Chapter 435: The Relic of the Council of Tirisfal
The next morning, Jesse sat up in bed.
After a night of rest, he felt that his body was getting better again.
At least he didn’t need to hold onto something to support himself when getting out of bed and walking around.
He tried to do a push-up on the floor, but his muscles suddenly felt like they were being torn and he ended up lying on the floor in pain, just when someone knocked on the door.
"Jesse?"
It was Amy’s voice.
Jesse quickly got up, brushed off the dust from his body, and opened the door.
"Good morning, Amy."
"It’s almost noon," Amy smiled and asked, "How are you feeling?"
"Much better today." Jesse lightly jumped a bit, trying not to show any signs of pain and said, "At least much better than yesterday."
"I knew you would recover quickly," Amy said. "I came to tell you that a Dalaran mage is looking for you downstairs. Don’t worry, it’s nothing bad."
Jesse said, "Really? I heard the Kirin Tor wants to give me something. I will go down now and put on my coat…"
"They want to give you something?" Amy paused for a moment, then asked, "What is it?"
Jesse took out his coat from the wardrobe and said, "I don’t know either, let’s go see!"
The two of them went downstairs to a hall, where the Dalaran messenger was already waiting, and in front of him on the table was an exquisite box.
"Master," Jesse nodded to the blonde mage.
"Are you Mr. Jesse Seso?"
"Yes."
"Mr. Seso," the mage straightened his chest and said, "I am Alvareaux, an official mage from Dalaran."
Jesse nodded and said, "Mr. Alvareaux."
The mage Alvareaux continued, "I have heard about everything that happened in Nethergarde a month ago. First and foremost, I must express my respect to you. My wife is also fighting against the demons of the Burning Legion. You may not have heard of her, but you are undoubtedly her savior."
"So the Kirin Tor needed a messenger to bring this gift here, and I volunteered to take on this task immediately."
"The contents of this box have a history of over a thousand years, Mr. Seso," Alvareaux took a deep breath and said, "Now, the Kirin Tor has entrusted it to you."
The Dalaran mage opened the box, and Jesse saw a crystalline structure inside, resembling a block of ice.
What is this?
Jesse’s mind searched through his knowledge, but he couldn’t recall anything famous related to the Council of Tirisfal.
After all, this council had ceased to exist many years ago. Following Medivh’s betrayal, the remaining members who could claim to be part of the Council of Tirisfal were also tragically killed. By the start of the game’s timeline, this organization had completely dispersed.
"These are Living Ice Crystals," Alvareaux explained. "You may have heard of the Dragon Hunt eight hundred years ago when Guardian Aegwynn defeated the Demon Lord who tried to invade Northrend…"
"This is part of the magical jewelry she was wearing at the time…"
"’Part?’ Jesse asked."
"The Demon Lord shattered Aegwynn’s ice gem, but the largest piece was found and made into this amulet."
"After betraying the Council of Tirisfal, Aegwynn stole many precious treasures, some of which were recovered by the council’s hunters, and this is one of them."
"Wow," Amy couldn’t help but exclaim.
Jesse was even more amazed.
He was completely stunned.
That Demon Lord was none other than Sargeras’ incarnation. This was something shattered by the dark Titan Sargeras?
Apart from the Council of Tirisfal and the Kirin Tor, there were not many people in the world who knew that the demon king who came out of the Dark Portal in Northrend was the incarnation of the dark Titan Sargeras. Of course, even Aegwynn herself was unaware of this when facing him, otherwise she might not have been so confident in rushing to battle.
Alvareaux continued, "You defeated the demon lord Azgath, Mr. Seso. The remaining demons in this world must hate you greatly… The icy power in this amulet can purify a person’s soul, helping the wearer resist the Shadow Magic of demons and mental disorders. Although it has been through heavy damage, its core magic has not been lost too much."
Jesse knew that Kirin Tor was more worried about being manipulated by demons to do unimaginable things.
"Can I take it now?"
"Of course," the mage said. "It’s already yours."
Jesse nodded, took the talisman out of the box, held it in his hand, and immediately felt the cool energy of the gem seeping into his palm. It calmed his mind gradually, and the wounds left by the dark power were not as painful anymore.
"Where are the other parts of this gem now?" Amy asked curiously. "Are they still with Lady Aegwynn?"
"No one knows," the mage said. "In theory, they should have scattered into the frozen soil of Northrend. As far as I know, Aegwynn couldn’t retrieve the other parts at that time. Perhaps it was her lie after all, as it was not originally her treasure but was given to her by the Council of Tirisfal to assist her in hunting demons in Northrend. Maybe she had intended to keep these treasures for herself and losing them in Northrend was just an excuse."
Jesse said, "This is truly a precious treasure, Master. I hope you thank Kirin Tor for their kindness on my behalf. I also appreciate you bringing it all the way here."
"You are very polite," the mage said. "Since the item has been delivered, I must now proceed to Dreadmaul Keep. I won’t delay your rest any longer. I hope you recover soon, Mr. Seso."
"Thank you…" Jesse and Amy nodded, mage bowed gently and hurriedly left the building, leaving two people staring blankly at the thing.
"So Aegwynn really lived for eight hundred years," Amy said.
Jesse glanced at her and said, "Are you still doubting this?"
"Okay, now I don’t doubt it anymore."
Amy said, "I have also learned that many powerful mages live longer than ordinary people. Aegwynn took away the power of many Tirisfal archmages hundreds of years ago to become a Guardian. Her living for a few hundred years…it’s not that hard to understand."
"It’s really hard to imagine that this gem was once used by her, and it was eight hundred years ago." She asked cautiously, "Can I take a look at it?"
Jesse handed the talisman to Amy, who shivered slightly when she held it in her hand.
"Take good care of it, Jesse." She handed the ice crystal back, saying, "Certainly, many mages studying ice magic would go to great lengths to get their hands on this…"
