Chapter 389: The New Summoner

Mor’zul was crazy about a woman?

Jesse couldn’t remember if there was a similar story in the game, but either way, Erlan’s clues were crucial. This female warlock might know a lot of Mor’zul’s secrets.

Considering that the female warlock’s existence is a secret itself, it’s difficult to say which is harder: finding her or uncovering the secrets of the demon knowledge like Mor’zul.

Whether Zardeth knows or not, right now he can’t even see Zardeth in person, so he’ll have to wait for the gathering in a few days.

In the following days, Jesse familiarized himself with the spells cast by imps and succubus, while actively participating in runic and dragon language classes.

Fortunately, he had a good foundation in runic studies, so the following lessons were about different writing techniques, not too closely related, and he could keep up. However, the dragon language already put him ahead of his classmates.

As for the Orcish language, he still belonged to the group with the highest level in the class, after all, during this period he quickly expanded his vocabulary by studying Demonic materials translated by imps and comparing them with original Orcish and Demonic bilingual books.

As for that spell, Jesse tried reciting it a few times on an empty space in Elwynn Forest at night. He clearly felt that this spell was not a simple magic that could be activated just by reciting it. It could harness a quite terrifying power of shadows. He even felt a strange resonance with some other power, but lacked a stronger guidance.

Looking at the lush trees in the summer night, he felt he couldn’t experiment here. If he wanted to try, it would be best to go to Duskwood, preferably near the large cemetery, where there were corpses and a plague of undeath, and the trees were half-dead, or go to the north of Redridge.

In case it was a magic similar to the wrath of shadow, causing destruction or withering of large areas of plants, and even leaking and spreading of the power of shadows, affecting the forest’s ecology on one hand, and more likely to attract the attention of the Wizard’s Sanctum for him personally.

Last time, when he and Molofeel blew up a big pit in the forest, it was because ultimately the fire element was more fierce, seeming more like an explosion caused by a fire.

Since there were mischievous Kobolds who liked playing with fire in that area, it did not attract too much attention in the end.

But this time, he could not take similar risks anymore. He must find a place where there were not many living creatures to conduct his experiments.

Mor’zul was right. Although life was more convenient in Stormwind, it did affect further research and testing. Perhaps Jesse should follow his advice and find an abandoned house outside to live in.

But then he wouldn’t be able to communicate with the warlocks in Stormwind anytime.

Buying an abandoned cottage far from the settlement, or an unused cabin in the woods as Greed suggested, would cost a lot to renovate compared to hiring someone in Stormwind to fix it up. In short, it was a lot of money.

It might not be a good idea to make such plans before bringing his parents over to a house in Stormwind. It’s really hard to save gold coins.

When it was time Erlan had arranged with the others, Jesse arrived at the basement on time that afternoon. Zardeth and Ursula were already waiting in the hall when he got there.

"Jesse," Zardeth said. "Long time no see. Where did you get the Felhunter incantation from?"

He still looked the same as before, with no visible changes from spending so much time with the succubus.

"It’s not a normal way."

Jesse raised his eyebrows and smiled as Zardeth stopped asking.

"Did Erlan tell you about my idea?"

"Yes," Zardeth replied, "having Ursula summon the Felhound for the first time seems fitting. She summoned the Imp smoothly, which shows that Ursula… It’s just a lack of confidence on your part."

Ursula leaned back in her chair, hugging her arms, and said, "I’ll do my best not to disappoint both of you."

"Taming a Felhunter is quite special, Ursula," Jesse explained, "since Felhunters cannot speak, they cannot tell you their true names. I also doubt if demons like Felhounds even have an inherent true name."

"Based on this summoning ritual I have acquired, the way to make it recognize you as its master is to imprint a magical seal on it using the method of a Pit Lord, it’s like a naming ceremony. You need to think of a name now and translate it into Annihilan, the language of the Pit Lords. There aren’t many options here, as apart from Pit Lords and Felhounds, there are hardly any other beings who know this language. There are only about a dozen choices here…"

Jesse handed Ursula a page with dozens of Annihilan words, their translations in common language, and pronunciation guides. Ursula looked at it and said, "I’ll choose this one, sticky venom, it should be pronounced as – Basadre."

Jesse said, "That’s the one then, later on, follow the incantation on this page, along with the name you gave it, and engrave the inscription on its soul using Shadow Power."

"That sounds complicated," Ursula sighed.

Jesse remembered Mor’zul’s performance in the courtyard, how the Felhunter immediately recognized him as its master while others had to go through a complicated process. It was truly a natural affinity with demons.

"We will help you control the Felhunter, Ursula," he said. "Take your time to try, and bring some Mana Potions with you."

"If it doesn’t work out, we can always kill it, let Erlan sell it, and there will be no loss in the end. I have enough Soulstones to summon a Felhound, so don’t feel pressured."

"Understood, Jesse," Ursula said.

Zardeth looked at the basement door and said, "While those two haven’t arrived yet, let me tell you what I’ve been up to, Jesse."

"I don’t know if you’ve ever seen an Orc Warlock, Jesse. Their attire may not be as elegant as a mage’s robe, but they possess enchantments that strengthen their connection with demons or enhance their Shadow Magic, fire spells, similar to the enchanted robes that your Wizard’s Sanctum mages wear to boost their Arcane abilities."

As Zardeth spoke, Jesse remembered the elven robe Larson had praised, only to be taken away by a black dragon in the ruins of Thaurissan.

"I’ve been looking for a tailor willing to collaborate with us," Zardeth continued. "This person needs experience making magical robes and understanding the secrecy of our profession."

"Do you already have a goal in mind?" Jesse asked.

"Almost, I am in discussion," Zardeth replied.
