Chapter 443: The Mysterious Target
Walking to the upper level of the corridor, Jesse could already hear occasional screams coming from the ship.
He wondered how many Naga had climbed onto this ship.
However, there also seemed to be sounds of resistance. Before boarding the ship, he saw some armed individuals on board, possibly mercenaries and guards, or even passengers. Nevertheless, quite a few people on the ship had some self-defense capabilities.
Not to mention that many sailors on this ship were tall and sturdy Kul Tiras islanders. These guys were generally taller than ordinary people on the mainland, growing up to six to seven feet tall was not uncommon.
He rushed to the deck following the instructions of the sailor just now, and halfway there, suddenly a dark figure sneaked in through the window.
This dark figure was incredibly tall and strong, feeling like its head was about to touch the ceiling.
The figure charged straight at Jesse upon arrival, wielding a sharp blade and swinging it fiercely towards Jesse. Jesse raised the magical sword and deflected it aside, narrowly avoiding being struck in the chest by the figure.
Without hesitation, the dark figure swung again. This time, Jesse forcefully clashed with him using the magical sword, feeling like being hit by a hammer, almost losing footing. But this time, the Azuresong Mageblade left a large glowing blue gap on the dark figure’s blade, visibly making the opponent more cautious, retreating a bit.
In the light of the Azuresong Mageblade, the monstrous creature in front lifted its lizard-like head arrogantly, muscles tense all over, covered in layers of black spiky scales, with fins on its head standing up like a high crown.
This was a male Naga, naturally born warriors and vanguards in the Naga world dominated by females. Compared to females, they were more reckless, violent, and bloodthirsty.
The Naga held a cleaver, staring at Jesse in front of it, perhaps sensing that Jesse’s strength was not like that of a typical human, starting to feel wary.
"That sword is mine," murmured the Naga, its thick lips forming words that sounded like sawing wood, making people uncomfortable.
"Are you immune to fear?" Jesse asked.
"What?" Naga asked.
"Fereckert…"
Upon hearing this spell, Naga immediately froze, stepped back, and then tried to turn and run!
Jesse didn’t give him the chance, rushed forward, and stabbed Naga under the jaw, the sword tip piercing through Naga’s forehead, he then skillfully pulled the sword out with both hands.
Naga howled, rolling on the ground wildly thrashing his tail back and forth, spurting torrents of blood everywhere, his huge body shattering the entire passage into debris.
Having fought face to face with the Demon Guard of the Burning Legion, a male Naga was nothing for him, at least couldn’t overpower him in momentum. If Jesse hadn’t been to the Blasted Lands and encountered such a giant monster alone, he might have hesitated a bit more.
Of course, the opponent was quite strong, Jesse found it quite difficult to withstand his strikes.
Jesse shook his sword, flicking off the dirty blood mixed with seawater and continued forward, from the hatch to the uppermost part, the deck was already in chaos, a group of sailors and passengers fighting the Naga with their weapons, it was a struggle for two to three people to besiege one.
A sailor in front was knocked down by a Naga who was about to spear his chest!
Jesse blocked his attack with a sword and then dodged Naga’s spear. He broke the tip of the spear, surprised Naga, and struck him in the chest with full force. Naga coughed violently and fell to the ground.
Jesse, holding the Azuresong Mageblade, went up the steps in the rain. He stabbed a Naga from behind, then chopped off a large lizard’s head.
The two people were shocked by Jesse’s strength, but it was actually the powerful magic of the Azuresong Mageblade.
After defeating another Naga, Jesse wiped the rain off his face. Suddenly, he sensed a sharp magic above him. He recognized the feeling from fighting with Vereesa – it was the trajectory of an enchanted arrow!
He instinctively stepped aside as an arrow with Arcane magic flew past him and landed by his feet.
Putting out the flames on his hair, he looked up and saw a figure standing high on the mast aiming at him with a bow.
Naga Siren…
How did she climb up there?
Naga aimed again, gathering Arcane energy on the arrow, directly towards him!
Jesse reached out his hand, urging the familiar dark power from the past to flow.
This time, the intense pain that came with releasing this power last time still vividly recalled, tearing at his insides.
In the dark night, a blurry blood-red line flashed, and Naga Siren shouted in surprise as she was pulled from the mast, her Arcane arrow uncontrollably flying into the sky.
Jesse raised his sword to stab the woman directly, but Naga suddenly disappeared in a flash of light as she was dragged in front of him, becoming invisible.
This was not a fading technique… so it could only be… Blink Spell.
