Chapter 376: Finally Getting Some Rest
After taking the small spores from the bottle from the Herbalist in Thelsamar, Jesse and Greed replenished their food and set off on the journey back.
When we returned to Stormwind, it was nearly June and the weather was getting hotter.
We found a small inn run by Gnomes with Greed at the port, where we ordered two grilled fish and two light beers with little alcohol.
Jesse looked at the small fish that the innkeeper brought over, feeling like he hadn’t eaten well for a long time. He glanced at the Gnomish innkeeper and wondered if everything in a Gnomish-run inn was small.
"I don’t feel like taking a boat trip lately, Greed," he sighed. "First, we went to Booty Bay, and before I could rest from that journey, I had to sail with you to Khaz Modan."
"I actually went to Khaz Modan twice, Jesse," Greed chuckled. "But of course, you came with me. You didn’t have to make this trip."
Jesse said, "The only thing that disappoints me is that we promised to find things in that temple, and in the end, we came out empty-handed…"
"At least you got an axe," Greed said, patting the stone axe hanging from his bag. "That axe from one of the dwarven statues in the hall, I don’t really find it comfortable to use. Maybe we can see if it’s worth some money as an antique."
Jesse shook his head and said, "No, let’s keep it as a memory of this adventure. I wasn’t in it for the money. But now I have over thirty gold coins, and with a little more, I might be able to buy a house in Old Town."
"With the current situation, it’s hard to find a suitable house for thirty gold coins there, Jesse," Greed said. "It might be enough for yourself or squeezing with a wife, but if you want your parents to come live in the bustling and old city… in a dirty and broken-down place, can you really live with that? The new house you want to buy should at least be better than where they currently live."
"Also, taking care of a cheap house costs a lot of money, you can never imagine how much it costs to renovate and repair those old houses… Even if it’s a new house, you can’t spend all your money at once, the ongoing expenses everywhere are not small amounts, even in Goldshire, you wouldn’t want them to help you with debt as soon as they arrive here, right?"
Hearing Greed say this, thinking about how my parents lived in a muddy street in the old craftsman district of Royal City for almost half their lives, and coming to Stormwind to live in a similar environment, or even a smaller house, really made me feel guilty.
"You’ve been in Stormwind for less than three years, and we’ve only really started making money for less than a year," Greed continued, "In a few months, go back and show your parents the gold coins you’ve earned, then wouldn’t it be better to buy a nice new house near the trade district? I had a neighbor before, a merchant from Ironforge, who bought a small house near the trade district on the canal for seventy gold coins, enough for him, his wife, and son to live in. Seventy gold coins seemed unreachable two years ago when we just arrived in Stormwind, but now, the money we’ve saved is not far off."
Jesse nodded and said, "You’re right."
"Or you can go to the registration office at the city gate and inquire," Greed mentioned while sucking on a leftover fish bone, "There are people who register their houses for sale there, and they will show you the houses."
Jesse thought about going there to inquire about houses, but previously there was too little money, and later making money back and forth was too busy, so the idea of going there to look was completely forgotten.
After parting ways with Greed and returning home, Jesse pushed open the door and saw Molofeel flipping through materials of Demonic words translated by imps.
Upon seeing Jesse, she widened her eyes and said, "Master… you have finally returned!"
"Master! I…"
The imp jumped out from under the bed and got kicked back by the succubus with a hoof.
Molofeel came up and said, "During the month you were away, I felt like I was withering away, dying. If you don’t come back soon, I won’t be able to hold on to this body that can walk on Azeroth anymore. I can almost hear the echoes from the Twisting Nether…"
"Alright, alright," Jesse said, grabbing her arms as she pounced, "Stop pretending."
Molofeel sat back with a grim face, saying, "Boring."
Jesse placed the spores from the bottle on the table, took out a clean cloth, and said, "I still have to go out tonight, Molofeel, but I appreciate Saenor’s and your help in looking after the house for me."
Hearing his name, imp peeked out from under the bed and patted the dirt off his head.
"Hmm? What’s this?" Molofeel picked up the bottle, opened the cap, sniffed it gently, and said, "Ah, elemental life. Interesting, it has a unique scent of this world."
Jesse snatched the bottle back and closed it, saying, "What are you doing? If something from inside here escapes, my house is done for."
"There are two demons in your house, master," Molofeel said as he looked at the small spores in the bottle, "It can’t grow here. It can only absorb my breath and the imp’s magic here, it will die soon."
She laughed twice and finally crawled out from under the bed with a sad face, saying, "Master, please don’t let me live with her anymore. I’m going crazy, this demon…"
"Keep helping me look at that scroll," Jesse took out the scroll containing Gorefiend’s memories and said, "During our travels, besides studying the spell we already know, I haven’t figured out anything else. You all must continue to help me look."
"We can’t figure out anything besides that spell, Master," imp said helplessly. "I don’t know if the things you heard were too cryptic or if your memory is fuzzy…"
"Then write down all the other Demonic things you can think of, see if we can piece together a logical content, including you, Molofeel, you need to do this too!"
Molofeel pointed to his nose with his sharp claws and said, "Promise me, while I help you sort out these languages, every night I want to…"
Jesse said, "If you can’t figure it out for decades, won’t it be never-ending? Instead, until you make progress with this, don’t touch me."
The succubus tilted her head and said, "Well, who said you are my master, poor me…"
"I am the most unfortunate! I have no benefits!" imp shouted.
"So what do you want?" Jesse asked curiously.
"Hmm? Can I make a request?" Saenor asked.
"Make a request?"
"Then… let’s start with a bit of soul, master!"
Jesse thought and said, "Let me see if I can help you get a Soulstone, I will work hard to organize the spells, I want results!"
