Chapter 465: A Letter Received
That afternoon, Jesse had just discussed meeting up with Zardeth again to teach everyone the spell of the Shadow Shield for practice.
Jesse was about to go to The Slaughtered Lamb to check on the progress of the house Jarel was finding for him, but as he entered The Blue Recluse to get something to eat, he noticed the Elf Mage, Elsharin, by the wall.
While he didn’t remember Elsharin’s appearance clearly, the light purple robes and light golden hair stood out, as there were only a few elves left in the Mage Quarter.
When Jesse looked over, Elsharin also noticed him. Despite the distance, Jesse politely nodded, and Elsharin waved back.
"Master Elsharin, thank you for helping me deliver that letter… I couldn’t have done it without you," Jesse approached and asked, "Did you need something from me, Master?"
"No need to thank me," Elsharin replied. "I just wanted to let you know that I handed Mrs. Vereesa Windrunner’s reply to your teacher yesterday."
"Already? Wasn’t it supposed to take a week? It’s only been three or four days…"
"I’m just guessing."
"I’ll go find the teacher right away…"
"Wait a moment," the elf whispered, "Mr. Seso."
"What’s wrong, Master?" Jesse asked.
Elsharin approached and asked, "When you used that magic to defeat Azgath, the sword in your hand was the Azuresong Mageblade, right?"
"Yes," Jesse replied.
The elf squinted and asked, "Do you have that sword with you now? Can I see it?"
Jesse looked around and said, "We have to go outside…"
The two of them left The Blue Recluse and arrived at a quiet corner in the garden. Jesse lifted his cloak and drew out the sword sheathed underneath.
The scabbard had been replaced by him with a regular-sized scabbard for a normal longsword. When he drew it out, the Arcane light in Elsharin’s eyes seemed to instantly brighten.
"Can I…" The elf reached out her hand, Jesse nodded and handed her the sword.
When Elsharin took the sword, she took a deep breath and after a while said, "Praise the sun, this sword is a true piece of art! In fact, some Magi in Quel’Thalas knew about this and doubted the decision of the Windrunner Family to give it away. But because Mrs. Vereesa Windrunner and you helped defeat Teron Gorefiend, the doubts were hard to refuse."
"However, after the Dark Portal this time, all doubts disappeared. What could be more romantic than the sound of the Azuresong Mageblade playing in the wasteland surrounded by demons? Not to mention ending with the fall of a Pit Lord…"
After saying that, she handed the sword back and said, "The Pit Lord, even for Quel’Thalas, is a legendary demon. Only the deepest archives in the library record the Pit Lord King who descended on the city of Radiant Isle ten thousand years ago."
Jesse took the Azuresong Mageblade and carefully placed it back into the scabbard.
"In any case, thank you, Jesse Seso, may the demonic corruption never shake the peace in your heart, as always."
The mage slightly bowed and walked away. Jesse stared after her, slowly starting to understand why so many elves already knew about him.
Quel’dorai grew up surrounded by the ancient stories of the Highborne. The Highborne were destroyed by the demon invasion, causing cataclysms. Therefore, the opening of the portals and the demons coming into their world were an unbearable apocalypse for them.
The elves felt it might be more special to have personally killed the demon general Azgath than it would for humans.
In Elsharin’s words, he had become like a celebrity in Quel’Thalas.
He wasn’t sure if he could handle such fame.
Remembering the powerful demon Azgath, his terrifying appearance, his roar, his unmatched strength… even when his weapon was knocked out of his hand by magic, he could still easily create a crack in the enchanted wall of the Mage Tower, almost bringing the tall tower down directly.
His figure in front of the enemy was like an ant, and when he began to channel The Hand of Gul’dan, the arrogant demon couldn’t be bothered to look his way.
But it was the enemy who was defeated.
Thinking about this, he took a deep breath, calmed himself slightly, and headed towards Malin’s study.
When he entered the room, Malin was looking at the papers on the table with a troubled expression. Hearing the door, she looked up, her tightly furrowed brows relaxing a bit.
Jesse noticed Malin’s expression and asked, "Master…what’s wrong?"
"Why do I feel like these apprentices have gotten dumber after six months of learning?" Malin pursed her lips and said, "By the way, Mr. Seso, here is a letter from Quel’Thalas, sent by Mrs. Vereesa Windrunner to you. Is it a reply from last time?"
Jesse nodded and took the letter that the teacher handed to him, saying, "I came here to get this letter, master."
He weighed the envelope in his hand, feeling it was a bit heavy, there might be something inside.
After thanking the teacher and heading outside, he sat on a chair in the garden and opened the letter, seeing a silver ring fall out from it.
The ring had the shape of an eagle’s head, with delicate feather-like patterns engraved on it, and it had a series of Sayaad Language runes that Jesse did not recognize.
"Jesse.
The Reliquary has two outposts in the south, one in Farstriders’ Enclave in Loch Modan, and one in Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. I think it’s closer for you to go to Booty Bay. There are ships from Stormwind that go straight there, but it’s a chaotic place, so be careful.
To get the Reliquary’s help for free, bring this ring with you. It’s my family crest, they won’t know if it belongs to Sylvanas or me, so make good use of it.
Remember, this is not a gift, make sure to return it to me. If you dare to sell it, the consequences will be severe.
Finally, I wish you and your family can settle down in Stormwind sooner, of course, without selling this ring.
– Vereesa Windrunner."
Jesse saw the last line and felt that his image in Vereesa’s mind had undoubtedly solidified – a greedy human mercenary.
But since the Reliquary is stationed in Booty Bay, they must also be eyeing the artifacts sold by the goblins.
Anyway, Jesse also needs to go to Booty Bay to ask the goblins about Dethmoora Darkeye and gather materials for making robes…
Jesse didn’t really want to go back to Booty Bay, but now it seems that it’s necessary to make another trip.
