Chapter 385: Lesser Demons and Greater Demons

"Did Gakin get that spell from you?" Jesse asked persistently.

"No," Mor’zul replied. "Gakin also learned the spell from Zardeth. Although I knew that summoning a succubus requires a special token to attract their attention, I never quite grasped the exact method to summon these special demons. It was Gakin who told me the spell."

"It’s not surprising that many Orc Warlocks still linger north of Redridge or in the deep mountains of Khaz Modan. As far as I know, the Dark Iron warlocks of Shadowforge City also know how to summon succubus, perhaps obtained from the Blackrock Orcs they vie for territory with, or even earlier, who knows, Zardeth has many channels to acquire this spell."

Jesse nodded, saying, "I just had a feeling that something in that spell was off. I’m far from proficient in Demonic language."

Mor’zul said, "However, I’m not content with just a Felhunter, a lesser demon. Even a succubus falls short of what I desire."

"What do you want to summon?" Jesse asked.

"Right now, I have learned a summoning spell," Mor’zul said. "But summoning this demon doesn’t just require a simple Soulstone, I need a lot of spellcasting materials, and enough magical energy to establish a connection with it."

"Are you sure you can control what you summon?" Jesse asked.

"This is indeed very dangerous," Mor’zul admitted. "I myself cannot control it, summoning such a demon requires a lot of preparation, enslaving magic, imprisoning magic, temporarily weakening the demon’s magic circle, spells… I cannot do this alone, these tasks need a highly talented shadow spellcaster to help me, and I have been searching for such a person."

"I thought Gakin could help me with this, but clearly he was too problematic, the outcome was as expected. After that, I planned to find a talented warlock here in Moonbrook, but did not find a suitable one."

"So, are you the leader of the warlocks here in Moonbrook?" Jesse asked.

"Leader? No, once I realized they couldn’t help me, I stopped contacting them," Mor’zul said.

"I don’t even want to call the people here warlocks, they are just a group of spellcasting bandits. Their talents… I can’t be bothered to explore, after all, they summon demons, use the power of shadows for stealing, killing, or simply to satisfy their control or pleasure desires."

"If it’s just to survive, I would rather cooperate with those doing demon business, at least those people just want to make money, they won’t harm others for strange ideas, won’t drag me down."

"So, in the end, do you want to join this plan?"

"I need time to think," said Jesse.

"Of course, time is not a problem," Mor’zul said. "I know I’m not a patient person, Jesse, but I understand that great plans require patience to complete. I can wait for it. And as long as you agree, I can surely reward you, for example, I can teach you the summoning method of Felhunter right now, Jesse Seso, as a gesture of my sincerity."

Saying that, Mor’zul stood up, picked up a pale blue cloth bag from the nearby cabinet, and said, "Follow me."

Jesse followed him to the backyard, where the succubus was waiting for him.

"Master," the succubus said softly. "Do you need me tonight?"

Mor’zul said, "Of course, Daphne, to better serve and protect me. But for now, please let me have a chat about spells with this guest."

The succubus reluctantly glanced at Mor’zul, then looked at Jesse and said, "Respect my master, warlock."

"Summoning Felhunter requires not only a Soulstone but also a Soulstone infused with Arcane energy." Mor’zul took out a purple Soulstone shimmering with a pale blue light and placed it on the ground.

"Listen to my spell, Jesse Seso."

After saying that, he raised his hand, drew a few circles in front of him, and loudly recited, "Moana, Soga, Tolcridore, Rockserni."

Finished reciting, Jesse saw the Soulstone gradually dimming. The backyard, which already had scarce light sources, became even more ominous. Even the light from the window behind was not as bright. Suddenly, a black crack appeared out of nowhere, as if space was being cut by a knife, and black sticky blood oozed out.

In this sticky blood, a red giant rat with shaking head and wagging tail emerged, dripping purple saliva, and let out a roar towards Mor’zul, barking "growls".

Jesse gripped the dagger in his hand, ready to stop the Felhunter from attacking Mor’zul. Especially since Mor’zul looked very exhausted after casting this summoning spell, he could barely stand, as if he was already prepared to be devoured by the Felhunter.

However, the Felhunter showed no intention of attacking him. Instead, it came beside him, excitedly circling around him.

"Once a Felhunter is summoned, it will immediately obey the summoner completely? How is that possible?" Jesse said in astonishment.

"We all have our own talents, Jesse Seso."

Mor’zul said slightly proud, but still struggling for breath while speaking. This summoning magic was already a bit of a stretch for him.

"Now it’s your turn." He handed over a Soulstone from the bag that was almost the same color and shine, saying, "Give it a try, Jesse Seso, let me see how much truth Gakin’s words really hold."

Jesse took Mor’zul’s Soulstone, imitating his posture, guarding a distance away. The newly summoned Felhunter immediately excitedly ran over, but Mor’zul simply whispered and it obediently circled back, behaving like a well-behaved dog. Mor’zul’s control over demons was truly terrifying, completely contradicting his slightly weak appearance.

Obviously, the Felhunter summoned by him wouldn’t be as friendly.

Mor’zul looked at Jesse and said, "You already have experience summoning succubus, you should know how to feel the connection established between you and the Twisting Nether while chanting, feel the existence being pulled in the void."

"Chant with me, Moana, Soga, Tolcridore, Loksenni."

Jesse listened and extended his hand, chanting like Mor’zul. He felt the spell was very difficult to cast, much more so than summoning succubus. When the crack was opened, Jesse even felt that he couldn’t sustain the existence of that passage with his own power.

However, he didn’t need to maintain anything anymore, as the hound had already emerged.