Jesse skillfully turned around and threw his sword, Azuresong Mageblade casting a blue magical shadow that struck Naga Siren in the face.
The sea monster still shimmered with Arcane brilliance all around her, her Blink Spell energy not yet vanished, as she stood proudly at the bow staring at Jesse pulling his bowstring, a smile on her face, but the blade had already pierced her skull.
She fell backward into the sea, and Jesse reached out, a blood-red magical thread pulling Azuresong Mageblade back into his grip tightly.
Looking at the vast endless dark sea outside, he quietly thought to himself that he would never throw this sword like that again next time.
Back on the deck, Naga had already started to retreat, only two male Naga who couldn’t break free from the fight were still wrestling in a corner, surrounded by a few sailors who were trying to stop them.
The captain arrived in front of everyone carrying a blood-stained long sword, panting heavily, and shouted, "Thank you all for your efforts and sacrifices… To all who came to the deck to help us fend off the Naga, please leave your names for later, I will give you half of the fare back as a token of gratitude when you disembark!"
Half of the fare back?
Twenty silver coins…
Jesse looked at the bodies of the Naga on the ground, thinking that just scraping off their scales could fetch a good amount of money from the sailors.
Many of the Naga here were male, their scales were larger and tougher, and they had stronger resistance to magic. These scales were more suitable for making armor compared to the scales of female Naga, they were more practical and also more expensive.
Despite this, Jesse still registered "Jurke" in the ship’s log inside the cabin. He rolled up his sleeve and showed the scar on his arm torn by the power of darkness, as requested by the person registering the names.
The person looked puzzled for a moment, then wrote it down in the notebook.
When leaving the cabin, Jesse noticed a Kul Tiran in a gray robe watching him.
He was wearing a badge that Jesse didn’t recognize on his hand, he seemed to have seen this ring at the Orc meeting in Dalaran before, on the hands of those Kul Tiran Mages.
Of course, he couldn’t be sure if his memory was wrong, but the sailor who came to inform him before mentioned that the captain had a mage advisor, and now that person was standing behind the captain, so he should be correct.
Has he discovered his Shadow Magic?
Regardless of whether he has discovered it or not, Jesse doesn’t really care.
Report to Lordaeron, or the Kingdom of Stormwind, Dalaran, report to whoever you want to report to… Tell them that he is Jurke, a strange warlock who is skinny, eerie, covered in wounds, and smells of demons.
Jesse politely smiled at him and walked back into the corridor, leaving the deck.
Molofeel was smiling, tilting his head and gazing at himself as he pushed open the door.
"Master… hurry…"
Jesse closed the door, but saw a light purple box next to the succubus containing Living Ice Crystals.
Why did the Naga attack the boat?
Are they interested in ordinary goods, or the gold and silver coins carried by these passengers?
There are rarely heard direct attacks by the Naga on ships at sea. Jesse has taken many boat trips, and has only occasionally heard rumors, mostly about them trying to steal magical treasures on the ships.
So, compared to regular merchant ships, ships owned by magical institutions like Kirin Tor and Wizard’s Sanctum are more cautious around the Naga.
Could it be that his Living Ice Crystals attracted the Naga?
It’s impossible. The jewelry box given to him by Kirin Tor has a special effect that blocks Arcane energy. At this distance, he can no longer feel the magic emanating from the Living Ice Crystals.
Can the Naga sense the power that he cannot feel?
"Master?" Molofeel rubbed against him and said, "What are you hesitating about…"
"Can you feel the power of that treasure, Molofeel?" Jesse asked.
"Do you mean this?" Molofeel squinted at the box, it was clear she didn’t like it. Demons like to consume Arcane magic, but it seems they don’t like all types of Arcane, as the power emanating from the Living Ice Crystals was repulsive to Molofeel and Saenor from the start.
Saenor sighed and said, "What a shameless mage, twisting the wonderful Arcane energy into such a foolish form… What a waste, master!"
Jesse impatiently asked, "I didn’t ask you about these Arcane things, I just want to know if you can sense its presence inside this box?"
"Not at all," imp replied, "The Kirin Tor must be good at making things, this magic-sealing box must be very valuable!"
Jesse nodded, thinking his feelings towards Arcane couldn’t be so far off.
So, it was something else on the ship that attracted the Naga.
What could it be?
At that moment, Molofeel reached out, one hand wrapping around his neck, the other holding Jesse’s hand and guiding it under herself.
"Master… can’t you feel how much pain I’m in?"
Jesse took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I’ll think about it tomorrow," he decided. "After all, what happened earlier isn’t finished yet."
