Chapter 395: Finally Making Progress

After leaving the spider ambush in the forest and walking back, after a few hours the sky had darkened again. After searching the forest for most of the day, by evening he was still a bit tired.

However, Jesse felt that this time should be almost ready, with a pure Soul Shard. If that wasn’t enough, he could find another unlucky person with Molofeel in the forest.

Next, he just needed to rest fully and try again.

After sleeping in a quiet spot, he woke up the next morning, ate the remaining food in his pocket to fill his stomach. If it still didn’t work this time, he planned to return to Goldshire to rest.

With a full spirit, this time he found an old tree broken for some unknown reason in a clearing in the forest as the target for his spell, holding a Soul Shard in one hand and raising his magic wand in the other, focusing his mind, feeling loneliness… and hatred.

It must be said that the time he spent preparing this time was much longer than when he tried on the first night.

He recalled more details from that time, searched for more emotions from that time, and finally found a similar feeling.

After all, he had been thinking about these memories too many times these two days.

When he finally felt ready, he started reciting the spell again.

"Sawyer…" This spell had become very familiar to him, he could recite it unconsciously, allowing him to continue brewing emotions, experiencing the feelings in the memories, closing his eyes, feeling the Shadow Power gathering in response to the spell, slowly rising into the air. The next step was to sacrifice the Soul Shard.

"Avarus…" He continued reciting, raising the Soul Shard high, the shadowy serpent began to take shape, swirling around the magic wand aimed far away, everything was going smoothly.

Moreover, the mana consumption was still within manageable limits, Jesse could continue reciting.

He decided not to think about mana anymore, he needed to focus on completing the spell. Despite what many had said about his talent in shadow magic, this time he felt a bit out of control.

"Antalya…"

Jesse kept reciting, gently waving the magic wand, the gem of Gorefiend sparkled, the shadowy serpent began to gather in the direction it pointed, intertwining in the middle. This was the most critical moment, he had failed at this stage before.

At this point, the Soul Shard had dimmed.

It worked!

"Manuel Leroy…"

Jesse kept chanting, the dark serpents in the sky seemed to be bound by a force, then all the shadows seemed to ignite and release billowing purple smoke, is this the power of souls?

But as the burning grew fiercer, Jesse started to feel overwhelmed, the power of the shadows became more and more frantic, more and more chaotic.

Jesse gathered her strength and shouted the last incantation, "Wilma!"

The shadows did not fall like a shooting star as he expected, instead, they slowly disintegrated in the air…

Something must have gone wrong…

Is the power of the soul insufficient?

Or is he running out of energy…

Jesse didn’t think much, it worked hard to shape the shadow and couldn’t distract attention.

The Soul Shard in his hand completely broke into powerless powder, he decisively pulled out the Azuresong Mageblade pointing towards the sky, and the magical light instantly illuminated the forest!

Then he placed the Azuresong Mageblade on the magic wand. The shadow group that was disintegrating in the sky suddenly burst into flames, roaring loudly and radiating exploding shadow fragments around, causing an explosion where it landed.

Jesse stared at the fierce shadow and shouted, "Wilma!"

The Azuresong Mageblade seemed to add fuel to the magic, causing the shadow group to emit a sharp sound, rotating and pushing towards the direction pointed by Jesse’s magic wand. It struggled, deformed in the air, resembling a dense swarm of black flies, the thick claws of an evil dragon, and raging violent specters!

He quickly aimed the magic wand at an old tree he had targeted. The shadow group drew an arc in the air, breaking through the canopy and hitting the old tree at its break!

The dark purple flame exploded violently, a wave of shadow energy rippled out, causing the grass within a dozen meters to visibly wither and turn yellow, deteriorating into purple scorched earth nearby!

The black fire surged from the ground to the sky, the flames and shadow smoke completely engulfed the tree’s shadow. In the smoke, eerie screams and roars could be heard, snake-like shadows writhing and struggling, before collapsing.

Jesse watched in a daze as the smoke grew darker and the purple flames gradually disappeared after a while.

The ground looked like it had been torn apart, covered in purple cracks still spewing purple flames. The tree was left in purple pieces, with some sparks of purple fire, unrecognizable from before.

He suddenly felt itchy on his cheeks, neck, and exposed skin, getting worse and worse.

After drinking the Shadow Protection Potion, he felt some relief from the dark corruption, but still felt quite uncomfortable.

Feeling exhausted, he could barely stand and had to lean against a tree to sit down.

The tree had been badly damaged by the shadow shockwave earlier, and with just a touch, its leaves started falling off like in autumn.

Then, he drank a Mana Potion to restore his energy, allowing him to maintain some clarity and magic power to stay sane.

"Master, these Shadowflames are summoned from the Twisting Nether," Imp said. "It’s terrifying! Only Eredar could come up with such a dreadful method!"

"This shows that the Shadow Power from beyond the Twisting Nether is no longer satisfying their desire for destruction," Molofeel said. "After joining the Burning Legion, Eredar are more interested in devastation and violence than anything else."

This is indeed The Hand of Gul’dan, but two demons are certain that this spell bears the mark of the Eredar. Perhaps Gul’dan completed it under the guidance of the deceiver Kil’jaeden.

However, Gul’dan also has a reason for not caring about mana consumption.

He once captured almost all the power of Draenor, held the souls of thousands of Draenei prisoners, freely wielded near endless dark power, far more confident than the average Eredar Wizard.

But in the aftermath of the explosion, no new demons were born.

Perhaps no demon was attracted to this fragile Soul Shard, perhaps his own power was not enough to tear open a large enough gateway between the Twisting Nether and Azeroth for demon souls to pass through, perhaps the demons were too weak and died upon arriving in this world during the bombardment of shadows.

It should be said… he still has a ways to go before the magic can succeed completely.

He looked at the visible shadow scars all around him. Not to mention Stormwind, even in Elwynn Forest, it would be impossible to replicate. It was the right choice to promptly move to practice in a different place after becoming familiar with the incantations.
