Chapter 387: Who Deserves More Credit?

When Jesse returned to Stormwind with the summoning spell notes given by Mor’zul, it was already afternoon. He returned Aarna to the stable in the Mage Quarter, and by the time he got back home, it was already dark outside.

As he approached his front door and climbed the steps, he could hear the commotion inside the house, as if something was scratching at the door.

Pushing the door open, just about to scold these two demons for not being quiet and causing trouble, Saenor suddenly pounced and grabbed his collar, saying, "Master, I heard your footsteps a long time ago."

"Why are you so excited?" Jesse asked.

"I wonder if you are a servant or a pet." Molofeel smiled while sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Shut up, toy!" imp shouted.

Molofeel bared his sharp teeth, imp quickly hid behind Jesse and pulled his collar, saying, "I need to discuss something important with the master, so behave! You wouldn’t want the master to get hurt, right!"

"Stop talking nonsense," succubus whispered.

"Speak now!" imp leaned in and whispered to Jesse, "Master, the spell is ready, I feel very confident this time, this phrase… I can sense its power!"

"You can’t deny my contribution, imp," Molofeel said while sitting on the bed. "Don’t forget who reminded you of the common Eredar phrases in this word…"

"Of course, I don’t deny it! You know much more about Eredar than I do," imp glanced at succubus and said. "Master, this is indeed a powerful spell created by an Eredar, it requires a lot of energy, Eredar warlocks create spells without worrying about energy consumption!"

"Moreover, I can feel the power gathering whenever I recite it, but my energy alone is not enough to cast it! Far from enough!"

"You’re trying to use Shadow Magic in my house?!" Jesse asked in surprise.

"Don’t worry, master, nothing will go wrong with me watching," Molofeel said. "And this imp won’t cause any trouble either. Besides being good at using its own fel magic to light a fire, it can’t do much else."

"So it’s up to the master to try. I get a headache just thinking about chanting this spell, I can’t stand it!" the imp pointed to a stack of papers on the table covered with densely written spells. "It’s the one on top! I wrote it there."

Jesse picked up the top paper and saw the spell written on it. He couldn’t help but notice the big difference between this language used to communicate with shadows and the Demonic language that can be understood. He could hardly understand the meaning, but it seemed to be related to summoning something.

"Is this a summoning spell?"

"It’s not the kind of summoning you’re used to, master. This is a very powerful spell. When I chant this spell, I can even feel the arrogance, impulsiveness, and desire for slaughter that Eredar had when creating it!" the imp waved its hands excitedly. "Ah, it’s amazing! The power of shadows! Master, you should give me more spells like this to decipher! I am always eager to make you stronger!"

"If I didn’t push you, little one," Molofeel said coldly, "how could you forget about the task the master gave you?"

The words on this scroll are basically spells that Teron Gorefiend remembers.

If it’s related to Eredar, what could it be?

Could this be Teron Gorefiend’s Shadow Fury?

He definitely wished to learn this powerful Dark Shock earlier. If he could learn it sooner, he might have been able to instantly control the situation when facing a group of rampaging Troggs underground in Uldaman.

Of course, Jesse also knew not to have any expectations about this spell, he had to consider all possible situations.

"Are you sure this isn’t a demon-summoning spell, Saenor?"

"No," Saenor replied, "A demon-summoning spell is much easier to understand than this! After all, you are conversing with demons from the Twisting Nether, not asking shadows to do something for you, right, master!"

"This isn’t any demon-summoning spell I’ve ever heard of, master," Molofeel added, "If it’s a demon summoning spell that I’m unfamiliar with… that would mean a large amount of soul energy would be needed to establish a channel of communication, just chanting a spell wouldn’t work, the shadow power contained in a mortal body can’t sustain such a connection."

"Of course, I’m not belittling your power…" the succubus said with a smile and a wink.

Jesse certainly understood what she meant, especially since he had only returned from Moonbrook a few days ago, hearing Mor’zul’s words. He also believed that a magic spell that left such a strong impression on Teron Gorefiend surely wasn’t summoning some voidwalker, or a felhound, or weak imps like Goblins orcs’ minions.

"I need to find a place to test this spell," Jesse said, "Prepare potions in advance… like the Shadow Protection Potion, and you guys need to come with me to help, to prevent any uncontrollable surprises."

"I want to see what this thing is…" said Saenor excitedly. "After all, I found it. If the owner doesn’t know what to call it, I hope to name it… Saenor’s Secret!"

Jesse took off his dirty shirt worn on the way and hung it on the window, saying, "You don’t even know what this magic is, and you’re naming it? Besides, Teron Gorefiend probably already gave it a name."

"But he’s dead, ha!" said Saenor.

"That is true."

Jesse packed up the scroll, rolled up the stack of rune-filled papers written by the two demons studying spells, and stuffed them under the bed into a worn bag.

"Well done, Saenor. Do you remember what I promised you last time?" Jesse sat on a stool nearby, took out a Soul Shard from his pants pocket, and said, "Look at this."

"A Soulstone with arcane energy!" imp excitedly took the Soul Shard and jumped around, saying, "I will keep it safe! It’s a gift from the owner! Ha!"

Saenor quickly disappeared into the bag.

"Your neck, owner," Molofeel pointed to a wound on his neck caused by the Felhunter’s tentacle, and said unhappily, "I don’t understand why you took such a risk without bringing me along."

Jesse touched the scar on his neck from where the sharp tentacle cut him and said, "Don’t worry, it’s not that bad, right?"

Molofeel squinted his eyes and pinched the spear-like tip on his tail with two fingers, saying, "Only I can taste your magic, master, others… anyone who tries must die."
