Chapter 462: Humans and Elves
The next morning, Jesse went to the place where Malin told him the Elf Mages lived, carrying a letter for Vereesa.
The Wizard’s Sanctum prepared a residence for guests from Quel’Thalas, which was a plain-looking small building. It didn’t look as beautiful as where Malin and the other archmages lived, but now it was just the plain appearance of the building.
The Elf Mages added a special touch to their place. They placed a small Magic Crystal at the very top of the small building, constantly releasing Arcane energy. Living here bathed them in the brilliant light of Arcane all the time, making it clear once they arrived in the alley.
No wonder Malin didn’t give detailed directions. You could easily tell which building it was as soon as you arrived.
However, upon reaching the entrance, Jesse saw a Battle Mage guarding the small building.
Without a mage ring from the Wizard’s Sanctum to prove his identity, he didn’t think the guard would let him in or call for help.
Jesse thought, maybe he should go back and wait for his teacher to bring him his new ring before returning. Just as he was about to turn back, a female elf in a light purple robe hurriedly walked over from the tall tower of the Wizard’s Sanctum.
Jesse glanced at her, and the elf noticed him, raising her eyebrows unconsciously.
Did she know him?
"Excuse me…" Jesse immediately asked when she missed the person passing by, "Are you Master Elsharin?"
"Do you know me?" The Elf Mage asked surprisingly.
"I don’t know you." Jesse politely smiled and said, "I just heard from my teacher that you still live in the Wizard’s Sanctum, one of the few Quel’doraimages left in the Mage Quarter."
"You are Jesse Seso." Elsharin glanced into the distance, then looked back and asked, "I didn’t mistake you, did I? So your teacher is the archmage Eden Malin from the Protection School."
"Yes, that’s me," Jesse nodded.
"Is there anything I can do for you, Mr. Seso?" The elf smiled and asked.
"I want to deliver a letter to Ms. Vereesa." Jesse handed the letter from her bag to the mage and said, "Here it is."
Elsharin took the letter, weighed it in his hand, then looked back and forth, asking, "What does this letter say?"
"Does that really matter?" Jesse awkwardly smiled, then asked, "Do mages need to know the content of a letter in order to help deliver it?"
"No, not at all," Elsharin said, "Captain Alleria Windrunner is in a relationship with a human, General Sylvanas even brought a human into Quel’Thalas, and now their sister, Ms. Vereesa, is also close with a human… Frankly, if there’s anything wrong with the content of this letter, it may very well be intercepted by the Sun King’s messengers."
"I’m not interested in prying into the nobles’ private lives or your feelings, Mr. Seso," Jesse explained. "I just want to help you avoid trouble. If this letter doesn’t touch on those matters, then there shouldn’t be a problem. But if it does, even if I make an effort to help you, there’s a chance it might not reach Ms. Vereesa in the end. I just hope that when that happens, you won’t come looking to blame me."
"It’s just about the Reliquary," Jesse said. "Previously, with Vereesa’s help, I sold some magic-related items to the Reliquary. This time, there’s a lead again, so I wanted to consult her about it."
"Since you put it that way, then I’ll trust you, Mr. Seso," the elf said with a smile. "This letter should arrive in Quel’Thalas this afternoon, and it would take about two more days to reach Ms. Vereesa. So, you’ll have to wait at least a week or so for a reply. Just be patient."
"This is almost too incredible, thank you, Master."
Jesse nodded and watched as Elsharin tucked the letter into his pocket and walked into the courtyard guarded by the Battle Mage.
Returning home at noon, Jesse pushed the door open and said, "Saenor, you’ve got a new job again."
"A new job?!" imp exclaimed, "You’re not bringing back some scary language for me to translate again, are you? My languages are limited, Master! I barely know any Nathrezim or Annihilan! And I know nothing about the Void Shadow language!"
Jesse placed the materials Zardeth had found in the Gakin room on the table and said, "This time, I won’t need you to transcribe the translations, just organize the content using Demonic."
"It’s really frustrating, Master." imp tilted his head and said, "I haven’t figured out the remaining two parts on the scrolls written from Teron Gorefiend’s memories yet, and now you’ve given me so much work. Which one should I start with?"
"These are simpler." Jesse said, "I believe you can finish them in a few days, no rush for the things on that scroll."
Looking sideways at the succubus, he said, "You can also help look at that scroll, Molofeel. Without you, I wouldn’t have learned the Shadow Shield so quickly."
The succubus hesitated and Jesse said, "Sorrel summoned by Zardeth is particularly eager to help the Master organize spell materials. Look at you, backing off when it comes to this."
"Zardeth is very willing to please Miss Sorrel." Molofeel lowered his eyes and then glanced up at Jesse, saying, "But my Master always finds various reasons to push me aside, not willing to please his poor servant. How can I have the energy to serve my Master well?"
"How do you know what Zardeth is usually like with Sorrel?" Jesse asked.
"I ask, and Miss Sorrel answers." Molofeel said softly with a slight smile, "You see, other Masters are dedicated to their servants every day. But what about me? Hearing their stories, I can hardly face Sorrel. If this continues, even other succubus summoned by human warlocks will look down on me, it’s embarrassing."
Jesse sighed, "Are you on the same level as the other succubus, Molofeel? You say Sorrel and Zardeth are dedicated every day, but when I went to Zardeth’s place, I didn’t see him weak and unable to stand."
Holding Jesse’s wrist, Molofeel whispered, "The Master is completely different from those warlocks…"
Reverse PUA is, damn it.
Jesse sighed and said, "Okay, okay, let me rest for a day. I’ve been practicing the recently learned Shadow Bolt spell, it’s been draining a lot of my mana."
The succubus reached into Jesse’s potion pouch and took out a bottle of Mana Potion, saying, "Congratulations, master, um, just drink this…my dear."
"Then why don’t you drink it?" Jesse asked.
Molofeel snorted and put the potion back, while Saenor kept pretending to read a piece of paper, but now couldn’t help but shake.
She immediately yelled over there, "What are you laughing at?"
