Chapter 382: The Special Materials Merchant
Despite asking for the quietest room, they could still hear various shouts from the street late at night.
Jesse didn’t sleep well that night. In the morning, he changed into a thin shirt and hurried to Mr. Cooper’s place as the boss had mentioned before.
Indeed, just like the innkeeper said, the place where Cooper lives looks much nicer than the other houses.
The servant who opened the door for Jesse at Cooper’s house, after a little inquiry, found out that the master of the house had gone to Stormwind to visit relatives.
However, Jesse wasn’t in the mood to interact with these people much. He just wanted to deliver the documents smoothly. What he was really curious about was Mor’zul.
Does Mor’zul have any connection with the warlocks here?
According to Ursula, Mor’zul is solely focused on summoning a powerful demon to control, even wanting to enter the Twisting Nether to actively find a demon to enslave…
The two warlocks Jesse happened to encounter last night were both accompanied by imps, which indicates that the warlocks in Moonbrook are quite skilled at summoning demons. Jesse wondered if this had anything to do with Mor’zul.
So, how can Jesse get in touch with the warlocks here?
Oh, Erlan mentioned before that there are some people here who deal in demon leather goods. If they are buying or selling organs or body parts from demons, horns and similar items, even if they are not warlocks, they must have some connection to the local warlocks, and maybe even to Mor’zul himself.
If Mor’zul is truly focused on demon research as Ursula said, then how does he make a living? Does he work as a mercenary like Jesse, traveling around?
No matter what, at least go to the local Alchemy Room or herb shop and ask around.
Jesse asked the servant at the Cooper house, confirmed the location of a local pharmacy in Moonbrook, wandered through a dusty and weedy alley, and found the place. Upon entering, he smelled a scent of Silverleaf.
"What are you planning to order?"
The shopkeeper, an older man, sat with his legs propped up on a chair against the back wall, gazing towards the door. He glanced at Jesse and said, "Are you a mage from Stormwind? What, not enough herbs over there for you?"
Jesse looked at the counter behind him, and just on the shelf next to his head were some ordinary recipes for Shadow Protection Potion.
"I need some special ingredients, sir," he casually said. "Related to demons."
The shopkeeper licked his teeth and said, "You’ve come to the wrong place. This is an herb shop, not a demon butcher shop. I don’t know about those things."
Jesse said, "I can assure you, the Wizard’s Sanctum doesn’t investigate scavengers, sir. There are too many demons summoned by Orcs, and dirty demon corpses are polluting the kingdom’s land everywhere. Mages are happy to have those hunters who collect demon corpses reuse those things."
After listening, the shopkeeper looked Jesse up and down, paused for a moment, and asked, "So, what do you need?"
"The witch’s wings," Jesse said.
"You mean the succubus’ wings, sorry, I don’t have that kind of stuff here," the shopkeeper waved his hand.
Succubus was mentioned, using the term "wings" that only demons liked to describe their wings. They claimed not to understand, making him feel like he wasn’t being taken seriously as a mage.
Jesse placed a silver coin on the table and said, "I know there are demon organs being sold here, sir. I collect demon organs to experiment with a new medicine to fight against demons. Do you know there are still some wandering demons near the Dark Portal causing a lot of trouble for the expedition army?"
The shopkeeper glanced at the two silver coins and said, "I really don’t have such things. I also want to make a contribution to the kingdom, but I’m not a mage, so I can’t magically produce something I don’t have."
Jesse took out another silver coin, and the shopkeeper tapped his knee with his finger, looked at Jesse, and said, "Honestly, I really don’t have it."
"But if you go out from here, walk down this alley to the end, turn right, you will see a standalone house with a closed door on your right. It’s a pre-war building that hasn’t been burnt, and there’s a broken unicycle at the door. The person inside sells what you’re looking for."
"Thank you very much."
Following the direction pointed out by the shopkeeper, Jesse felt like he was delving deep into the hidden corners of Moonbrook.
Everywhere was filled with old wooden houses, covered in dust. Most of the houses here weren’t destroyed by the war, but they didn’t look good either, they were worn-out and old.
By the side of the road, there was a decaying body that couldn’t be identified as a dog or a wild boar, it had dried out so much that there was no smell left.
At a corner, there was the wheel-less unicycle that the shopkeeper had mentioned. In front of a single-storey two-story building, it hadn’t been burnt down but had a hole in the roof.
Jesse walked up to the door, stuffed the ring into his pocket, knocked on the door, and said, "I have something to sell."
The door creaked open a crack, revealing a young woman’s eyes as she asked, "Who are you? I haven’t seen you before."
"What do you have there?"
Jesse took out the dragon tooth dagger from his waist and asked, "Is this a demon’s tooth?"
"It has been made into a knife…"
The woman sounded a bit impatient, but after glancing at the tooth, her expression changed immediately. Jesse felt like she could tell that it was a dragon’s tooth.
"Are you selling this?"
"Yes, but I want to know what demon’s tooth this is," Jesse asked.
"Felhunter’s tooth, obviously, only Felhunters can grow such long teeth," the woman asked, "How much do you plan to sell it for?"
"At least eighty silver coins," Jesse said.
"Expensive," the woman stared at the dagger, cautiously saying, "How about sixty, those kind of demon corpses are everywhere in the swamp."
According to Erlan’s previous statement, the organs of these demons can only sell for a few silver coins at most. With so many sharp teeth of Felhunters, even if there is a giant one, it can’t be sold for sixty.
She obviously thought she could get a bargain by picking up a cheap dragon tooth, and she was worried that Jesse would find something wrong. She planned to play hard to get.
"No," Jesse said, "You are too young, I need an experienced Demonologist to help me identify. Only when he confirms that this is a Felhunter’s tooth, I will believe it, and can sell it. Do you have someone else here? I don’t think this looks like a Felhunter’s tooth. I know Felhunters… their teeth are small and dense."
After saying that, he was about to leave. The woman opened the door and stuck her head out, saying, "I can see that you are indeed cautious. Since you don’t trust me, I will find someone who will definitely convince you before we trade again."
"How can we trade?"
"Come back here tomorrow evening," the woman said. "Bring your dagger, I will have him come to explain things to you."
Jesse asked, "Come here? I am supposed to meet at the inn."
The woman said, "He won’t go there, you don’t need to ask, I already know."
