Chapter 351: Traces of the Demonologist
In the basement of The Slaughtered Lamb, Zardeth was having a conversation with the succubus in his room, with the others not leaving immediately to prevent any unexpected incidents like Gakin’s.
They sat around the extinguished campfire, no one spoke for a while. Molofeel leaned against the wall behind Jesse, continuously tossing and catching the short sword in his hand, looking quite bored.
Finally, Surena lifted her head and glanced at the succubus by the wall, then at Jesse, saying, "Skinning… means, skinning the demon, right?"
"That demon was just trying to scare you." Jesse leaned on the armrest, holding his chin, looking towards the entrance to Zardeth’s room. "Don’t worry…"
"Come to think of it, I have never skinned a human before," Molofeel said.
"Then let’s keep it that way, miss," Erlan quickly added.
Suddenly, there was a muffled sound coming from Zardeth’s room. Erlan turned his head, and Jesse sat up straight.
"I’ll go check it out."
Erlan walked into the hallway, and Surena looked nervously in that direction.
Soon after, Erlan came out with a mischievous smile, looking at Surena, "Don’t worry, Zardeth is still alive, and quite passionate about it."
"Are they already doing it?" Surena asked, surprised.
"If a tall adult man and a naked pervert are in a room together, what do you think will happen? They might have been at it for several rounds already," Erlan said. "But I do understand Zardeth very well."
Surena peeked into the hallway, then looked at Erlan and asked, "What should we do?"
"Of course, we should seize the moment and join in!"
Erlan suddenly grabbed Surena and rushed into the hallway leading to the practice room, making Surena scream. They must have gone to their little dark room to exercise again.
Jesse cleared his throat, glanced back at Ursula sitting with a stern face on the chair, and said, "I knew a succubus would turn this place into something…"
"It doesn’t really make a difference, Jesse. Now we just have one more weirdo joining this chaotic exercise," Ursula shrugged.
"What about us… Master?" Molofeel appeared from behind, seemingly out of nowhere.
"In the Mage Quarter?" Jesse glanced towards the exit and said, "No."
"Ah, have you been with your succubus?" Ursula asked with a curious look.
"You should try it too, human," Molofeel said as he touched Jesse’s neck, then turned to Ursula eagerly, "The master is really skilled."
Alchemist took a deep breath and stood up, grinning mischievously, "Looks like I’m getting in the way here!"
"Ursula, she did it on purpose…" Jesse said helplessly. Ursula took off her coat, glanced back at the two, raised an eyebrow slightly, and walked towards the passage.
"Master, now it’s just the two of us," Molofeel pushed Jesse onto a chair, sat on his lap and said, "You don’t need to exert yourself, I can handle it myself…"
Jesse held her hands and said, "This place makes me nervous, whether it’s just the two of us or not. Keep an eye on that succubus tonight, make sure there are no problems. I don’t want anyone else to die."
Molofeel said, "She already told that warlock her true name, why are you still worried?"
Jesse said, "It’s better to be cautious. You stay here and keep an eye on things while I go to the Alchemy Room to ask her something."
"So you’re leaving me here in this situation?"
Molofeel said, and from the practice room over there, there came a series of low hums.
"Let’s talk about it later, just make sure nothing goes wrong tonight," Jesse said.
The succubus lightly jumped to the side, using her tail to bring a short sword to her, taking it and saying, "Alright, I’ll listen to you anyway!"
Jesse nodded and walked into the Alchemy Room, where Ursula was organizing things on the cabinet. She turned around upon hearing the footsteps behind her.
"Already?" she asked.
Jesse raised his hands and said, "I didn’t do anything!"
Ursula chuckled and asked, "Are you saying you didn’t do anything just now, or that the scene between you and your succubus is clean?"
"Completely not clean," Jesse admitted.
Ursula leaned against the cabinet and tutted twice, saying, "I really can’t tell."
"Don’t tease me, Ursula," Jesse said. "Don’t worry about what the demon said earlier."
"I know what a succubus looks like, Jesse," Ursula waved her hand. "I’m not as interested in these things as you think, but I find it hard to still see you as a kid!"
"Are you sending the kids to the troll ruins and Dark Iron Dwarves camp?" Jesse asked as he sat down.
"Young ones need exercise," Ursula chuckled. "Are you here just to apologize?"
"Of course, it’s an apology," Jesse said. "But I also have something to ask you, how much do you know about Mor’zul?"
"I didn’t expect you to ask about him," she looked at the cauldron next to her, pondered for a moment, and said, "Mor’zul, well, he’s a bit older than me, skinny, looks down on people, speaks harshly, always smells of a variety of strange magical materials, and not a pleasant smell, completely opposite to Zardeth. But when it comes to shadow spells, especially demon knowledge… he’s an absolute genius, Jesse. He’s never satisfied with summoning just an imp, I don’t think he cares much about succubus either; he always wanted to personally capture a demon from the void. Can you believe it? But shortly after he came here, he was solely focused on achieving this goal, although I find it very unlikely, but much of our knowledge about demons also came from him. I think Mor’zul initially wanted our help, but then he felt we were holding him back."
Jesse asked, "Is that why he left?"
"Probably," Ursula said. "I don’t know him well, but Gakin likes him a lot, and as Zardeth said, I don’t think he completely cut off contact with Mor’zul."
"Do you know where he might have gone?" Jesse asked.
"If I had to guess, it’s very likely Moonbrook," Ursula said. "Where else could he go? He needs others interested in demons to help him fulfill his wish. Besides Moonbrook, there isn’t a bigger gathering place for warlocks. Do you want to go find him?"
"I don’t have that plan," Jesse said. "Just curious, considering how strong you all describe him."
Despite saying that, he really did have thoughts of going to find this person, to see how much he could learn from him.
