Chapter 388: Mor’zul’s Past

In the morning, Jesse washed his dirty clothes, hung them out to dry, changed into a thin shirt, and carried the Felhunter summoning spell he got from Mor’zul to The Slaughtered Lamb Inn.

The clothes he wore last summer didn’t survive this winter, either dying in Lordaeron or falling into the hands of demons near Stormwind. With the weather getting warmer, he needed to buy some new summer clothes.

Besides buying new daily essentials, he also thought about how to explain the situation to Zardeth.

Zardeth definitely wouldn’t want himself to be associated with Mor’zul. Of course, he could always say he got the spell from an undisclosed source, after all, Zardeth said the succubus spell the same way.

"Mr. Seso!"

Passing by The Blue Recluse, Malin suddenly appeared from somewhere, holding a baguette and asked, "Have you delivered the documents I gave you last time? Try not to delay too long."

"I have delivered the message, Master," said Jesse.

"So soon?" Malin raised an eyebrow and said, "That’s fine, thank you for your hard work."

Jesse added, "However, the candidate for mayor came to Stormwind to visit his family when I went, so I didn’t give it to him personally, but to his servant."

Malin asked, "Has Mr. Cooper not been elected as mayor yet? I remember there weren’t many candidates there, thought he would have been elected by now. It’s fine to give it to his servant, Jesse. He is a businessman, and he will be busier with the affairs of Moonbrook. He came to Stormwind not just to visit family, but also to find new teachers for the new school in Moonbrook."

Hearing Malin’s words, Jesse suddenly thought of the "famous" teacher in Moonbrook in the game – the legendary Mr. Staven Mistletoe.

I wonder if he has come from Silverpine to the Kingdom of Stormwind now, or has he already gone to Moonbrook to be a teacher?

Jesse nodded and asked, "Is there anything else you need me to do, Master?"

Malin walked up and said, "Not at the moment, Jesse. Perhaps there will be new information from Redridge soon. The king is investigating the activities of the Dragon Cult, and we need to provide assistance to the royal mage advisors at any time. During this time, you can try to continue listening to lectures, listen to as much as you can understand."

"I will do my best…"

After saying goodbye to Old Malin, they walked towards the tavern. Jarel gave them a piece of bread. When they entered the basement, they discovered that Zardeth, Ursula, and Surena were nowhere to be found.

It made sense that Zardeth wasn’t there. Surena had mentioned to him before that Zardeth had been coming less often ever since he summoned the succubus.

He didn’t think Zardeth would be spending all his time with the succubus. He must be busy with other things.

It was unusual that there was no activity in the Alchemy Room. It was rare.

Just as he was planning to ask Jarel about the others, he heard whispers coming from the practice room. Curiously, he went to see Erlan practicing spells there.

"What are you practicing? Why aren’t you hiring someone to be your target?"

"Jesse," Erlan glanced over and said, "I’m practicing Summon Imp. I just can’t seem to find the right feeling. It’s strange."

Jesse leaned in and said, "Summoning magic is about connection, Erlan. You need to communicate with something far away. An imp’s power isn’t that strong. Even if you’re inexperienced, I think you’ll soon find that feeling."

"Many warlocks in Moonbrook seem to be able to Summon Imp. You should be able to do it too."

"When you say that…" Erlan said, "I shouldn’t have lost to those guys… They showed me their imp, damn it. Most importantly, Ursula succeeded too… And Surena could have summoned a long time ago, she just didn’t like always hanging out with a demon. Looking at it this way, I’m the last one to join here."

"Actually, Zardeth has told me something similar, Jesse, but I just don’t know how it feels. Can you be more specific?"

Jesse looked at him for a moment, then said, "It feels like encountering something very distant, not exactly distant, but hard to judge the distance… It’s like building a bridge in the mind."

"When you feel that bridge, remember to use the spell to bring the person on the other side over, Erlan."

"I almost understand, I’ll try again."

Jesse nodded and asked, "Has Zardeth come by recently?"

