Chapter 449: The Uninvited Guest
Jesse entered the room and looked out the window at a few small buildings. In the distance, there was a familiar field that hadn’t changed in years, making him feel a bit empty inside.
The succubus sitting beside him said, "That boss knows you, master, I can sense it…"
"Really?" Jesse nodded and said, "Maybe…"
"During your stay here, you two, if I have time, I will come to see you… to assess the situation. At other times, don’t go out. Keep yourselves busy by studying the remaining two spells, there will be a reward for finding them."
"No problem, master!" imp cheered.
"I have one more question." Jesse looked at Molofeel and asked, "Is there no way in this world to summon a demon from the Twisting Nether anytime you want? I mean, a specific demon, like if I make a special contract with you, or create some unique magical connection… or come up with some special summoning spells to specifically call you and this little toy."
"Hmm." Molofeel nodded and said, "Certainly, master, this is possible, otherwise how else would the Burning Legion summon Azgath at the Storm Altar? But I don’t know how to do it… Perhaps only the highest-ranking members of the Burning Legion, or those responsible for summoning the Eredar Wizards, know the specific methods."
After thinking for a while, Jesse nodded, and imp asked, "Master, do you find us a nuisance?"
"A little bit," he replied.
"Hmm… seems really heartless." Molofeel sighed insincerely.
In the evening, Jesse went to the main street of Brill, planning to buy a new coat.
Since he was going to see his parents tomorrow, the clothes he was wearing had been on a sea voyage and were not washed due to the rough journey. They smelled terrible, and he was worried about being judged when he entered the house.
Luckily, it was still summer, so buying a decent-looking linen shirt would be enough, nothing too fancy.
Jesse found a tailor shop, picked a not-so-noticeable light brown coat, paid with a silver coin, and also bought a new pair of shoes.
Getting rid of the dirty clothes lifted his spirits, and as he walked out and looked at the familiar buildings, town hall, various shops and houses, the trading post with grains and vegetables, the patrollers on horseback and the white-clothed mages following them… it felt like going back to the time before the Orc War erupted.
Let’s wander around and see what changes have happened in Brill since then.
As Jesse walked further, he realized he didn’t really have the leisure to stroll around late at night.
He couldn’t help but think about what Molofeel had mentioned earlier, about demons summoning Azgath with the Storm Altar…
When Kel’Thuzad turned into a lich, he used the Book of Medivh to summon Archimonde and destroy Dalaran. Later on, on Quel’Danas Island, Eredar wizards also used the power of the Sunwell to summon the deceiver Kil’jaeden (although they only managed to summon half of him).
So, summoning a specific demon should not be a problem, the key is the method.
After returning to Stormwind, he should go and see Mor’zul to discuss these kinds of issues.
But thinking about Mor’zul’s plan to summon an unprecedented demon to Azeroth, he got a headache.
After all, there was already one Dark Portal incident.
However, if he wanted Mor’zul to help figure out how to summon a specific demon, he would certainly expect something in return for assisting with the summoning.
Wait, could it be that the demon Mor’zul summoned was a well-known demon with a name and reputation?
At the time, Jesse did not fully understand Mor’zul’s plan, of course, Mor’zul would not reveal too much to someone who wasn’t cooperating with him.
But at this point, Jesse was already getting curious.
He didn’t need to help complete the whole summoning, just needed to understand the process. If Mor’zul seemed close to succeeding, he could cause some accidents to make it fail.
After all, the lengthy and low success rate summoning ritual made it too easy to sabotage without being noticed.
Of course, Jesse couldn’t go to Moonbrook to find Mor’zul alone this time. Besides bringing Saenor and Molofeel for protection, more importantly, he planned to investigate the female warlock in advance to see if he could find some leverage against Mor’zul.
Mor’zul, whom he once admired greatly, helped him learn countless demonic knowledge. Now, he was intrigued by the mysterious female warlock from the rumors.
As he walked and pondered, reaching the outskirts of the town, he saw the iron gates of the Brill Great Mausoleum.
The cemetery had been expanded several times after the war, now looking beautiful like a park, with stone paths replacing the original dirt roads. Flowers were planted in the spaces between the graves, a stark difference from his childhood memories.
This might be where Brill had changed the most.
Jesse strolled to the newly built section of the cemetery, where many heroes who died during the Orc War were buried. Since many didn’t believe they would return home, they were laid to rest here after their deaths, so there were even some names of southern nobles.
He found the beautiful graves marked with the lion emblem of Stormwind, matching the noble surnames he had heard in Stormwind such as Lescovar, Elgadin, etc., to see if any of them belonged to those families.
At that moment, he saw a pretty new tombstone not far away with a little stone statue of a cloaked person holding a long sword.
Jesse curiously walked over and glanced at the words on it, suddenly feeling a ringing in his ears.
Young and brave Battle Mage Jesse Seso rests here, he defeated the demon commander Azgath in front of the Dark Portal and protected Nethergarde and the whole world with the Alliance expeditionary force, unfortunately died from his wounds.
"Only in the darkest chaos can the brightest light shine, you made me believe in this, my dearest friend and companion."
– Vereesa Windrunner, Captain of the Farstriders of Quel’Thalas.
Jesse stared at the last few words for a long time.
Although the tomb in front of him was new, it probably took about a week or two to build, especially with the stone carvings, runes, and the little statue on it.
Thinking about the time that had passed since his "death", almost two months had gone by, even the flowers left here by whoever had completely withered away.
With the dust settled from the Dark Portal, the excitement of victory slowly faded, and the sorrow of losing loved ones and friends gradually eased.
But Jesse always felt like it was just a few days ago…
He rubbed his eyes.
