’s neck. "If you die, you can’t use Life Drain to bring yourself back."
"Duels are one-on-one only, Molofeel, otherwise these Orcs won’t be satisfied," Jesse said. "Let me handle this Demon Guard. Trust me, I’ve dealt with such monsters in front of the Dark Portal before, it’s nothing big."
"So, do you think you’ve killed more Demon Guards, or have I?" Molofeel asked softly. "I’m not trying to look down on you, master… but I’m sure none of you here can compare to me. I know every step, every move of these clumsy Demon Guards. Don’t forget who I am, dear."
"And besides, isn’t it more suitable for me to deal with this summoned demon servant?"
"Most importantly, I can’t let you fight a demon alone, I must be in this battle," she said, spinning a black razor in her hand and pointing at the Demon Guard, speaking in Demonic. "Rest assured, this fool won’t last more than thirty seconds."
The Demon Guard laughed loudly, its heavy chest making its voice sound harsh and unsettling, like banging on metal pipes.
"Molofeel…"
The succubus said, "I couldn’t protect you at the Dark Portal, now give me this chance."
"Then you use this." Jesse held the handle of the Azuresong Mageblade.
"The Arcane wielders who crafted this sword never intended for it to be used by demons." Molofeel smiled and said, "Wielding it will only lead to my demise, master."