"He did, he came the day before yesterday. Are you looking for him?" Erlan asked.

"I’ve obtained a new demon summoning spell, and all the casting gestures and taming points for that demon are here." Jesse clapped the folder in his hand and said, "I want to have a meeting with everyone and then announce this spell to everyone."

"What new demon?" Erlan asked with curiosity.

"Felhunter, have you seen this kind of demon before?"

"I have seen them alive," Erlan said. "When the Ogres took over Stormwind, many Ogrewarlocks with Felhunters searched for mages lurking around to disrupt their actions. Do you have the spell to summon such a monster?"

Jesse nodded.

"You’re quite something," Erlan said, leaning in and lightly bumping his shoulder. "Hey, are you planning to have Ms. Molofeel come and watch us summon this time?"

"She will definitely come. I will make sure there are no mistakes and the summoner is not harmed," Jesse said, looking at him with a half-smile. "Why, do you need to see her for something?"

"Nothing important," Erlan chuckled. "Don’t tell Zardeth I said this, but your lady friend is much prettier than his, I can’t wait to see her again."

"I suggest you focus your unreleased energy on normal women," Jesse said expressionless. "It would benefit you."

"You’re not happy when I compliment your Molofeel?" Erlan leaned against the wall, glanced at the paper with spells written on it, sighed. "I wonder if I can summon one that’s almost as pretty. I have no patience to practice Summon Imp anymore…"

"If you can’t summon an imp, don’t even think about a succubus, Mr. Drudgemoor," Jesse side-eyed him. "Let’s talk more about the Felhound issue. This time, I don’t want to be the first to summon, and if I may say so, Zardeth may not be the most suitable. I prefer it to be Surena or Ursula to summon the Felhunter."

"Why?" asked Erlan.

Jesse explained, "Felhounds can’t turn invisible like succubus, so it can only stay in the basement. The first Felhunter, I hope it can be our guard here. Just relying on the disguise from the tavern outside and Mr. Moor’s cover-up, isn’t it too risky?"

Jesse continued, "Felhunters can deal with mages by draining their magic to make them faint, and they are very good at hiding from a mage’s detection. I think having such a demon protect our basement is the best idea."

"Gakin set up some magic runes in front of the door before… but I suppose they weren’t very useful," Erlan said. "Your point makes sense, but why summon both of them?" Jesse explained, "You, me, and Zardeth don’t come here often. Surena and Ursula are usually here. Don’t you think it’s more suitable for them to take care of the Felhunter?"

Erlan scratched his head and asked, "Surena can’t even stand imps, will she accept raising a demon dog?"

"You encourage her to improve," Jesse said, "but if she really doesn’t want to, then we’ll have to leave it to Ursula."

Erlan seemed surprised by the suggestion of motivating Surena to improve.

"Try your best," Jesse said, "and one more thing, Erlan, you mentioned Mor’zul to me last time. I want to know where Mor’zul got the knowledge about those demons. If he can get it, we should be able to get it too."

"I have no idea, that guy lives alone and doesn’t interact much with others," Erlan thought for a moment and said, "If you want to know where he is, maybe I can help find out. Such deep questions, even the demon scavengers who are closely connected to him might not know."

"Ah, wait." Erlan looked at Jesse and said, "There was this guy before who was crazy about a woman, even though he doesn’t talk about her much anymore."

"A woman?" Jesse asked, "Or a succubus?"

Erlan chuckled and said, "Even though he knows a lot about demons, Jesse, he’s not a demon himself. He didn’t always look like a dead person, he was young like you once. And from what he mentioned before, that woman was a warlock too."

"Do you know her name?" Jesse asked.

"If I knew, I would have told you already, wouldn’t I?" Erlan said. "I think you should ask Zardeth, he knows a lot more about warlocks than I do. I can ask him for you too, but he’s not easy to find these days."

"Forget it, Zardeth doesn’t like him." Jesse shook his head. "You better not bring it up with him. I’ll see if I can subtly ask around on my own."
