Chapter 438: The Time of Gathering and Parting
After bringing Vereesa back to the elven soldiers near Quel’Thalas, Jesse and Greed sat on the hillside outside for a while.
A guard holding a sword and a shield walked past the two of them. Greed stared at the group of elves as they gradually walked away, then asked, "Jesse, where do you plan to go next?"
"Of course, I’ll go back to Stormwind first," Jesse said. "Then, I plan to visit Lordaeron. I wonder if my parents know about this."
Greed suddenly looked more alert and said, "If they hear about what’s happening here…"
Jesse rubbed his face and said, "That’s right, so I need to leave soon. With this gem, I think I’ll probably leave Nethergarde tomorrow or the day after. It usually takes about a month to travel back to Lordaeron from here."
"Tell that elf," Greed said, "to have a mage go to Lordaeron first to inform your parents. Isn’t her sister the Ranger-General? She will definitely help you."
"Have a mage teleport over?" Jesse scratched his head and said, "That might be too complicated, but she could probably send a letter for me instead."
Greed nodded and said, "You’re right. Ugh, I shouldn’t have rushed to make her faint tonight."
"I’ll come back to see her tomorrow," Jesse said.
"And what about you, what are you planning to do next?"
"I plan to stay here and continue fighting demons, Jesse," the dwarf said. "It’s been so long since I had the chance to live with such a large group of gryphons and knights, it feels like those days when I fought Forest Trolls, and I can train here too. The only downside is the lack of rewards, but at least I have free food and drink here…"
Jesse said, "Remember to find me back in Stormwind after that, I should be able to return in about a month. Take care of yourself, Greed."
"Are you kidding?" Greed stared and patted his chest, saying, "Who can hurt me in this miserable place?! Who else?!"
After finally getting rid of Greed’s drunken and endless nonsense, Jesse returned home. That night, Jesse didn’t sleep as soundly as before.
Feeling so miserable from the previous days’ injuries, Jesse wanted to leave Nethergarde, but he didn’t have the means to. However, today he was feeling much better because of the gem, so he couldn’t stay calm in the Blasted Lands anymore, only thinking of leaving as soon as possible.
At least he had to let his parents know he was still around sooner.
In the morning, Jesse arrived at the entrance of Quel’Thalas’ residence. Facing the expressionless guard holding a long spear, he said, "Hello, I’m looking for Mrs. Vereesa Windrunner…"
The elf guard gestured to a small door under a nearby city wall and, with a heavy accent, said, "Ms. Vereesa is in the small building on the west side."
Jesse looked at him strangely, wondering why he was allowed in without any questions.
"Wishing you a speedy recovery, Mr. Jesse Seso," the elf added.
After hearing this, Jesse paused for a moment and then said, "Thank you."
According to Malin, when she was receiving treatment, she stayed for a long time with the botanist in Quel’Thalas. Maybe many elves here know her.
Jesse followed the guard’s direction and walked towards the small building. The entire territory of Quel’Thalas was filled with elves, making him feel a bit uneasy. However, the elves seemed not to mind a human walking around here.
The door of the small building was slightly ajar. After Jesse entered, he discovered that it was a pharmacy for storing magic potions. Vereesa was sitting by the window, holding a bottle of transparent potion that was half empty.
Hearing the door creak, the elf turned around and saw Jesse, raising her long eyebrows in surprise.
"How did you come here? Is your body okay?"
"At least I had no problem getting here." Jesse said, glancing at the bottle Vereesa was holding, and asked, "What is that?"
"It’s a potion made from blackmouth oil and thorn algae, which can help cure a hangover." Vereesa said, "I shouldn’t have drunk so much yesterday, but that dwarf was just too arrogant. But, he indeed has the right to be arrogant."
Jesse said, "Actually, he was also quite drunk. If you persist a little longer, he probably won’t last."
Vereesa drank some potion and whispered, "Sometimes winning or losing in a competition is just a tiny difference, this time I give up."
"That guy would be so thrilled if he heard you say that,"
"Let him be happy then."
Jesse smiled and said, "Actually, I have something to ask for your help, Vereesa."
Vereesa nodded and said, "Go ahead, Jesse."
Jesse said, "It’s been a long time since I went back to Lordaeron. I am worried that my parents will know that I am in trouble. So, could you please ask a mage to use magic to deliver a letter first? Even if I find a gryphon to take me back to Lordaeron, it may take many days."
Vereesa said, "Your father is Vickers Mr. Seso, right?"
Jesse nodded and asked, "How did you know?"
"Don’t worry, Jesse," Vereesa said. "Sylvanas has already asked the mage in Lordaeron, Quel’doraimage, to inform your father beforehand. How could they not be informed of such matters in advance?"
Upon hearing that, Jesse let out a big sigh of relief.
"Thank you so much for helping me out, it’s a big favor. Please also thank the Ranger-General for me. But, I still need to go back on my own, probably tomorrow… I will be leaving Nethergarde, but at least I am not in such a hurry now."
"Oh, I will be returning to Quel’Thalas soon," Vereesa said. "I must go back to the Evergreen Forest to help defend against possible troll attacks. I need to make sure they won’t cause any trouble."
Jesse said, "After all, you are one of the strongest rangers in the Farstriders."
"Just wait and see, soon I won’t be ‘one of’ anymore," Vereesa said, as she turned a square bottle in her hand. "I will definitely surpass Sylvanas."
With that, she let out a sigh and said softly, "But we will be apart again."
Jesse chuckled and said, "We will definitely meet again."
"Of course!" Vereesa excitedly tapped the table and said, "And when I go back this time, I will practice holding my liquor. I can’t let that Gryphon Rider be so smug next time we meet, that darn guy… Oh, please don’t tell him. Next time, we will go to Thelsamar, Jesse, the place you mentioned last time, Loch Modan!"
